Chapter 67
The girl was still talking but Ariana had gone rigid. The Lawson's group!
The fucking Lawson group had called her for a job!
It took every power in her vein to make her remain calm and not scream at the top of her lungs. Zion had finally fulfilled his promise!
"...I have forwarded your employment briefing to you via mail. Please go through it and let us know what you think," she concluded.
Who needed a briefing! She would accept it even if they offered nothing working for the Lawson's was everybody's dream job!
"Thank you very much," Ariana managed to reply.
"Do have a nice day and I am hoping to have a cordial work relationship with you soon! Bye!"
The line went dead before Aria could respond. She had gotten a job with the Lawson's group!
"Argh!" She screamed jumping around like a lunatic. The fucking Lawson group called her personally! "Oh my God!" She yelled again as she tried to stay calm.
She unlocked her phone and called Zion. she would have to thank him for the huge favor he had done for her.
"Hello!" She screeched on the phone.
"Hey, Easy there, do you plan on ruining my ears?" Zion responded with a laugh.
"Oh, my God Zion, they called!" Aria yelled ignoring Zion's warning. "I'll be working for the Lawson's group!"
"No, you won't. Not until you respond to your mail young lady," Zion said feigning sternness.
"Oh sure. I will fill it up and sign it right away. Oh, Zion! Thank you so much. Words can not explain how grateful I am that you got me this job! I have been searching for jobs all over the city but Alice ruined everything for me!" Aria went on and on, nonstop. Her excitement could not be tamed. She was already giving up. She had forgotten about ever getting a job with the constant rejection she kept getting from where she had applied.
Alice and Sofia wanted to ruin her but now luck was on her side. She had gotten a job with the first company on the lips of every graduate in the country.
"Aria, go reply to your mail so my boss can approve it right now. He is in the office." Zion informed her.
"Oh, okay, thanks again... And I'll call again!" She added before the line went dead.
She ran to her room, where she had abandoned her laptop. She jumped on her bed and got into it. She pulled her hair to the back with a band that was always in her hand as she started scrolling through the system, heading to her mailbox.
Aria smiled as the company's logo flashed in front of her eyes. Lisa was going to die when she told her about this. She downloaded the file and went through the contract as fast as she could. She didn't care if she had to work for her entire life, she would still sign a fat yes!
The salary was already twice the payment Alice used to give her. This was a miracle.
A happy tear slipped from her eyes as she signed the document and resent it back to the secretary.
"This is really happening!" She whispered to herself as she sat glued to the screen. Zion had told her the boss was around so she should be getting a response anytime soon. She would not leave the system until she got a reply.
In one of the documents, she was asked when she wanted to start working and she wrote on a Thursday which happened to be the next day. If they asked her to, she would even resume today if possible.
A notification came from her laptop and Aria blinked as she clicked on it.
"Yes!" She screamed with joy. They had approved her employment. She didn't even read the document further. All she needed was the approval.
She snatched her phone from the bed and called Lisa. She couldn't wait for her to get back before she informed her about this.
"Hello!" She screeched happily.
"Hey, slow down I am in the toilet, shouting is making the echo drive me crazy! What's up?" Lisa hissed.
Ariana took a deep breath and sat back down on her bed with crossed legs. "Lisa," she started.
"Yes, Aria speaks before I lose my mind here," Lisa replied. She just ran from a stupid meeting with Alice and she wasn't in the best of moods and the fact that Aria wasn't saying what happened was making her uneasy. Lisa hated surprises.
"Lisa, I have gotten a job!" Aria finally blurted as she bit her fingers trying to control her excitement.
"Huh?" Lisa asked as the words took longer for her brain to place them together.
"Yes, Lisa. I have gotten a job! And guess where?"
Lisa still found it hard to believe because Alice had just told her to send a mail on her behalf to every firm in the city that collaborated with them one way or another telling them not to employ Ariana even as a cleaner. So Ariana saying she had gotten a job was pretty hard to believe and heart breaking.
"Where?" Lisa asked despite herself. She couldn't bring it out of her mouth. Aria was so excited about the job, she couldn't burst her bubbles like this... Not on the phone.
"The Lawson Group!" Aria screamed. She jumped up from the bed in expectation of Lisa's equal squeal but nothing came from her friend's end.
This was unlike Lisa. "Lisa, is something wrong?" Aria asked as she lowered herself once again to the bed. "Did Alice do something?"
Lisa gulped down the pain in her throat and decided to respond. "We will talk when I get home dear, just take good care of yourself and don't worry about anything. Everything will be fine."
Aria couldn't understand what her friend was saying. Why did she sound like she knew something Aria didn't? Had Alice done something?
But before Aria could ask her, the phone went dead and Aria slumped on the bed. Could Alice take this job away from her too?
No, that wasn't possible. Or was it?
