Chapter 14
"No, please go back to your office," I replied and continued to walk. I had no idea what he was trying to do. This was so unlike him and I was not going to fall for his stupid charms again. I would have jumped with joy if he had asked me out before six months but now it just pissed me off.
"I don't think you will have that job you seem to love so much, if you lose a client," he shouted, making me freeze. I turned around and walked towards him, anger flaring up my face.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked in disbelief.
"Technically I'm your client and you slapped me, sweetheart. I wonder what Mr.Henderson will say about that." He replied casually as a smirk tugged on the corner of his lips. I wanted to slap that arrogant cocky smirk off his beautiful face.
"I'm not going to have lunch with you and you can tell anyone I slapped you. I don't give a fuck, you deserved it, asshole" I yelled at him, pushing away the hair from my face angrily. He took a step closer towards me and I took a step back. We were currently in the middle of the pavement and people were giving us weird stares as they walked past us.
"Now, what did I say about that tone, Emma?" he pushed the hair that was flying across my face because of the wind.
"Don't touch me," I jerked away from his touch.
"Get in my car," he demanded as his eyes bore into mine.
"Fuck you, I'm not getting in your stupid car and going anywhere with you." I spat, making few people around us cringe at my tone. Ugh...I hated how angry he made me.
"Jesus alright, just half an hour. Think of it as a business lunch and we could discuss about the lawsuit." He tried to convince me with a hopeful look in his eyes and I bit my lips, thinking about it. His eyes were fixed on my lips as he ran his hands through his chiseled jaw. I noticed the veins in his neck popping out as he looked at me, expecting for an answer.
"I want something in return," I blurted, already regretting my decision but this was the perfect opportunity to get Liam's reservation.
"Anything, just get in the car and we can talk," he flashed his million-dollar smile, making me melt. I let out a huge sigh and followed him to his car. He sat down next to me in the passenger seat.
"Who is driving?" I asked with a puzzled look on my face.
"The driver," he chuckled at my obvious dumb question.
"Oh," I hid my face behind my hair in embarrassment. Of course, he has a driver to drive him around. Stupid rich asshole. He placed his hands on my bare thigh, tracing small circles with his fingers. I squeezed my thighs with a jerk and slapped his hand away, making him laugh at my reaction.
"I can see your nipples poking through your blouse. I wonder why, Ms.Lewis." he whispered against my shoulders and I folded my arms in front of me.
"Shut up before I kill you," I whispered back and scooted away from him, sitting closer to the door.
"You are cute," he said with a small smile, playing around the corner of his lips.
That was the first time he had called me cute.
"Let's see if you still find me cute when I kick your ass," I muttered under my breath, ignoring the butterflies bouncing in my stomach. We passed by a small restaurant where I used to eat regularly and asked the driver to stop.
"Here?" He asked in disbelief, making me roll my eyes.
"You are free to leave, rich boy." I replied, getting out of his car and he followed me.
"The deal was I take you out to lunch and I had some other place in mind,Emma." he hissed behind me.
"You want to do this or not?"
"Fine," he muttered, running his hands through his hair. I looked around and found a seat at the corner of the window. I walked towards it and turned to see if he was following me behind, only to find him checking out my ass. I couldn't help but smile, thinking about the times he used to spank my ass. Dirty, Emma.
"Stop being a pervert," I said as we both sat down opposite to each other. He smirked, licking his lips as his gaze fell to my breasts and back to my eyes. He placed his hands on the table and looked so uncomfortable that I almost felt bad for him. The waiter reached our table to get the orders.
"I'll have a Caesar's salad and you?"
"Uh...just water is fine." He gave the waiter a small smile and turned his attention to me. The waiter nodded and walked away.
"Aren't you hungry?" I asked with a confused look on my face.
"I'm not hungry for food," he gave me a small smile and a blush threatened to appear on my face. No, control your shit.
"So what is it that you want in return?" he asked, letting out a huge sigh.
"Well, I need a reservation at your hotel, Bello Italiano for this Saturday," I said in a low voice, feeling embarrassed to ask him for a favor. Only for you, Liam. He chuckled at my request and rested his chin on his hands.
"I could have all the tables booked under your name, sweetheart." He whispered, making me suck in a shaky breath. He looked so beautiful, with his hair disheveled and my fingers itched to run through it.
"Ummm..just one is enough," I blinked and looked outside the window before he could catch me checking him out.
"Are you having a date with someone?" he asked in an irritable tone which made me smirk.
"I don't owe you an explanation," I raised my eyebrows, making him sulk. "You can't back out now. You agreed, Mr. Willams" I grinned in satisfaction, making him groan. He kept staring at me and I held his gaze, trying to figure him out.
"What do you want, Austin?" I asked him directly in a soft voice, tucking my hair behind my ears.
"I want you, Emma." He stated, taking me by surprise.
"Last time, it was 'I need you for sex' and this time 'I want you for what? Sex and lunch dates?'. You are unbelievable and so confusing," I rushed out and he blinked, trying to process my words. I kept playing with my bracelet on my hands as he remained silent and looked up to see his gaze fixed on the window. He seemed to be lost in his thoughts. The waiter brought my food and I started eating, to keep myself distracted.
"Tell me about the lawsuit, any progress?" he changed the subject completely and I looked at him in disbelief. Was he being serious? I wanted to hit him so badly but reminded myself that I was not a violent person.
"Seriously? You want to talk about the case?" I asked him, anger evident in my voice.
"Business lunch remember?" he gave me a tight smile. That shut me up. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"Alright, let's talk about the case." I cleared my throat and said with a straight face. He behaved perfectly formal with me throughout the lunch and it pissed me off. How can he switch himself like that?Moments ago he was staring at my ass.
Fucking prick.
We discussed the lawsuit for a while and he listened to me intently. I wanted to leave as soon as possible before I could lose my shit and stood up, quickly placing the money on the table to end this lunch which was turning into a nightmare.
"I should get going, Mr.Williams," I stated and he copied my actions.
"Let me drop you," he offered and I shook my head.
"I can find my ride," I said in a bitter tone and he seemed to catch it. We both walked outside the restaurant and he turned to face me.
"Goodbye," I extended my hand for him to shake and he shook my hand, longer than usual, his gaze never leaving mine. For some reason, I had a feeling that this would be our last meeting and swallowed back the lump in my throat.
"I'll ask my assistant to mail you the reservation details, Goodbye,Emma." he spoke in a heavy tone and walked away, towards his car without a second glance. I felt that familiar ache in my chest as I watched him walk away and wiped the tear that slipped through the corner of my eyes.
I guess the heart does want what it wants.
