Chapter 16
Clara's POV
I dashed inside, making careful to draw the curtains and shut all of the blinds.
To make sure nobody was trailing after us, I took one more look through the curtain.
Ivy attempted to comfort me, "It's alright; I'm sure no one is following us."
Just in case, I turned off our lights so it would seem like nobody was at home.
"He's going to send his henchmen to follow me again; I'm in so much difficulty right now." I went crazy.
Ivy motioned for me to inhale deeply.
"Relax, I promised to assist you in developing a plan. The problem will only become worse if you get panicked." Ivy went on.
The sound of an essential being turned in our front door reached my ears. With its loud sound, the door split open, and Mom entered carrying a large package.
"Why is this place so dark?" As I walked in, Mom questioned.
Dragging her school bag and another bag containing her sports gear, Katy trailed afternoon her mother.
"You know how much the previous energy bill was," I said.
"Also, the curtains?" Mom inquired.
"I've heard that there is a psychopath prowling the neighbourhood. Shut the shades and avoid going near the door." I forewarned.
I couldn't have my mother, who is in good health, opening the door when Derek chose to drop by. I had to get this resolved before everything in my life fell apart. There was only one way out of this, deep down, I knew.
I said, "Ivy and I will be in my room upstairs."
Ivy and I hurried to my room, and Mom gave me a strange look.
Before shutting my bedroom door, I quickly looked down the hall to ensure they weren't following us.
I was pacing my room nervously as Ivy sat on my bed.
"Well, so we need to be a lot wiser about this and get rid of this issue as quickly as we can because one thing is clear—he is beginning to catch on," Ivy said.
I nodded, nervously chewing my nails, "So this is the idea." Ivy started.
Suddenly, we were distracted by the sound of my door knob twisting. Ivy and I kept silent to find out who it was.
It was likely the last of our microwave popcorn when Katy came in with a bowl of popcorn.
"You need a doctor to verify your fake pregnancy if you want to make this thing seem legitimate. In this manner, you will never lose your work again, and he will feel bad for you when you lose the baby." Says Katy.
With our jaws hanging wide, Ivy and I gazed at her. Were we even discussing the same thing?
"You want to know how I worked this out?" Says Katy. She immediately put a handful of popcorn in her mouth. For her to clarify, we waited for her to finish munching.
"What are you discussing?" I tried to be reasonable when I asked.
"I am aware of your fictitious pregnancy," she asserted.
My eyes widened at what she said, shocked.
"Hurry up. You are a walking, talking sugar daddy. The ongoing secrecy and the fact that you can't buy a new phone." Says Katy. In addition, your phone is password-free, and you left it downstairs. It's possible that I saw your communications." She went on.
She returned the phone to my hand.
I said, "Katy, this is not what you think it is."
"So even though you never shared a bed, you didn't tell your employer you were pregnant?" With her arms crossed, she said.
Even lying to my younger sister was beyond my ability.
"You two need assistance in resolving this. Fortunately, I'm the perfect person to assist you since I have the family's intelligence and years of experience watching Telenovelas and seeing other people ruin their lives." Katy went on.
"You know what, please leave this place." I gestured toward the door.
"Please accept my assistance already. Yesterday, I noticed his automobile outside. It was also seen by a man who arrived here this morning and Ms. Simson from across the street. She almost told her mother, "Thank God I rescued you." Katy went on.
I exhaled.
"Perhaps if she could solve it, she could tell us what we're doing wrong so you won't be discovered," Ivy said.
We were doing everything incorrectly.
"Alright," I said. "But if I told Mom one thing, nobody would ever find out where I buried your corpse," I threatened.
With a grin, Katy sat next to Ivy to converse.
For a time, while we considered our options, none of us spoke.
"Perhaps you just need to roll yourself down the stairs," said Katy.
"I apologise. What? "I inquired. I furrowed both brows. I'm sure that this was my farthest raising of kids.
"Go ahead and tell him the next day that you lost the baby. He will demand confirmation, which entails obtaining documentation and seeing a doctor. Just go ahead and think about it. He is sceptical. Nevertheless, he would have video evidence and readily believe you if you were to roll yourself down the stairs while at work and then arrange for someone to transport you to the "hospital." You will also have a couple of days off from work." Katy went on.
"It's the most absurd thing I've ever heard," I said.
"What other means do you intend to lose the billionaire's child?" Arms crossed, Katy said.
Ivy said, "But she is correct about one thing—we must convince him of that." "To prevent him from becoming suspicious, you must wait a few more days to get pregnant. Before we take any more action, we must wait a little while." It was Ivy.
"This is more important for you than it is for me," Katy shoved the bowl of popcorn into my hands. "That belly makes it impossible to disguise being pregnant. That tummy won't grow much larger, so you need to start eating."
I stopped.
"I know you people are trying to assist, but I'm incapable of doing this. I will be honest with him." I said something. "I simply want to get on with my life without so many falsehoods; I'm tired of this entire spectacle."
Both Ivy and Katy looked at me in disbelief.
Has she struck her head? Says Katy.
Ivy decided, "It's probably because she is under a lot of stress."
"No, I'm not kidding. I will be honest with him. Ever since the beginning of this entire incident, I've been living in continuous fear of being discovered. I don't want to live this way any longer; I've lied more in a day than my whole life. I don't want to forfeit what little dignity I still possess." I said something.
Well, the end is nearly here. Telling him that you miscarried at that time is all that is needed. Ultimately, your mom is "ill." You may claim that the baby's closure was caused by stress." It was Ivy.
Katy nodded in agreement with Ivy's approach.
"I'm not kidding; I'm overlying. I do not want to raise the hopes of this unfortunate fellow. He insisted on seeing the doctor the next day, and I wouldn't be shocked if he had baby names planned." I said something.
"Have you seen him, Clara? He will be overjoyed to learn there isn't a baby, I promise. The last thing he needs to bind him to anybody or anything is a kid." It was Ivy.
I exhaled. "I can't keep lying like this longer; it's simply going to be his fortunate day."
"You don't lie to someone like that and expect nothing in return. You'll probably lose everything," said Katy. Despite the size of our home, I like having a place of my own. I've seen and read many novels about wealthy millionaires, and I promise you that the stories don't end happily." Katy cautioned.
"I don't want to see him for the rest of my life, recalling the lie I told. The worst he can do is fire me," I said something.
Does this need to be done? Says Katy. "When you told him you were pregnant, didn't you think about that?"
"I became anxious," I said.
Ivy let out a sigh.
"You know what, I'm simply going to return tomorrow to discuss this more after you've slept well. I hope getting some rest will help you b helps more rational." It was Ivy.
She got to her feet and got ready to go.
Ivy raised her hand to cut me off before I could say anything.
I was not going to back down from this.
Katy rolled over. We exited my room to see Ivy go.
Mom was humming to herself while preparing supper in the kitchen.
"Are you having supper here tonight?" Ivy asked Mom.
"Not right now. I promise to drop over at a later time," Ivy grinned.
Ivy was being picked up by a friend who was just around the block, so Katy and I waved Ivy off.
I was stopped at the entrance by Katy. "Are you certain that revealing the truth is what you want to do?" She muttered.
"You are my younger sister, Kathy. I have to be the one to lead by example. Under no circumstances is it acceptable to fake a pregnancy." I responded.
I've seen plenty of villains in movies do this, but I never imagined that I would be following suit.
She said, "Couldn't you develop a conscience on another day."
"Are you not doing your homework?" Asking Katy.
"We were given homework from our textbook by our arithmetic instructor, which I did last summer." She said, In addition, I don't think going to school or trying is worthwhile. In any case, I'm probably simply going to clean up after other people like you." She said,
I shook my head at her and said, "Don't say that."
"You have to obtain a job to support us, even if you might have had a better life and pursued your goals. You know how costly education may be, and I don't want to live out the rest of my days repaying debt." She went on.
"Besides, I don't mind obtaining another job just so you'll be able to fulfil your aspirations; Mom is beginning to do well in her cakes," I said.
It was my sister's most aggravating and endearing quality—she was a tiny genius.
"You're right; dreams are what they are, and I need to wake up and face reality." You already put in a lot of overtime at work. I want you to stop doing it for us. She said,
She sounded just like me a few years ago; I didn't want her to wind up cleaning up after people and putting up with terrible clients all the time.
Katy swiftly brought up another topic. "All right, Ms Saint Clara, tell me when you're going to tell the man the truth." She let out a sigh.
"Tomorrow," was my response.
"I detest you for doing this, you know. But I want to be exactly like you when I grow up." She said, Simply wiser, she continued.
Each of us laughed.
"Katherine, go do your homework," I said to her. She loathed her full name, I knew that.
"Why don't you two assist me in the kitchen?" Mom screamed.
"Coming mom," both Katy and I responded at the same time.
Even if it meant losing everything, I was determined to tell him the truth this time.
