Chapter 136
"Ariana!" Calhoun's sleepy voice rang in the corridor as walked to the living room.
Ariana heard him but the image and writings going on in front of her kept her frozen she couldn't speak. She had seen this coming. Ethan was not bluffing.
"I've been looking everywhere for you," Calhoun said walking over to where she sat motionless. He hadn't realized what she was watching. He got to her, and that was when he saw the shock and fear mixed in her eyes.
"Ariana, what is wrong?" He asked sleep leaving his eyes completely. His heart squeezed as he hated to find such expressions on her face.
She was talking. Her eyes were just fixed on the television as she tried to think about the next thing they could do at this point.
Calhoun followed her line of sight and saw the news.
"Ethan has attempted murder?" He read out loud. He clicked his tongue in irritation and held her hands. "Ariana, this guy is a joker. He is only doing this to get at you, babe."
His words made her peel her eyes from the television and she glared at him. He seemed not to have seen the entire thing. "Calhoun, if he only attempted murder, it would have not moved me; but he did it in my parents house! And he wrote my name on the walls with his blood!" She burst in anger. She wasn't even worried for Ethan. It was the way the whole thing turned out. It was painting a very bad picture and she didn't like it.
"What would he go do something like that in my parent's house!?" She cried out. She was so angry. Hot tears spilled from her eyes as she gritted her teeth trying to calm herself.
Calhoun got up from the couch and started walking away.
Ariana frowned and turned around to watch where he was going. She had just lamented about something and he was walking out?
"Calhoun?" She tested. Her body went numb. It was like that moment when you stepped on a mine and you had just a few seconds before it gave off
"Give me a second!" Calhoun murmured.
Ariana got up too. She was unable to wait for him to return. Her curiosity was eating at her. She walked after him and they met in the corridor.
"I told you that, Ethan deserved to be in jail but you said he didn't! Can you see what he has gone to do now?" Calhoun snapped. He typed away on his phone and Ariana could tell it was the lawyer he was chatting with.
"If he had been given a warning to stay far away from anything that has to do with you, he wouldn't have dared to do this!" Calhoun continued as he walked back to the living room with Ariana in tow.
It was annoying that Ethan was constantly becoming a growing pest. They had just managed to throw Alice off their back and now this!
"Calhoun, please calm down," Ariana said wiping away her tears with the back of her hands. "We can sort this calmly. Let me just call my parents and we can find out how everything happened... " Ariana said but her tongue got glued to the roof of her mouth as Calhoun turned to glare at her.
"Who said you have to call them?" He asked and Ariana looked on without a clue of what he was trying to say or even what she should say next.
"I have chatted Zion. The chopper will be here any minute. We are heading there right now and we are going to the court afterwards," Calhoun said in a harsh voice. His love for Ariana was making him take silly steps that brought mistakes. He shouldn't have listened to her when she had asked him to withdraw the case against Ethan. That fool would have been in a cell or even an hospital right now.
"We are going there?" Ariana squeaked. She and her parents were not in the best of terms and she sincerely didn't want her mother to know she was now with Calhoun the woman loved money more than her own family.
Calhoun raised his brows and moved his eyes from his phone. "Is there a problem?" He asked her.
Ariana tucked her hair behind her ear and swallowed the things she had wanted to say about her mother. "No, it's fine."
Calhoun realized he had made her uncomfortable with his decision. He took a deep breath and moved closer to her. "Babe, I am doing this for you... For us. One of us has to be hard. If we are being too sweet to everybody, we'll keep having problems," he explain as he pulled her closer.
Ariana stared straight at his throat. She knew he was right but she still felt like there was a way they could handle Ethan without sending the man to orison.
"Ethan is obsessed with you Ariana, and I don't want him to hurt you. We can't take any chances." He pulled her jaw upward with his finger and touched their noses together.
Ariana took a deep breath as she leaned into Calhoun. He was right. They needed to set some boundaries before things got worst too fast.
Calhoun's phone vibrated in his pocket and Ariana pulled back. "I'll go prepare for the trip..." She whispered as she retreated from him.
Calhoun held the tips of her hand as she was about getting out of reach. She turned back around with questions dancing in her eyes.
"I'll be meeting your parents for he first time. You think they'll like me?" He asked with a devilish smirk in his face.
Ariana smiled but deep inside her heart ached. "They'll love you," she replied and Calhoun blew her a kiss before letting her go.
Ariana felt like crying inside but she held it in. Of course her parents would love him. But that was only because he was the richest man they could ever dream of laying their hands on. If Calhoun's family ever found out about the kind of parents she truly had, they would surely break them apart.
Their relationship was a ticking time bomb.
