THIRTY FIVE
DAMON
"Ah, finally!" Basiton exclaimed as the prison doors slid open.
Selena gestured to the men who guarded the doors, asking them to leave after locking the door from outside.
While I saw no sense in that, I said nothing and followed her loud footsteps as she walked into the room with the cemented floor.
Contrary to what my imagination thought, the prison wasn't old and moldy. Neither were the beds rusty and disgusting. And no, there was no bucket in the corner filled with the remains of the men's bowel movements.
The room I stepped into might be a prison, but it was pretty cool. Though its walls were slowly losing their colours, the separate beds which were attached to the walls and adjacent to each other were in great shape. The mattresses looked bouncy enough as well.
The air in the room was just like the one outside that vicinity. It didn't reek of dangerous emissions.
Who would have thought that The Damish Gang would have such friendly facilities for their prisoners?
"I thought you would leave us to rot here," Basiton continued as his face wore a certain gloat.
"I wish I could leave you to rot here. It would be amusing to watch Malik mourn your loss for a brief second before he goes back to his activities," Selena replied to the man as she walked toward him, her heels making the room feel less empty.
"Malik is not like you, Dangerous Dame. Pretty Boy," Basiton moved his head to the side as he directed his next words to me, "take my advice and run away from this devil. She is so evil, she will dump and leave you in ruins when she's done with you."
I dashed the man a sarcastic smile as I shifted my gaze at Ethan who was seated against the wall, his eyes closed.
"Stop feeding him lies, Basiton. I am not here to indulge you."
"Why are you here then?" His face lit instantly. "Are we going to play a game? I would love to play a game. It is so boring in here and the men up front are no fun."
Selena grabbed his hairy chin and her calm eyes pierced his soul after. "Should we?" her tender voice had that hint of danger in it and no matter how many times I stay around her, I don't think I can get used to hearing her sound so dangerous.
"I would love to. Ethan?"
"Yes, boss," the man replied and I eyed him instantly. Our eyes met and I intensified my glare at him. I just hate him so much, I wish I could pin him to the wall and leave him hanging for days.
"Would you like to play a game?"
Selena's hand went to the man's hair and she yanked a meaningful amount. "This is between you and me, Basiton."
"Is it?" The gloat in Basiton's eyes made me even angrier. Thinking about the day that I almost slept with him made my annoyance grow some more and I began to regret leaving my work at TIANOR and following Selena to this damned place.
As I took a few steps back, deciding to silently watch Selena from that distance, the woman began to take off her shoes.
It was an odd sight. But it became questionable when she placed one of her heels on Basiton's crotch.
Then, after a glance in my direction, she tossed me the other pair.
The footwear danced a bit before it found balance in my hold and, it got confused stares from me.
"Is this your game?" Basiton questioned as he glared at the shoe resting in his groin area. "What kind of-"
Selena said nothing and that seemed to anger the man who halted his words and clenched his jaws.
Soon, as she reached for her shoe, she placed her bare foot between his thighs and the base of her heel rested against the man's neckline.
A thin frown on my face, I stole another look at the footwear in my hold. It was then I saw it.
At the base of the heel was a certain hollowness that had a small blade protruding from it.
"Are you going to kill me?" Basiton asked firmly as Selena's hold against his skin persisted.
"That would be no fun, Basiton." At that point, I could barely recognize Selena's voice. Not only did she sound different, the coarseness and dread in her voice soon made me realize why she was a Mafia Don.
It would be foolish of anyone to approach her in that state. She looked ready to end Basiton's life and the man could tell that much. His hands kept pinching each other, an action that hinted at his fear even though his face wore a blank look.
"Then what? Why are you doing this? First you steal our gold..."
"Your gold?" I watched as her head tilted to the side making her hair fall out of the loose ponytail she had put them in earlier. "Your gold?" The replay of her earlier question was followed by loud, hysterical laughter which made Selena fling her head backward like a lunatic scientist who had just found a way to get rid of a huge hurdle in his life.
"It's not funny," Basiton said and I noted how he barely sounded like the loud man he was seconds ago. He looked little in front of her which was quite ironic should one take a good look at their physical appearances.
I guess Selena has played her cards right and made sure the powerful men of the country fear her no matter what.
Her laughter ceased instantly. "I know it's not funny. And, it is not your gold. When you get out of here, ask your boss about the owner of the consignment."
"You are just- Argh!" He muffled his exclamation as his right hand pressed into the portion of his lap which Selena had swiftly swiped her shoe-knife over.
My eyes squinted as I watched blood stain Basiton's fingers.
"I have something to ask you," Selena spoke, barely giving the man to catch his breath. The knife was back to resting against his neck. "Governor Ramsey's son..."
"What about him?" Basiton asked as he pressed his hand into his injury which seemed worse than I thought.
"You know him, don't you?"
"No, I don't- Fuck!" Basiton swore as she dug the knife that stuck out of the heel into his hand which covered his existing injury.
As she made spiralling motions and drilled the knife into his skin, getting a great deal of blood eruption, she said, "Wrong answer."
"What on earth do you expect me to fucking say?"
"Don't fucking scream at me," she calmly replied to Basiton's outburst as she pulled the bloodied knife out of his skin. The man's grunt filled the room, his thick breaths did the same.
As I stared at the shoe in my hand and pushed the knife out of the heel's base, I wondered if I was supposed to do the same to Ethan.
My eyes darted from the shoe to Ethan whose eyes lacked the sassy look they had earlier. Selena's cold torture must have drilled some sense into him.
Well, he should count himself lucky. I don't think I would ever drill a person's hand with a shoe knife. Or any time of knife.
"Governor Ramsey's son asked Malik to seize the consignment, didn't he?"
"I-"
Selena placed the knife close to his face. "Your right eye is next if you utter another wrong response."
"Uh..." Basiton became very uneasy. "I know that his son is friends with Malik."
Selena scoffed as she dragged her free hand across the length of her hair. "You must have a need to lose your right eye."
"What?" Basiton shifted uncomfortably.
"Governor Ramsey's son is your friend, isn't he? You have dinner with him from time to time, don't you?"
"Y-yes."
"That fool asked your boss, Malik to get the gold, didn't he?"
"He wanted a share."
"He wanted a share of Damish Gang's property?" Selena's scoff was loud. The woman who was threatening a man almost twice her size was definitely not the woman that sucked my dick this morning.
Okay... that sounded so wrong.
"He just wanted to-"
"Has Malik paid his dues to Damish Gang?"
"Huh?"
"Don't fucking test my patience," Selena said as she took a step back, her shoe no longer threatening Basiton's body. "Has Malik paid his dues?"
"Y-yes."
"Take your minion and leave."
"What?"
Lucius suddenly appeared and the door rattled as he got rid of the lock. I was about to wonder how long he had been standing there when Selena spoke.
"Tell that fool that calls himself the governor's son that I am coming for him. I know all about the questionable things he does these days. So," I could barely see her face, but I suspected that she wore a smirk at that point, "tell him I am coming for him."
"We can go?"
"Should I just hack you to death and feed your remains to vultures?" she asked sternly as she tossed her shoe to the side and folded her arms.
Man, the sight of blood on that pair of shoes made it more real that I just watched Selena give a man a mini-torture.
"Ethan..." Basiton got up instantly. "Let's go."
Basiton rushed toward the entrance, barely waiting for Ethan who found the guts to glare at me as he walked past me.
I felt that anger return because I kept seeing my father in his actions. Before I knew it, the shoe in my hand was hurled at his back and the man grunted as he rushed after his boss.
"Oh!" Selena clapped as she walked toward me. "That was a good shot. You could have aimed at his buttocks so that he won't be able to wear a smile each time he sits."
"Your thinking is wild," I said as I watched her place her hands on my chest.
"I love being wild."
"Good for you." I suddenly had the urge to walk away from her. I needed a break if I am to survive the effects of the scene I watched earlier.
"Speaking of being wild..." Selena's chest glued against mine as her earlier wicked voice turned into a whisper. "Let's continue what we started this morning."
"Selena?" I almost groaned as she grabbed my crotch as though she owned it.
"Hmm?" I felt her breath against my skin as she pressed her body against mine.
"Let's-"
"Don't you want to be wild? Let's have sex right here," she interrupted me. "Pin me against the wall and fuck me hard. We can roleplay and-"
"Selena," I calmly said even though I was so close to screaming her name. As I peeled her hands off my chest, I held them securely. "I don't want to. I just watched you torture a man with a shoe and-"
"Oh, right." Her face wore a small smirk as her eyes darted to the side. "You couldn't handle that little sight?"
"Little sight?" I frowned.
"I am not surprised. Most men find it easy to run their mouths about their strengths, but at the end of the day," she eyed me, "they are just pussies."
"Selena, it seems you are forgetting something." I found her utterance highly offensive. I could actually feel anger boil inside me as I replayed her words and look of disdain. I took a few steps backward as I dropped her hands. "I am just an ordinary guy with no knowledge about how things run in your world. Stabbing people might be old news to you. That's fine. To me, it is an unexpected sight. I am hardly-"
"Are you trying to argue with me?" Selena asked, an air of arrogance surrounding her.
"What if I am?"
"Then, I should teach you a lesson. You shouldn't speak to your boss that way."
"If-" I restrained myself from saying the statement I intended to utter. Sighing, I figured out that speaking any further would cause me mental harm. Seeing how I felt anger toward Selena at that moment, it would be better to leave.
And, I needed to make sure I was fine after watching her stab and threaten a man.
Soon, with my hands fisted, I walked past Lucius and out of the building.
