Ashlyn Pov.

I could feel how nervous she was when I grabbed hold of her waist as we began to walk into the apartment. She was tensed, and she couldn't move freely around me like she used to. I guess it was my fault; I should have controlled my anger and not lashed it all on her to the extent of choking her and leaving my finger prints on her neck region.

"Don't make things more difficult than they already are."

"Please loosen up and wear a brighter face around my father; he is quick to judge and easy to follow things up, "I said in a way to persuade her.

"Then you should have a second thought before you let your anger cloud your sense of judgement, "she mutters with a fake smile on her face.

"Father !!" I called immediately and we got into the house. Dad was sitting alongside Scar and Leo. Their eyes were fixed on us, and I also noticed the disappointment in Scar's eyes as her eyes diverted to my hands on Ami's waist.

"Father in law, "Ami beams happily as she releases my grip on her and then runs to hug my father, close to herself.

"I guess she is much more addicted to you than me, dad, "I said, smiling at her. Our eyes met with one another as she quickly looked away.

"Scar, how was the ride with Leo? "I asked, staring at Scar, who immediately looked away with a glance at me.

"You know how boring he could get, yet you ditched me for her. "She mutters angrily, and a smile escapes my lips as she pouts.

She is still the same over the years ,shabby and nonchalant as she has always been.

"Dear Scar, grow up already," I mutter, and then happily go to sit over close to her.

"Grow up also. You are ditching me for her, and you don't even care." She complained. Dad wore a perfect smile on his face while he watched the argument with kin interest.

"I guess you will have to get used to being ditched over and over again, especially now that he has a mate, my darling, "Ami say. Scar frowns at her, and Leo smiles.

"You should be planning on getting married soon, Ash, don't you think?" Father said that, and we were all taken aback immediately.

Ami's eyes were now filling on me, her legs vibrant as she sat erected watching us.

"Dad, my mate is already worn out , about the need for marriage; besides, we haven't been too close and know a lot about each other."

"Yes, father-in-law, I'm in support of this. I need to study him, know him better, know his likes and dislikes, and know his attitude towards things, "Ami said, fully supporting me with a wave of panic.

"What is there to know and study? The moon goddess never lied about our mate. I got married to your mother immediately, I know she was my mate. "Dad paused to stare at me.

"Your cases would not be different either; you are 35 and still single, and you just found your mate, and yet you are not ready for commitment, or is it because of?"

"Dad, please not now, dad. Let it slide already, and don't bring back the already dead and forgotten topic, dad!"I cut him short before he could have the chance to complete his statement.

A reminder of my past might affect my future, especially when I'm trying my very best to get over it and focus on my future goals.

"Father, I still think you should given them a chance to get to know each other. This is the 21st century, and we no longer rush to do things around the world, "Scar added as she looked at Dad.

"But he is getting older, and there is no heir to the pack, "Dad responded. His attention was still on me.

"Dad, old or not, I will provide for you an heir. Besides, why are you so worried about how I provide an heir? My mate and I will work on that, "I said, turning to look at Amelia.

"Isn't it obvious that they were already good together? Perhaps we should give them some break already, dad!" Leo added, and dad sighs.

"Whatever , this son of mine needs to get us an heir as soon as possible. I wouldn't want to have another person sitting on my throne. "Dad mutters as he signals the guards, and they immediately come to his aid, handling over to him some documents.

"Lia, here are the documents and the file concerning the pack business; otherwise, you will run the business along with Ash, and do not give him the room to boss you around." He paused to stare at me as Ami also did the same.

She was reluctant enough to take the documents.

"But dad, don't you think you are getting a bit overworked up?"

"I mean, I haven't spent more than three days here, and you have already started treating me like your own child, "Ami says, now staring at my father.

"Yes, dad, she is right, dad."

"I think we should let things slide for now. I need to talk things out with my mate, "I added, and Dad stares strangely at us.

"I don't care what you two think, but she is doing this with you, and that is final, "he stated.

"Here, sign your consent form and hand it over to Him, "he said, handling the documents back to Amelia as she signed and handed them back to me with her shaking hands.

"I will be off; you guys take care and ensure to keep my company running smoothly."

"Yes, father-in-law, thank you, father-in-law,"Ami said with a fake smile as dad walked off with the guard besides him.

The atmosphere became so quiet and tensed that no one was ready to start the conversation; all we could do was stare into space as we watched Dad go away.
