Chapter 78
The sound of her phone ringing woke her up from sleep and Aria rushed to drag it from the bedside table. It was late in the evening and she didn't realize how stressed she was until she slept off. She wouldn't have been up to it if not for the phone that had started blaring.
Without checking who it was, she picked it up and placed it on her ear. "Hello," she replied with a sleepy voice.
"When your voice sounds this sexy, I have no choice but to stroke my cock, Ariana..."
The sound of his voice got all the sleep out of her system. She got up from bed immediately and clutched the phone to her ears.
It was Carl!
Her heart started beating at a very fast rate and her core got tighter as she tried to control her hormones. She was going hyper just thinking of what to do.
"You owe me something, Ariana... Do you remember?" He asked in a voice Ariana could only describe as sensual torture. How could she work with this man?
"Ariana... Say something," he whispered and Ariana felt the air made by each of the words he pronounced roll over her ears like he was right beside her.
Goosebumps appeared on her body and she clutched the bedsheets. How could someone wake up to this? Her head could not think straight. Everywhere she searched, she saw him and his dangerous body that night. The way he rolled over her. The way he kissed her, she couldn't breathe. She couldn't speak.
"If you don't talk... I'll come to your place," he threatened. His voice was soft but this sentence came out sharper than the others. It did the trick for Ariana finally found the words she so desperately searched for.
"I am- I am fine..." She blurted and Calhoun laughed.
The sound of his laughter was as seductive as the rest of the sounds that left his mouth. This couldn't be right —Aria thought. How could one person be so perfect, yet so wrong?
This was Lawson Calhoun she was fantasizing about! She was going mad!
"You didn't use the right words, come open the door," he breathed in a hoarse voice.
Aria became aware of her surroundings again. A shrill ringing at the door made her realize he had ended the call a while ago. The ringing came up again and her heart was no longer stable. Butterflies erupted from everywhere and she felt like her entire body was getting kidnapped. Her skin was flushed from the sexual tension Calhoun had done to her and her legs felt weak.
She got up from the bed and moved to the living room with a shaky heart. What if he was the one and this wasn't a joke?
The questions kept going on in her head but then she shook her head to wipe out her crazy fantasy. He was a Lawson! He was only messing with her. Why would a Lawson play mouse games with a commoner like her?
The strange little talk gave her legs the strength they needed to get to the door. But as soon as she neared it and tried to pull open the door, she felt the uneasiness return. The hair at the back of her neck rose and she felt cold and warm all at once.
The bell rang again and she jumped as she had completely forgotten she was a couple of inches away from it. Gathering up courage, she pulled the door open, and there in front of her stood the reason for her hormonal war, Calhoun.
He stood there with the same suit he had on in the office. It was like he never left his house. Her house was the first place he thought of coming to.
"Are you going to invite me in, or are you going to keep ogling at me?" He asked with a devilish smirk.
The same smirk that always melted her insides. Her folds were a mess and she didn't need to dip her fingers to realize it. She was gone when it came to Calhoun.
Without responding, she stepped aside leaving the way for him to enter. Her eyes were glued to the ground. She found this was easier to do than staring into his handsome face. She pushed the door close and just stood there, waiting for him to speak.
"You look amazing..." He whispered in a husky voice. She raised her eyes from under her lashes and she caught an emotion that was almost the same as what she was feeling in her heart. It was like she had the same effect on him as she had. But she could never be so sure, Calhoun would have been with countless women. She had to be strong. She couldn't be this weakling anymore.
Fisting her hands, she raised her head to stare at something behind him and frowned. "Why are you here, sir?" The last syllable was said with as much venom as she could muster even if her insides were screaming for her to kiss him.
Calhoun's smirk deepened and he took a step closer to her. He raised a finger and brought it to her chin, caressing it ever so gently. "Attitude... Beautiful, I love it."
Aria was melting by something as simple as a caress. She had to take charge. Against her will, she pushed his hands away and her frown got even deeper. "I asked you a question, sir?" She fired.
"I came here to get my prize..." He started and Aria gulped. She knew exactly what he was talking about but she decided to play smart.
"What prize are you talking about?"
Calhoun didn't seem shaken at all by her antics. He knew her move even before she played for he had studied the game field.
"We agreed on the phone that if you got the job, we will have one more night together and you accepted..." He said staring into her eyes but he saw that she couldn't look at his face for too long.
