Chapter 534 - He Is the One Who Can Protect Her

Lu Boyan and Shen Yuechuan left just like that. The other members of the MR Group noticed that Xia Mili was in a bad mood, so they left one after another.

Only Yuan Xun and Xia Mili were left in the large private room.

Xia Mili held a long and thin filter cigarette between her slender alabaster fingers and lit it. She looked like a decadent beauty with the other end of the long cigarette glowing calmly.

She took a few long drags on her cigarette and almost burst into tears. Yuan Xun kindly handed her a tissue.

Xia Mili took the tissue and dabbed her eyes. "Boss Yuan, as a man, do you think that he mentioned his wife in front of me on purpose?"

Yuan Xun lit a cigarette like Xia Mili just did with a sigh. "Perhaps he found out that you are still interested in him. He wants nothing to do with you, so he did that on purpose."

After a pause, Yuan Xun went on to say, "But don't you think there are few men in this world who would only have one woman in their lives, let alone a man of men like Lu Boyan? Maybe you are thinking too much."

Xia Mili looked at Yuan Xun and said, "Do you mean that most men won't be loyal to their wives forever?"

"Yes." Yuan Xun took a drag on his cigarette while ogling Xia Mili. "It's a question whether a man can control himself or not, especially in the face of a woman like you."

Xia Mili stubbed out her cigarette and smiled at him. Then she picked up her bag and left without hesitation.

Xia Mili walked out of the hotel and made a call on her way to the parking lot. "Where are you? I want to meet you."

"I'm at the mansion uptown." The male voice at the other end of the line sounded as if it had come from the dark and cold hell. "But it's not convenient for me to meet you here. Let's meet at Zero One Club on Tianning Road. Someone will take care of you. I'll be there later."

"Okay," Xia Mili said without hesitation, "I'll be there in 30 minutes."

Lu Boyan and Shen Yuechuan were on their way home when Xia Mili drove toward the Zero One Club.

The driver of the company asked Shen Yuechuan, "Special Assistant Shen, are you going back to your apartment?"

"No," Shen Yuechuan said with an unconscious smile. "Drive me to the Eighth People's Hospital."

The driver cast a glance at Shen Yuechuan in bewilderment. He didn't think that Shen Yuechuan was sick.

Lu Boyan also looked at Shen Yuechuan. "Why are you going to the hospital?"

Shen Yuechuan simply asked, "Can't I see a doctor there?"

Lu Boyan sneered. "If you want to see a doctor, you can go to the private hospital nearby with better facilities and more skilled doctors. Why do you have to go to Yunyun's hospital?"

"…" Shen Yuechuan cursed himself in his mind for being seen through. He raised his hand and motioned for Lu Boyan to look at the gauze. "I'm going there to ask Yunyun to change my dressing."

Lu Boyan was silent for a moment. "You got hurt because you helped Yunyun yesterday, didn't you?"

"Oh, you guessed it." Shen Yuechuan smiled with pride. "Yes, I hurt my hand because of Xiao Yunyun. She has to take responsibility for me! But, how did you know that?"

"It's easy to see," Lu Boyan said leisurely, "From what I know of Yunyun, she would never agree to help you change your dressing if it were not for you being injured because of her, right?"

Shen Yuechuan's smile suddenly froze on his face. "Lu Boyan, you're going too far! You're not supposed to just come out with it. Why don't you just keep it to yourself? By the way, did the Zhong Family talk with you about it?"

Lu Boyan said, "Zhong Lue called me and apologized. What do you think?"

"What's the point of apologizing!" Shen Yuechuan gnashed his teeth. "He would have dragged Yunyun into the elevator if I hadn't arrived in time that day!"

With that said, Shen Yuechuan suddenly remembered something.

Xiao Yunyun called out his name before being dragged into the elevator by Zhong Lue.

Back then, Su Yicheng and Luo Xiaoxi, who had always been close to Xiao Yunyun, were both in the hotel. However, she called out his name when she was in danger.

He wondered, "Does it mean that in Xiao Yunyun's eyes, I'm the one who can protect her?"

The driver stopped the car as Shen Yuechuan felt secretly delighted by his thought. "Special Assistant Shen, the hospital is here."

Shen Yuechuan unbuckled his seat belt and got out of the car. He waved to Lu Boyan with his back to the car and strode into the inpatient department of the hospital without looking back.

Xiao Yunyun was on duty in the inpatient department of cardiac surgery that night.

The driver could tell that Shen Yuechuan was in a good mood without even seeing his face. He smiled and asked Lu Boyan, "Boss Lu, shall I drive you home?"

"Yeah." After a pause, Lu Boyan added, "Drive faster."

The driver knew that Lu Boyan was eager to go home, so he sped up the car as he answered him. The car reached Dingya Villas in less than 40 minutes.

In the house, Su Jianan was sitting on the sofa in the living room with a tablet computer in her hand, swiping her fingers on the screen. It seemed that she was searching for something.

Upon hearing noises at the door, she looked over subconsciously and found that Lu Boyan was back. She stood up and walked over. Lu Boyan stopped her as she was about to take out his slippers from the shoe cabinet. "I'll do it."

It was not convenient for her to do actions like bending over because of her swollen belly.

Su Jianan caught a whiff of perfume as Lu Boyan sat down and changed his shoes.

It was Chanel No. 5.

She could tell from the faint smell that it wasn't from intimate touch. It was likely that Lu Boyan had stayed in the same room with the person who wore that kind of perfume for too long, and his clothes picked up the perfume as a result.

She thought that Xia Mili was the one who wore the perfume.

Su Jianan felt upset as she thought of the photos of Lu Boyan and Xia Mili walking into the hotel together, although she knew that there was nothing between the two.

Lu Boyan changed his shoes and stood up only to look into Su Jianan's eyes. He found that she looked upset, but he simply thought for a while and then asked, "Have you had dinner?"

"Yes," Su Jianan said nodding. "Yunyun came over in the afternoon and left after having dinner with me."

Lu Boyan smiled and took Su Jianan to the living room. "What were you looking at just now?"

"Babies' names." Su Jianan looked distressed. "We've only found a girl's name so far."

It was Lu Xinyi, which was given by Tang Yulan.

Lu Boyan picked up the tablet computer on the sofa and saw all kinds of information about names. He felt bored, so he turned off the computer and placed it aside. "Your due date is still a long way off. It won't be too late to think about it when the babies are born."

"But I can't find anything else to do except think about names." Su Jianan checked the time. "It's getting late. Go take a shower and go to bed early."

It was just past 9:00 p.m. when Lu Boyan finished his shower. He saw Su Jianan lying on the bed doing prenatal education as he emerged from the bathroom.

He walked over and lay down beside Su Jianan, and then he took the prenatal education instrument away.

Su Jianan looked at Lu Boyan in bewilderment. "It's not over yet."

"I have something to tell you," Lu Boyan said.

"Oh," Su Jianan said. She lay down with her face to Lu Boyan. "What's it about?" She had an intuition that it had to do with Xia Mili.

Lu Boyan thought for a moment and said, "Tell me first, how do you know that Xia Mili has returned from abroad?"

Su Jianan compressed her lips, realizing that she couldn't avoid that question. She got up to take a packet and handed it to Lu Boyan.

Lu Boyan emptied the packet and saw a small stack of photos. He frowned deeply as soon as he saw the first one.

The photo showed him helping Xia Mili into the hotel. It looked like Xia Mili was in his arms, and they looked very close.

The last photo showed him walking out of the hotel alone. The time on the lower right corner of it showed that it had been nearly three hours since he entered the hotel with Xia Mili, which was long enough to stir the imagination.

Lu Boyan asked in a low voice, "When did you get it?"

Su Jianan was very calm. "The day after you went to the hotel with Xia Mili." After a pause, she went on, "I can give you a chance to explain. Tell me what happened that night. When I received the photos, it occurred to me that you returned home after taking a shower that night!"

Lu Boyan kneaded his temples hard. "I went to the hotel with Xia Mili because she was drunk. As her classmate, I was supposed to send her back to the hotel."

Su Jianan looked jealous. "What if I'm drunk?"

Lu Boyan raised his eyebrow. "You're my wife. I'll take you home if you're drunk."

Su Jianan failed to hold back her laughter, which showed that she was very satisfied with the answer. She pointed to the time shown on the photo and asked, "You stayed with her for more than two hours after you entered the hotel with Xia Mili. Why did you stay there for so long?"

Lu Boyan said, "Xia Mili was drunk. She mistook me for her ex-husband and asked me not to leave, and she finally threw up on me. Frankly, I was taking a shower most of the time."

Su Jianan thought for a moment and found that Lu Boyan's words were irrefutable, so she said, "Oh, I see."

"Well." Lu Boyan gazed at Su Jianan. "Now it's my turn—how do you know Xia Mili?"

Su Jianan subconsciously avoided eye contact with Lu Boyan. However, she heard the voice of Lu Boyan issuing orders before she could fix her eyes on something else. "Jianan, tell me the truth."

"I will." Su Jianan pursed her lips. "I got a line on the gossip about you and Xia Mili when I was at school. I knew that she was interested in you!"

Lu Boyan smiled. "Now are you worried that she's still interested in me?"

"Yes," Su Jianan said firmly, "but I know you'll never cheat on me."

Lu Boyan looked at Su Jianan with a brighter smile. "Why didn't you ask me about it when you received the photos?"

"Because I knew it didn't happen like that," Su Jianan said, "On the other hand, I wanted to know who had taken those photos and why he had sent them to me."

A cold look flashed across Lu Boyan's face before he looked at Su Jianan. "Honey, I'll tell you about it as soon as I find it out."
