Chapter 20
On a flexible paved single lane road, was a two story building compartment of four apartments and one belonged to Ariana Brown. She didn't care about riches, all she ever wanted in life was to be fulfilled and be able to take care of herself. This apartment gave her all of that and more.
Aria had just returned from work and she had her bath. Her boss had stressed her so much she got home smelling like a bag of rotten potatoes. She hurried to the bathroom to soak her hair in shampoo. She took her time to scrub every part of her body nice and clean. She was humming to herself when the doorbell of the third apartment rang out. She wanted to ignore it because she wasn't expecting any visitors but the bell kept ringing in urgency.
Groaning, Aria tied a pink fluffy towel around her body then took a smaller one to wrap around her hair which still had shampoo in it. She ran out of her bathroom to open the door.
When she got to the door, she picked up the hole and saw a delivery man. A small frown appeared on her face, she hadn't ordered anything, who then was this for?
She pulled the door open to tell the delivery guy that he was at the wrong apartment. It was such a large building it was actually normal for delivery men to get lost, Aria has had her orders delivered at the wrong door lots of times, so she didn't really find it offensive.
"Good afternoon ma'am," the delivery guy began but before he could say more Aria stopped him.
"I didn't make any order sir, let me see the name attached to it, maybe I can help point you to the right door," she told the guy. She knew a few of her neighbors by name so she was sure she could help the guy out.
The man checks the slip in his hands and looks back up at Aria, "I have a package for miss Ariana Brown, do you know her?"
A frown grows on Aria's face as she listens to the man. "Can I see that?" She asked him, stretching her hands to the paper in his hands.
The man handed the slip to her and Aria, confirmed that it was indeed her name and address. "But I didn't order any of these..." She wondered out loud.
The delivery man shrugged and handed him a form to sign that she had received it either way.
" I don't know about that but they have all been paid for, all you have to do is sign here and I will be on my way," the man said, pointing the space out for Aria.
Aria signed the document and watched with wide eyes as the man brought in even more bags into her apartment. The side of her door was filled with shopping bags from major dress and jewelry outlets in the country. They were places she would never go to for shopping, yet whoever sent this, did it for her anyway.
Aria shut the door behind her as she started to wonder who sent the packages. She wanted to tear through the bags and see what kinds of dresses were in them but her hair was starting to drip through the towel she tied on her hair. She left the living room and ran back to the bathroom.
Even as she scrubbed her hair she couldn't stop thinking about who could have sent her so many expensive things all at once. She finished cleaning herself up and went to her room to pick out a large t-shirt and shorts. Her hair was now, clean and fresh. She was too tired to make dinner so she took out a pack of bread she has had in the fridge for a while and started munching In it.
After her quick snack, she gulps down a glass of juice and walks back to the living area to start going through the bags. Maybe the delivery man made a mistake the name was spent wring. She didn't ask for any of these.
The bag contained beautiful long dresses, ranging from beautiful evening dresses, red carpet ready dresses, and some casual pieces she could actually wear. She is about to don't through the bag containing pieces of jewelry when the bell rings again.
"Maybe he had realized his mistake and was back to pick it up again," Aria told herself as she scurried to the door.
"I told you it wasn't mi—" Aria was saying but the moment she opened the door, her words hung in her mouth. The pain she thought she had been able to overcome returned back to her in ten folds.
Looking at the man in front of her she felt so much anger and pain, her heart broke all over again. "What are you doing here?" She snapped
"Did you get my gifts?" He asked, smiling confidently at himself like the gift was supposed to announce his arrival.
Aria understood now were those expensive gifts had come from. He was the only one capable of that.
"You think because you bought me a few expensive gifts, I will just forgive and forget? Ethan, what do you take me for?"
He looked a bit confused as she spoke to him. "Aria, do you want me to get you more? If you find it small I can always call my shopper to get every shop in the city brought to your room!" He said.
Aria narrowed her eyes at him wondering how she even fell in love with him in the first place. Ethan was so materialistic. He thought everything could be solved with a wave of money. He didn't realize how much he had hurt her and he thought he could solve the problem by buying more gifts.
"Ethan, please leave!" She barked shocking him.
"Aria what are you saying?" Ethan asked and for the first time, he looked pained.
"I said leave!" She screamed.
