Chapter 103
"Perfect! We should go check out the new art shop I saw in downtown!" Elsie exclaimed happily. She pulled Ariana by the arm and dragged her towards her car.
Calhoun's eye started twitching as he watched Ariana go with Elsie. "Elsie!" He roared but Elsie turned a deaf ear as she pulled her small beetle car open and pushed Ariana in.
Elsie was harmless. But the family had really pissed him off and he was hoping to have Ariana to himself. He didn't plan to have her going for some crazy art shopping this evening! He needed to be with her.
Out of experience, he knew that Elsie's car would take at least five minutes before it started. Calhoun, took his time and walked to where she was parked. He went to Ariana's side of the car and leaned over so he could be on the same eye level as her.
"Where do you think you are going?" He asked in a cold voice.
Ariana looked at Elsie who was still struggling with her car keys and turned back to Calhoun. "She asked me to go someone where with her..." She trailed off. She wanted their relationship to work and this was a step to realizing that dream. She had to get close to his family members one at a time.
"Do you know what time it is?" Calhoun asked in anger now. Ariana was trying too hard and it was starting to piss him off. She was an Angel just Like Elsie had said. They should be the ones pooling over her feet and not the other way around.
Ariana shrugged. Truly she didn't know what time it was. All she wanted was to take that step into growing their relationship.
Calhoun pulled the door open. "Step out of the car, I am taking you home!"
It was at this point that Elsie turned her eyes away from the key she had being struggling with and looked at Calhoun.
"What are you doing?" She shrilled.
"What does it look like I am doing. It's late Elsie. She needs to rest plus the whole thing wasn't even as it was supposed to." His tone was more of disappointment than anger.
"But we wanted to go shopping!" Elsie whined.
Ariana was truly tired of all the drama and what Calhoun had said made her realize that even he was stressed out. There was no point fighting him further. She slowly stepped out of the car and stepped aside.
"Elsie you can go shopping in the after afternoon or next week end. But not this night, please," Calhoun said.
"Fine. I will come for you myself angel! Bye devil!" She said as her car finally started. She pulled out if the drive wag as Ariana and Calhoun made their way to his car.
He opened the door to her side of the car and set her into the seat. He then went to his own end and started the car. He sped out of the mansion not even turning to stare back. His family had disappointed him. Especially his grandfather. It was clear that he didn't like Ariana.
As he drove, a silence filled the car as they were both lost in their own thoughts. Calhoun focused his eyes on the road but his mind and heart where in different places. Ariana on the other hand leaned her head on the window on her side, also thinking about what she had gotten herself into. There was no way the family members were not going to think of her as gold digger that had found a way to use magic on their previous son.
"Your family doesn't like me, do they?" Ariana asked piercing the silence in the car.
Calhoun applied brake briskly almost scratching the car in front of him as he didn't notice the traffic light had already turned red ahead of him.
"Ariana, my family doesn't have a say in what I do in my life," he said sternly.
"But you went for a dinner to show them to me. What was that for?" Ariana retorted.
"Ariana, my family doesn't hate you. Aunt Bianca loves you. Rosa adores you and even Elsie likes you. What more do you want?!" He asked her and she swallowed on the answer she had been preparing and stared out dot he window as before.
"My grandfather has a demand he needs from me but I don't want to do that. It's you I want Ariana and whether my family wants it or not, I am marrying you!" He stated spurting the car to life as he zoomed off from the place.
He drove to her apartment and helped her out for the car. He had wanted to take her to his own place. But she already seemed moody, he didn't want to stress her even more.
"I will send Elsie your number. I am certain she is everywhere on mg mail by now." He said as they walked to her apartment.
When they got there, Ariana stopped by the door and looked back at him. The evening had been very eventful. She had been scared the family would be too perfect and hate her and that was almost what happened but she got some friends at least. Their eyes met a d Ariana felt her butterflies come alive in her stomach as she tried to stat focus.
Calhoun moved closer and she back herself against the door. "Won't you invite me in?" He asked in a gentle voice. Her insides became a pool of love at the sound of his voice.
She should have been angry with him for not telling her about his family earlier but even she knew she would have backed down on everything if she had heard about them earlier. Or even angry that he dragged her around like a ragged doll but she found her anger seeping away as they got home.
"Not even a goodbye kiss?" Calhoun asked with his signature devilish grin.
Ariana shook her head with a smile on her beautiful face and unlocked the doors as she ran in, closing the door behind her.
They still had a lot to talk about!.
