I woke up in my old room with a pounding headache. I groaned as I tried massaging the headache away, but it didn't work. I eventually gave up and decided to see if Angelo was still here.
I hissed in pain, quickly taking weight off my ankle. I went to inspect it, but saw it was wrapped up. I furrowed my eyebrows, surely, Angelo didn't take care of me.
"Ah, the bitch is awake."
I snapped my head up to see my father grinning at me. I clenched my jaw, stopping myself from cussing at him. That triumphant grin on his face sickened me. It made me want to punch it right off his face.
It's sad to think that this man used to be a loving father. Matter of fact, it's almost impossible to think he was ever that. He used to always make sure I was safe, healthy, and happy. He would chase away anyone who hurt me, whether they hurt me physically or emotionally. And now?
Now, he's the one hurting me.
Funny how that all works out, my own father. The man I used to look up to. I felt no love for this man anymore, only hatred. He doesn't have a problem killing me either.
"I see you followed my instructions." He said, taking a seat by my bed.
I didn't say anything as I moved my gaze to the wall.
He sighed, "Don't be angry at me. I understand I did a few horrible things, but Stefano is the true enemy here. He killed your brother."
"He didn't. Angelo did." I whispered.
My father furrowed his eyebrows, "What?"
I sighed, "Angelo ordered the man who was working with Stefano, to crash the car. Stefano tried stopping him, but couldn't. That man caused that car crash that killed your son."
"I know."
"What?"
"I know Angelo ordered that." My father smirked.
My eyes widened, "Then...why are you blaming Stefano?"
"Because I hate him. He killed one if my closest friends. Antonio was like a brother to me. I ordered Angelo to kill Stefano."
"You...you caused Vincent's death?"
My father sighed, "I didn't mean for that to happen. However, it happened. Good thing it did though, your brother was harder to deal with than you are. He wasn't as dumb as you."
I blinked away my tears, "You're a disgusting man! I can't believe I'm your fucking daughter."
He laughed, "That's another thing, you're not my daughter. You're not even my wife's daughter."
I frowned, "Wh-what?"
"Your parents were enemies of mine, so, I took you from them." He grinned.
I stared at him, my whole life was a lie? Anger coursed through my veins, but it didn't cause me to lash out. It kept quiet, fearful.
"I-I...what...wherr are my real parents?" I whispered.
He shrugged, "I don't know. I went back to kill them, but they disappeared."
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I looked away from him. Dario isn't my biological father and neither is his wife, Sylvia. Which means, Vincent isn't my real brother.
I stiffened when Dario gently grabbed my jaw and made me look at him. He had a sadistic grin on his face.
"Which means...." he whispered.
"This won't be incest."
My eyes widened, "You're technically my father by adopting me. Well, kidnapping me, but you acted like my father. Whatever you're about to do is, in fact, incest." I snapped.
He chuckled, "Oh well."
"That's enough, Dario. You won't be raping your adopted daughter."
I looked behind Dario to see Angelo walking in. He quickly shoved the man off of me and glared at him. I noticed an odd look in his eyes.
Betrayal.
He forced Dario to leave before facing me. I watched him carefully.
"What?" He asked.
"What are you planning to do?"
He sighed, "Well, I am going to do something I don't want to do. But that won't happen until Saturday."
I frowned, "What?"
"Dario didn't only betray you and Vincent, he betrayed me too. He has fooled many men, including your biological father."
"You know my parents?"
"Not exactly. But I...I have a lot of shit to clear up. Especially with my little brother."
I ran my hand through my hair, "Please, explain this all to me."
He sighed, "Okay."
Angelo sighed as he stared at the ground, trying to figure out how to explain everything to me.
"Dario and my father were close friends. They were also blinded by greed, which started this whole mess. Dario told my father that if he killed Moretti and married his wife, he would get Moretti's money. Moretti is one of the richest mob bosses in this country. So, when I found out, I threatened to tell my mom. However, my father told me if I tell her then Stefano would be punished."
"At that time, I knew Stefano was my half brother and that my father hated him. So, I didn't tell her, I was afraid he would kill my baby brother this time. Even so, Dario some how convinced my father that once I get stronger, I'll kill him and take all the money. Which wasn't true, I didn't care for my father's money. But Dario had control over my father, it was...weird. I swear, my father had a thing for Dario and wanted Dario to love him."
"Well, during that conversation, Stefano heard it all. Long story short, Stefano killed my father so my father wouldn't kill me."
I nodded, "So...Dario is completely insane?"
"Yes. I know being in the mafia has murder written all over it, but Dario is a whole new level. He's greedy and crazy." He replied.
"What do we do? He's going to kill Stefano."
"I know, which brings me to Saturday."
"What?"
He sighed, "Saturday, Dario and I are going to meet with Stefano. Stefano already has a plan that...includes me stabbing him."
"I'm going to use a small knife, it'll barely get through the muscle. However, he will lose quite a bit of blood, so, I'll have to hurry."
I frowned, "I'm confused."
"Once Stefano is down, Dario will be busy telling his men to clean up the mess and he'll be giving me money. Our friend will kill Dario while he's distracted." He explained.
"And where will I be?"
"With us, how good are you at acting?"
I smirked, "I took acting lessons a few years back."
"Good."
Stefano
I winced as I shoved the boxes out of the way, trying to ignore the stinging pain in my shoulder.
"You're going to rip those stitches open."
I turned to see Hank walking in, a frown on his face.
"Yeah, well, I need to clean this garage up. I want a bigger office." I grumbled.
"You know, when someone tells you to duck, you duck."
I sighed, "I learned my lesson. How is she?"
"Angelo told me that Dario is now lusting for her. He's going to stay by her so Dario can't do anything."
"I want Dario dead."
"And Vincent will take care of that Saturday." He replied.
I finished placing the boxes all in the corner and sighed. My mind has been filled with worry for Vienna. Now that Dario has a thing for her, I'm even more worried. I can't sleep knowing she's in danger.
"You love her."
I stiffened, "What?"
"You love Vienna."
I looked at Hank, warning him to shut up, but he only glared back at me.
"She's like a sister to me, I want her safe too. But you hate it when she's around other men you don't trust. Just this morning you were ranting to Angelo that he better not fall in love with your girl." He smirked.
I clenched my jaw, "I was half asleep."
"Come on, why can't you just admit it, Stefano?"
"Because every time I love someone, I lose them!" I snapped.
He frowned, "She won't leave you."
"How do you know that? I'm a mental case, Hank. I'm not good for her."
"And you think she cares? She told me to tell you she loves you!"
I frowned, "What?"
"She left to keep you safe and told me to tell you she loves you." He stated.
I looked down, "She only thinks she does."
He sighed, "I don't understand why you think you shouldn't be loved. For a whole year, your real father has apologized to you and tried making it up to you. Yet, you think he only feels bad. Maybe he does, but maybe he just also wants to know his son. He's getting older and some day, he won't be here."
"And you think I don't know that?" I snapped.
"I know you know that, but you hate yourself so much that you won't let anyone love you."
He got up and patted me on the shoulder, "Let them in at least, dying won't make you happy or give you peace. Letting Vienna love you and trying to know your real father, will."
With that, he walked out and closed the door. Leaving me in the dark room, knowing he's right.
I hate myself, so, everyone else should too.
