Chapter 154
"How about your uncles?" Ariana asked brushing off thoughts of Lily and her sons away from her mind.
"Well, there's uncle Benson who is married to Lily and then uncle Thomas."
"Who should I run from?" Ariana joked. It sounded like a joke and she might have even meant for it to sound like a joke but she was really paying attention to the details he was passing on to her.
"Highest on the list is definitely Uncle Benson. He is Lily's husband," Calhoun explained.
"So Lily isn't your blood relative? Whoa..."
Ariana wanted to ask why Lily commanded her husband and acted like the head of the family but she decided to hold her tongue. The last thing she needed was for someone to overhear their conversations. She wouldn't want grandfather to hear her speak of things that were none of her business.
"No, she isn't. She married into the family."
Somewhere within the expanse of the large mansion, Lily watched the young lovers from one of the back windows with disdain in her eyes. Calhoun, the boy she hated with all the strength in her, seemed to be truly happy with the street tramp and this pissed her off.
Why did Calhoun have to get everything? Why did he have to find love?
Heaven was cruel to her. She had done everything she could when the boy was younger to ruin him but nothing worked. His grandfather never seemed to find anything wrong with the boy. Lily had even gone as far as to bride his school teachers to give him harder questions in exams, just so he would fail. But the fool had been too lucky. He passed all his subjects while her sons failed woefully. This made their grandfather love them even less. Her sons didn't get enough love from their grandfather all because of Calhoun.
Even now that they were all older, Calhoun still outshone her sons.
"Not for long golden boy," she gritted through her teeth as she continued to glare at them. "This time, I have a master plan..."
She had Mr. Lawson senior right where she wanted. The man listened to every lie she brought to his ears like it were icing. She would make sure the man hated his grandson. She would make sure they had such a big fight, Mr Lawson would end up having no choice but to transfer all of Calhoun's inheritance to her sons.
It was finally time for her to take over the Calhoun family. She would not fail this time.
"Mother," Matt called softly beisde her.
Lily shook out of her wicked plans and narrowed her eyes on him. "What do you want?" She hissed.
"When am I going to get that sofia girl?" He wiggled his brows suggestively and Lily suppressed the urge she had to slap some sense into his dumb head.
"What nonsense are you spitting?" She hissed out darting her eyes around to make sure no one was listening to them despite the low level of her voice.
Matt rolled his eyes as if he was on the right and his mother was the delusional one. "The last time, father told me, she rejected Noah, so why can't I have her?" He demanded.
"You can't have her because it will mess things up! How many girls have I hooked you up with thus far?" Lily snarled. She had gone as far as to select elite and aristocrats daughters for Matt but each time he messed it up and now he dared to request for Sofia as well!
"Mother, those girls were no good in bed. I couldnt stay with them like some dog, naaah! My future is way brighter than some missionary daddy's girl!" He snapped and this time Lily couldn't stop herself.
A resounding vibration echoed along the walls of the corridor as Matt held his right cheek in shock. "Mother!" He cried out.
"Do not mother me, you useless child! Those girls were going to make us rich and you foulishly cheated on them and you did it so stupidly, you got caught! And now you dare request for Sofia? Have you gone mad?" She screeched.
Matt batted his eyes in shame as he held on to his cheeks. "But I could—"
"Enough!" Lily roared in anger. "You could and would do nothing! You hear me?" She flared up. "Sofia Brentwood is my trump card at this game and if you mess it up for me, I swear I will kill you myself!" She hissed and walked away from him.
She had out to much into this plan for her stupid son to mess it up for her all over again, like he had done the previous time. That was why this time, she chose Noah. He was a bit arrogant and immature but he would do fine. At least he already liked Sofia to an extent. He would stay faithful long enough for her to get her hands in Sofia's inheritance. By that time, she would have also convinced grandfather that Calhoun could no longer be trusted with the family's wealth and it would be transfered to Noah, who would have been married to Sofia by then.
She would be a multibillionaire in no time. She just had tk make sure her stupid son didn't ruin it.
"Lily, are you alright?"
Mr. Lawson senior's voice broke into her mind and she froze. She tried to normalise her breathing and planted a fake smile on her fake.
"Grandfather," she sang sweetly.
"You looked worried, are you alright?" He asked with with concern. He stood with his hands to his back and his eyes fixed firmly on her.
"Oh, I was just thinking about my dear nephew, calhoun. He is out there with the girl and I am getting restless... I hope she doesn't harm him," she said and watched how grandfather's face changed slightly. Her seed had been planted; victory was not farfetched.
"Hmmm, Calhoun is too stubborn... but we will make sure he sees that woman for who she truly is before they return," he said and Lily nodded as her heart rejoice at her victory.
