Chapter 73
Mr. Lawson's chair was facing the large glass window behind him and as Zion spoke, he slowly turned the chair in their direction and Aria thought she had seen a ghost.
"You!"
Zion turned to glare at me and I didn't even pay him any attention. The person I was seeing in that chair couldn't possibly be Mr. Lawson. It couldn't.
"Carl?" I asked just to be sure even if my eyes were looking at the devil smirk at me.
He wasn't a tidbit surprised, he knew exactly what he was doing. He knew about this. Was this some kind of acting? Did he have a look-alike?
My vision and my brain refused to correlate. I felt intense pain on the side of my head and I thought I would go mad. How could Carl, a sex worker be Mr. Lawson, owner, and CEO of the famous and powerful Lawson Group? How?
I turned back to Zion, who remained by the door watching our reaction. While I acted like I had gone crazy, Carl had a satisfactory smirk on his face.
"Zion, is this your boss?" Aria squealed trying to lower her voice and hide her shock and panic but it didn't work. She was certain her shock reverberated on the entire floor.
"Yes, this is my boss," Zion replied.
"Oh my God!" Aria exclaimed holding her forehead.
When they had stepped foot into the room and Aria had screamed at the sight of his boss, he was scared they would both lose their jobs. For Mr, Calhoun Lawson would surely take it as a waste of his time from not just Aria but also him. But now, seeing the smirk on his boss's face, he seemed to be enjoying the shock on Aria's face.
Zion remembered how he had eagerly asked Sarah to send Aria a mail the moment he mentioned her name to him. Back then he thought he must have known the name from Alice but seeing his reaction, he surely knew her from a different place. Even Aria's reaction confirmed it. They knew one another.
"Zion, can you please step out. I'll like to talk to Miss Brown privately," Calhoun said in his usual thick and stern voice.
Aria turned to look at Zion and he signaled to her that she would be fine.
"Of course sir," Zion bowed slightly before walking out of the room.
Aria felt goosebumps spring up her hands. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"This is a lie, right? This is a sick prank isn't it?" She asked him as Zion left.
Calhoun got up from his seat and walked to her. As he came closer she saw the image of the suit he had worn to her house the last time he came, she thought it was too expensive for a sex worker to afford but she didn't think much of it for someone could have given him... But she was wrong. The way he walked spoke of power, she was just too blind to see it. She remembered the first night they met, that bartender...
"My flower," he whispered as he got closer to her. He passed a finger across her cheek and smiled.
"That bartender..." Aria tried to speak but the words couldn't leave her mouth. That man had warned her. He had called Calhoun the young president. Everyone in that damn bar was scared of him.
She was so stupid!
She took a step back and shook her head. She couldn't let herself get entangled with another rich guy. She couldn't.
Calhoun saw the conflict in her eyes and he frowned. He held her arm before she could runoff.
"Ariana, what's wrong?" He growled.
"You are a Lawson?" Aria asked as her lips shook. It was another thing when she thought he was a sex worker. But now he was what she had just promised herself never to get attached with anymore.
Calhoun was confused. He didn't know how to respond to the question. A lot of women would kill to be in her position but Ariana was thinking of running away.
"I am a Lawson and?" He asked her firmly.
Aria shook her head refusing to believe it. She was starting to like him. She was already seeing a friend in him. He was there for her and now she had to take him out. Her heart was starting to hurt.
"I have to go..." She whispered in a hoarse voice. A lump sat in her throat and she knew it wouldn't take long before the tears fell. "Please let me go..." She pleaded with him.
Calhoun was shocked at her reaction. He didn't expect her to cry. His heart squeezed as he saw a tear escape from her beautiful eyes. She was so beautiful. She wasn't made to cry. Her beautiful face was only created to smile and laugh.
Fuck!
Ariana was starting to make him emotional. He had to let her be for now. Until he could convince her of how he felt. Showing her his true identity was only the beginning.
"Fine," he whispered dropping his strong arms around her. He took a few steps away from her and cleared his throat.
Ariana had thought she would have the strength to leave the moment he met her go, but she found her kegs go weak as an emptiness replaced the space around her. Her traitorous body wanted him to keep touching her despite the fact that her head was telling her to run.
"You may take the day off but you need to be here tomorrow if you want to keep your job," he said.
Her heart skipped a beat as he mentioned the job. She had completely forgotten about the job and how important it was to her. She sniffed and nodded.
"Use your words," he growled at her. When she nodded like this, it made his cock twitch. The action made her look vulnerable and sweet, just the way he liked his women.
"Thank you... Sir," she said and turned before her mouth would say something else which she didn't plan.
As she pulled the door to step out she heard his voice and her heart stopped.
"By the way, remember we made a deal."
