Chapter 975, Unexpected Reinforcements
Chapter 975, Unexpected Reinforcements
With Gu Jing's help, the situation on the battlefield finally stabilized.
Magnus encountered someone who could rival him in the manipulation of psychic energy.
He had to divert his strength to deal with Gu Jing.
Meanwhile, after Robert's pressure was greatly reduced, he also got rid of his previous predicament and was finally able to move forward step by step.
When he arrived before Magnus, the 'divine abomination' had no choice but to draw his demonic sword and engage Robert in close combat.
At this point, Magnus could hardly be said to have any advantage.
Instead, he had to focus most of his psionic energy on fighting Gu Jing, and also had to deal with Robert and his Emperor's Sword in close combat.
In terms of swordsmanship and close combat skills, Magnus was objectively quite formidable. He could tear apart any Space Marine or even a common warp demon using only his physical strength.
However, in a fight at the same level, his swordsmanship and physical strength are not worth mentioning.
Robert may not be the most skilled fighter among the Sons of God, but in terms of swordsmanship, he is definitely better than Magnus.
Especially since Magnus's psychic power was tied up by Gu Jing.
Magnus, who was being suppressed, let out one angry roar after another.
But to no avail.
He couldn't find a way to reverse the situation.
And even worse things are happening.
In the sky, on the ships of the expeditionary force, the warriors of the Infinite Chapters and their many sub-chapters were extremely anxious after hearing that the Father of Genes was engaged in a fierce battle on the ground.
They prepared for the attack at top speed. One landing craft after another departed from the ships. Some, even more impatient, boarded the drop pods and flew in spectacular arcs, like shooting stars, crashing onto the lunar surface.
Airdrop pods are, of course, the fastest way to support the battle. These pods were almost all dropped on the locations closest to the battlefield, some even landing right on the heads of those demons.
Those shot down in mid-air aside, the drop pods that successfully landed saw Space Marines, their iron doors swirling open, striding out with blazing fury. They unleashed a hail of bullets from their explosive rifles, quickly clearing space for their comrades inside to emerge as well. Having emptied their magazines, they didn't even have time to reload; instead, they drew their chainsaws or power swords and slashed at the enemy.
Every now and then, Space Marines are overwhelmed by sheer numbers of demons, but their brethren quickly avenge them, and even more Space Marines will fall from the sky.
As for the demons, while their numbers are said to be endless, the main reason is that Magnus opened many large warp rifts, which indeed allowed a particularly large number of demons to rush in.
But with Gu Jing's arrival, the situation had already changed.
Not only did he 'shatter' many subspace rifts upon landing, but during his subsequent confrontation with Magnus, rift after rift was gradually closed.
Magnus had tried his best to stop it, but he had to deal with Robert, who was wielding the Emperor's Sword, so he couldn't completely stop it.
But if that were all, victory wouldn't be so easy.
The wicked god would not act rashly without being certain of victory.
Even if Magnus wasn't good at considering the big picture, and his wisdom was mostly focused on thinking about magic, witchcraft, and psychic powers, there were still many Tzeentch members who were skilled in intrigue and scheming.
Through the subspace rift, Gu Jing could already smell something else—it was the Great Demon!
There was more than one, and they were not ordinary.
Behind Magnus, on the other side of the warp rift, there exist at least nine other god-kings, the ever-changing demon lords!
The leader of these figures is a well-known figure, recorded in the empire's top-secret history, and known as the "Weaver of Fate."
Its biggest difference from other Myriad Transformation Demon Lords lies in the fact that it has two heads. With just one head, its strength is probably no less than, and perhaps even greater than, that of an ordinary divine abomination or a child of a god.
Not to mention the other eight great demon gods.
Any one of these divine beings or great demons, if taken individually, might not be able to defeat the Son of God, but they would definitely be able to cause trouble for people at this level.
If they focused their efforts on slaughtering ordinary civilian soldiers or space marines, their efficiency would be extremely high.
Magnus is still persevering, waiting for these allies to come.
Gu Jing was trying to stop their arrival.
This is a force capable of deciding the outcome of a battle.
However, it's a bit difficult.
The pit we dug earlier was too big.
If Gu Jing had been there at the very beginning of the battle and hadn't allowed Magnus to create so many subspace rifts, things might have been a little better.
But now... although the Weaver of Fate can't get in yet, it looks like a powerful and ever-changing demon lord is about to enter.
One has two.
One of them would be a great help to Magnus, and a second one would probably come very soon.
One after another they came in, until the Weaver of Fate also entered the battlefield, at which point the situation completely collapsed.
But at this moment, the two straws that broke the camel's back for Magnus and his many demons were the arrival of two unexpected reinforcements!
The first unexpected reinforcements to arrive came from Holy Terra!
One unit, responding to the Regent's call and disregarding the opposition of the Holy Terra government, boarded a spaceship and arrived in orbit above the moon. They then used teleportation to reach the battlefield at top speed.
They were few in number, only two or three hundred, yet they brought about a tremendous change to the battlefield.
Simply because most of them wore golden armor and were even more imposing than Space Marines.
They are the Imperial Guard, the emperor's personal troops, stationed in the palace!
The arrival of these imperial guards swiftly and decisively cleaved the already weakened demon army in two.
Their most important objective was to send their comrades in black armor to the vicinity of Magnus and the numerous warp rifts.
These female warriors, known as the 'Silent Sisters,' actually serve the same function as the 'Unleashed,' the most important core members of the Alliance's 'Spellbreaker' legion—or even more so!
In the presence of these silent nuns, warp power should theoretically be suppressed and prohibited.
Although this effect does not completely strip Magnus of his psionic spellcasting ability, it is enough to disrupt him and accelerate the closure of the warp rift.
The second force comes from the Alliance's Spellbreakers!
Once the Terra Expeditionary Force has established a firm foothold on the moon, they will send a small veiled spirit portal device to the surface.
It has now been completed, and an Alliance force of spellbreakers has passed through the Veil Spirit Gate and arrived at the battlefield.
Among these lawbreakers, there were a full one hundred 'non-leaking' individuals!
Even if the effect of each and every one of them on suppressing the subspace is slightly less than that of the Silent Sisters, their numbers are still considerable!
