Chapter 62

Avery's POV.

"Hey baby...time to wake up." Xander's voice whispered into my ear.

"I wanna sleep..I'm exhausted." I murmured in a sleepy voice and Xander chuckled.

He hadn't allowed me a good night's rest and now he wants me to wake up.

Nope...it's not happening.

I heard him drop out of bed but I ignored him and tried to sleep.

"Here baby, take this." I heard him say a few minutes later and I opened my eyes with a yawn.

"What's that?" I asked with a wry voice.

"The energy potion Leilani gave you, you can take it now."

"Ohhhhwww, OK."

Leilani must have packed it, thanks to her..i wouldn't spend half of my day sleeping in bed.

Xander went wild on me last night, I tried my very best not to moan but it was fruitless.

I had to stuff clothes in my mouth to prevent it.

I took the potion and I felt good for a few minutes.

"Xander...we need to talk." I announced and he came to sit beside me.

"Don't you think you should rest...you're exhausted." He advised and I was tempted to yield to his suggestion but I shook it off.

This is the best and right time to talk, it's still very early in the morning and on an attentive note.. I found out that Shannon and Erik are still asleep.

It's odd how I don't hear Leilani's heartbeat.

She's probably out of the house.

My room is on the top floor and if it's a normal wolf, it would be extremely difficult to hear their steady heartbeat but my supernatural powers have enhanced my hearing and it gives me the privilege to hear and feel the presence of anyone from far places.

"I'm fine baby but we really need to talk." I insisted and he shrugged and nodded at me a go ahead.

"Uhmmm,I want you to stop getting jealous over the things I do with Erik...I've told you there's nothing between us and Leilani has already given me a solution to whatever you're feeling might happen." I explained and he grunted.

I've told him about the leaf Leilani gave me to sedate Erik if he ever attempts to get intimate with me but the stubborn mate of mine is forever jealous.

"I'm trying baby, I'm trying...it's just that I can't stand the thought of him getting close to you...it inflamed me." He said with clenched teeths.

"And whenever I perceive his scent on you, I just have the urge to strangle him." He added.

I've felt like strangling him many times but I had to control my temper and think of the welfare of my pack to calm down.

"I know dear but we don't have much time...though the elders give me till next full moon to choose a mate.....I don't think that would be possible any more." I said with worry.

"What did you mean?"

"You're aware of everything that happened last week and the issues we have with a rivalry pack. The pack that would think twice before speaking about our pack dares to threaten to attack us and it's all because of the absence of an alpha in our pack." l explained.

The pack that caused trouble for almost two weeks for my pack is a little pack compared to mine but due to the absence of an alpha, they dared to talk of attacking us.

Though the issue was solved amicably with an apology from the other pack...I know there is going to be tension among my pack members.

"But you handled everything amicably." He said softly.

"I know but the threat from the rival pack has sent the wrong message to other prominent packs surrounding us..they might come for us." I explained further.

My pack is blessed by the moon goddess in excess and this makes my pack one of the powerful packs to exist in the North and it also made it a target to many greedy packs that wish to acquire it.

"Hmmmm....what's your plan?" He asked in a defeated tone.

"I'm doing this for us baby, many of the pack members wish him to be my alpha...it leaves me in awe because Erik is a no good person. I don't know why most of them support him, especially the elders." I voiced out.

The way my pack members are pinning for Erik as their next alpha surprised me.

"Don't forget that his mother is a scarlet witch...she might have cast some spell or something." He said with an unamused face.

As he mentioned the spell part...my heart breaks for my subjects... I have to set things right and I'll have to set it right before the pack elders pressure me more about the whole mating thing.

"First...I need to tell you about what I found out a week ago."

"What's it?"

"Shannon and Erik are indeed dating and...."

"That's not a new thing..I told you." He interrupted me.

"Yeah...also I found out that they want Erik to get close to me so he'll become my alpha."

"And what's in for Shannon?" He asked almost immediately.

"They would take me out of the way and Shannon would become the Luna." I replied with a bitter smile and he gasped.

"Fuck!!! That's cruelty." He said with a surprise look evident on his face.

"I know right..... I had suspected everything before but when I overheard them....it caused me immense pain that I fought hard to control my anger."

True to my words... I was angered when I found out about their dirty plan.

I found out the reason for my death in my previous life and it stung so bad that I wanted to scream.

Leilani had been down with a fever during the night and after several tries to get the doctor.. It was unsuccessful which was odd.

Shannon is a doctor in training and I had gone to look for her but as luck would have it I heard a voice in his room while I was still a bit far away.

I instantly recognize the voice as that of Erik and I immediately harden my hearing sense and concentrate hard on their conversation.

"It's unbelievable how she'd come close to me, baby." Erik said and gave a low laugh.

"I'm finally glad all our efforts didn't go in vain...be quick and get her soon... I'm tired of her daily tantrums and her amazon acts in front of the whole pack. She's gradually winning everyone over...you need to act fast so we'll be together." Shannon said and I closed my mouth to prevent the gasp from coming out.

Though they might not likely hear me, I still want to be precautious.

"She's acting all strong but I know she'll come to me and here she is...she's getting all smoochy with me and I can't wait to have her and punish her for her silly behavior." He said and I scoffed.

He's such a silly ass hole.

We shall see who deals with who.

"Just get her soon and half of our worries would be over... Ending her should be your mom's job, she's specialized in such things. I don't want to get involved in such dirt." Shannon added and I felt my eyes filled with tears.

Despite everything I've been to her, she talks about ending my life in such a way.

She's saying it as if it's nothing, as if my life means nothing to her.

"Yeah...she'd done that before." Erik said and his words alarmed me.

What has she done before?

What is he talking about?

I listened to get more information but they were back to their dirty work.

I left there and sped to my room and cried so hard that I thought I'd run out of tears.

I've always loved Shannon and yet... She...

Dermn! She's cruel.

"Baby??" Xander called, interrupting my thoughts.

"Why are you crying?" He asked worriedly and reached out for me and wiping the tears I didn't know I had.

"What!?" I reached for my face and felt the tears on my face.

"It's okay baby, I know how you feel." He said and drew me in for a hug.

I cried the most and he held me till I calmed down.

"Why does she hate me? I've never done anything to her that would warrant this type of cruelty...I've loved her Xander, I've only loved her." I whimpered in his arms.

"You don't have to do anything wrong for someone to hate you...some people are just like that...insatiable, greedy and jealous. You can never satisfy those kinds of people so calm down baby..you did nothing wrong." He said gently and I smiled as I withdrew from his hug.

"Thank you bae." I said, sniffling in my tears and running my nose.

I'm usually pathetic whenever I cry....puffy eyes are regular visitors whenever I cry too much.

"For what?" He asked, kissing my forehead.

"For everything..for being there for me...for being my mate, for being my friend and for being my support."

"You're crazy darling...that's my job." He said with a smile and I blushed hard.

His smiles do something to me that I can't explain.

"I found something else but I don't understand it...it's complicated." I told him.

"What's it?"

"Shannon talked about Erik's mother killing someone but I don't know though I want to find out soon... I need your support baby...please, there's no time."

"You'll always have my support baby girl...just keep me updated about the whole thing...also we start your training immediately we get home, is that ok by you?" He asked.

"Aye aye captain." I replied and he drew me for a hug again.

I earnestly pray that everything goes well, I'm so scared out of my wits about the whole shits.
