Chapter 207
"They are here!" Elsie squealed as she saw Ariana and Calhoun's car approach the house.
They drove inside the Mansion and Mrs Lawson could not contain her excitement. In one month she was going to deliver a baby.
Today was the gender reveal party. This was supposed to be done on her forth month. But there was so many things she couldn't do it.
Elsie rushed towards the car to help Ariana out.
Her baby bump was bigger and she was fatter than the last time she came. She almost looked like a ball.
Ariana struggled out of the car and with Elsie's help then finally she came out.
"You look lovely as ever," Elsie said as she caressed her face, she placed both of her palms up and kissed them lightly.
"Thank you aunt Elsie," she said with a sweet smile.
"Don't call me aunt, I'm not even old enough to give birth to you dear,"she said
"I'm sorry Elsie," she replied.
"What is this redness on your palm?" Elsie questioned wth a frown as she stared at them.
"Oh that's just a bruise I got," Ariana said.
"Bruise? Did Calhoun hit you? Calhoun did you touch my Ariana?" She asked as she plunged toward him about to hit his face.
"Why would I hit my wife? Obviously it was an accident," He defended himself.
"Oh well i don't trust men of this generation anymore they could turn wicked at the last minute!" she retorted.
"No she hit her hands when she was trying to get something off the shelf," he explained to her.
"And where were you? Couldn't you help her to bring it down? Now she's all bruised thanks to you," She said as she nurtured the hands.
"Come dear let's go in, everybody is waiting for you," she said as she gently guided her inside the house.
"Wow the decorations are beautiful," Ariana exclaimed as she saw the beautiful balloons float on the roof.
As beautiful as they were they were also dangerous, because they were filled with helium, if it caught fire the burning rubber could fall on people head.
The balloons were of two colors. They were in sky blue and a baby pink.
The cake in the center of the room was a white colour and there were also donuts beside them.
"Hey!" Lisa squeaked excitedly as she saw her.
"Awwwn you made it!" Ariana said.
"I could fight with the world to never miss this day!" She said before they hugged.
For the gender reveal party they had to find the string in the middle of the cake and drag it out. The last colour it stopped at was the baby's gender.
Ariana was excited to play this game, she had only seen them on videos she had never actually seen them play it in real life.
Everyone stood at the corner waiting for the mother of the baby and the father to arrive.
Only Elsie knew the baby's gender because she received the test results.
Aria walked towards the cake with Calhoun beside her, she was rubbing her right thumb on her left wrist. While Lisa sat with the other family members
"So how does this work? I just start pulling?" Ariana asked and Elsie laughed.
"No dear we have a little tradition for a gender reveal party, first make a toast," she said and Aria nodded her head.
She raised the glass of champagne that was beside the cake and Calhoun did the samre. Aria had not realise that everyone was holding a glass in their hand.
"I have never made a toast before," Ariana laughed nervously.
"Erm I'll do it a little bit my way, first of all, I would like to say I may be among one of the luckiest women on earth to have Calhoun as a husband and such a marvelous family. I also want to appreciate my brother for being there for me, I don't know where I would have to been without you guys in my life, cheers to good life and good health," she concluded and Daniel air kissed her from where he was sat with the rest of the family.
Ariana and Calhoun clinged their glasses together while the others clinged with there partners.
Ariana placed down her glass.
It was time for Mr Calhoun senior to take the speech.
"So what gender is the baby going to be?" She spoke softly besides Calhoun's ear as his grand father started to speak.
"It's going to be a girl obviously," He said.
"It's going to be a boy," She answered, "I know it and I can feel it." Ariana added.
"Your instincts might be wrong, and mine might be correct," He said before he smiled.
Mr Lawson finished the speech and they clapped hands.
"It's the moment you all have been waiting for, but first feed us cake," Aunt Bianca said as she tapped her fingers excitedly.
"I forgot to say something, it's not a string this time, there are two coloured liquorice on the cake one blue and one pink, if the end of the liquorice is the same colour as the other then that's the baby's gender," Elsie added.
Ariana was confused but she just went along with what Elsie said and did as she was told. No one wanted to offend Elsie.
Ariana cut a piece of the cake and fed everyone round and she ate the last bite.
She returned to her station with her big bump exhausted. She requested for a chair and some water.
They had to wait for her to feel better before they revealed the gender.
Ariana sat on the chair for more than ten minutes before she finally found the strength to continue what she was doing.
They played some music as Ariana placed the pink liquorice in her mouth and Calhoun placed the blue one in his mouth.
They both started eating it out of the cake, Ariana eat as slow as possible while Calhoun eat fast.
He was curious and Ariana was too tired to put up a competition.
Calhoun finished his first and he already felt happy he knew he was going to win.
But he was happy when the liquorice came out pink at the end but to his shock it came out blue at the end.
"No it's cheating!" He yelled and Ariana laughed at him.
"It was supposed to be a baby girl," Rosa said as she frowned her face. She turned her back and folded her hands refusing to talk to anyone.
"Oh, I am sorry Rosa the next baby is going to be a girl," She said to the angry little girl from where she stood.
"But I wanted one now!" She whined.
"Then pray to God that he gives you a baby sister next time," Calhoun said to her.
"I also wanted a baby girl but I guess a mother knows best," Calhoun said as he approached Rosa.
He bent down and opened his hands so she could come in for a bear hug and she ran towards him.
"But guess what little princess," He said.
"I'm guessing but I have nothing so What?" She replied in her tiny voice.
"I still have a little baby girl you know," Calhoun said.
"And who is that?" She asked still hugging him.
He patted her gently on her back before he ran his fingers through her hair.
"That's my little Rosa and My little Aria and I have a secret to tell you," He whispered in her ear.
Rosa broke from his hug and placed the right side of her face close to his ear.
"Ariana is also a big princess," He whispered and she giggled.
"Aunty Ariana is a big baby!" Rosa yelled as she ran around in the house and everyone laughed at how silly she behaved.
"Play some music!" Ariana yelled and Nikita increased the volume of the Speaker.
She happily took Calhoun's hands and danced with her around the house. They watched her as she behaved silly. They all couldn't help but laugh until they also joined them and danced. The music was Ariana's favourite song and she placed her hands on Calhoun's neck so she could dance with him.
"I told you I was going to win," she said to him as he held her waist.
"I just let you have it because I didn't want you to get all sad that you didn't win the bet," He said.
"Cant you accept the fact that you are a sore loser?" Ariana asked before she laughed at him.
"Stop the music!" A familiar voice yelled and Ariana felt her heart sink and her stomach tightened. Memories flowed in her head and she bit her lips.
She looked at the door. It was none other than Sofia Brentwood.
"So Ariana Brown or should I say Ariana Lawson, you are having a gender reveal ceremony and you refused to invite me? Have you forgotten how much we wanted to have one? Have you forgotten when I told you, I would be your child's Godmother or did you suddenly change your mind and make that bitch the godmother of your child?" She said as she pointed at Lisa.
"We are no longer friends you know that so please leave this place immediately!" Ariana said angry.
"This party do you know who it is missing?" Sofia asked with a smile plastered on her face.
"It is missing your boyfriend Ethan, he should have been here in Calhoun's place you know? But you were just a bloody bitch that wanted money so you decided to go for the bigger fish!" She spat.
"I think I told you to never step your legs inside this house anymore?" Calhoun said as he approached her.
"Stay the fuck away from me you bastard!" Sofia cursed before she brought the gun and pointed it at him.
"Woah!" Calhoun raised his hands up as he moved back.
"Now everyone put your knees on the floor!" She yelled as she pointed the gun at everyone.
"Hey hey calm down and put the Godammed gun down! There is a pregnant woman in the house please drop your gun!" Noah yelled at her.
"Pregnant woman? You say? I don't give a fuck if she's carrying the president's daughter everybody get down!" She said.
Everyone got down on the floor but she stopped Aria and Lisa.
"Not the both of you!" She declared with a smile.
"So the both of you, it's really sad that you guys are going to die today," she said.
Calhoun slowly moved back so he could reach where Ariana was. He already saw the men at Sofia's back. All he needed was a swift distraction so they would be able to get her down.
It felt like it was a movie the moment Calhoun kicked Ariana down the bullet missed the middle of her stomach and hit her side.
Ariana fell to the floor, the security men managed to get Sofia on the floor. One of them kicked the gun to the side.
"Ariana!" Bianca yelled as she shook the unconscious Ariana on the floor. They had to rush her to the hospital.
Calhoun didn't even bother to yell at the security men. Because how was it possible that they allowed someone as small as Sofia pass through them.
He carried Ariana to the car while he yelled at them to call the police.
They went to the same city hospital they went to where they found out she was pregnant.
Immediately she was rushed to ICU.
"Doctor, how is she?" Calhoun Asked the moment he saw the doctor pop out of the room.
"We are trying our best," she said before she walked to the place she was going to.
Bianca and Elsie had already come to support Calhoun in the hospital.
He couldn't help but start to pace. Bianca and Elsie rubbed his back trying to calm him down.
Then after what felt like forever the doctor came out.
"Doctor how is she?" Calhoun asked while Elsie and Bianca stared at her with huge eyes.
"She is fine," She said and Calhoun felt like cold water on a sunny day.
"And the child?" Elsie asked.
"Congratulations, Mr Lawson your wife gave birth to a bouncing baby boy," She said.
