Chapter 87

Avery's POV.

‘Do you want to wallow in your own confusion girl? It's past nine already and we're still soaked in the bathtub, seriously we should be getting ready. Leilani isn't here to help you out, you know?’ Kira's voice gave a growl in my head and I let out a sad chuckle.

"Chill out, will you? I need to calm down and relax my nerves. You should know that I reek of Xander's scent and if I don't soak my body for this long, it would be impossible to get his scent off me." I explained to my angry wolf who was clearly annoyed because I'm taking too long in the bath.

Immediately I sped to my room naked, I went straight to the bathroom and got myself soaked in the bathtub with Leilani's beautiful potions and they are doing wonders with my emotions. I'm not so negative about everything now which is a good thing.

'You know, no one would fall dead if you attended the meeting early today.' My wolf said and I rolled my eyes, she'd always been the follow the rules type of girl.

"It won't hurt anyone if we go a bit late. Give me a break girl, I'm about to make a decision that will determine the future of this pack, I'll definitely take my time." I defended my actions and she sighs.

Oh yeah, I know I'm an annoying bitch and if I'm not careful, she'll not talk to me for days unless she deems it necessary or important.

‘Grow up lady, get up this instant!’ She growled but I wasn't going to listen to her, I need my bath and no one is going to force me out of this bathtub and mean it! Not even you Ki....

"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked as my bones began to crack.

‘Coming out!’ She said angrily.

Slowly I began to shift but I tried to keep it in"stop this madness,Kira..I'm not finding it funny!" I struggled breathlessly as we both fought for dominance.

Kira's body was already out, transforming my lower body and my hands were almost all hairy with my claws sprouting out.

She won.

"Alright, you won, now stop it so I'll clean myself up." I raised my watery hairy hands in defeat.

‘If you go back on your words, I'm not going to talk to you for weeks and I mean it, no amount of emotional blackmail would work on me this time.’ She growled in my head and I nodded.

"Of course, Luna Kira. I mean my words and I'll keep to it." I said with a chuckle.

She scoffed at me and stopped shifting. Drying myself, I stepped out of the bathtub with so much reluctance ready to face what reality for what it was.

‘You should know that staying in the bathtub all day won't solve the issue at hand Avery, everything would be alright. I'm with you, remember that.’ With that, she went quiet.

I'm not enjoying the bubble bath so bad that I don't wish to get up from it, I'm just afraid of everything. I know that I'll make a major decision today and that would definitely affect everything I represent negatively or positively.

Taking a deep breath, I went out of the bathroom to select a beautiful piece of gown on KIra's wish.

Left for me, I'll have to wear a simple plain black gown, my mood is in turmoil of darkness and my mood should be reflected in my clothing but Kira had a better idea and we'll follow that today.

‘Why don't you just imagine what you wish to wear, it's one of your powers, you used to do that right?’ Kira's voice interrupted me as I searched frantically for something good to wear in my wardrobe filled up with gowns. Whenever I see something I like, I find something much better than that one.

That's my problem when it comes to dressing or selecting beautiful things at the same time.

"That only works if I can imagine what the person or I is wearing...besides right now, I'm in no mood to imagine things."I muttered while still searching for what to wear.

‘Dude, you'll spend hours here today if we're to follow your ways. Just shut your eyes and do eenie winnie minniee mou and go for what you choose okay?’ She said with frustration and I have to agree with her, picking something with my eyes open won't work.

"Okay, here we go." I shut my eyes and tap at random and my choice wasn't so bad.

My hand landed on a peach coloured gown with long hands, artificial flowers decorations along the neckline and around the waistline. It has tiny shiny sea pearls attached to its body and round the hems are little curls of pearls and little flowers sewed together.

‘Purrrrfect... Now let's get dressed up.’ Kira purred in my head and I laughed hard for the first time since yesterday.

As I stepped out of my room, I did a little breathing exercise before I began to climb down.

"Good morning Luna." Two guards said in unison with bowed heads.

"Good morning, have everyone gathered?" I asked, peering at their faces which were bowed down.

"Yes, my Luna. All awaits you." One of them answered.

"Thank you, let's get moving."

I walked away with one tagging behind me and the other in front of me.

‘Whatever you do out there, do not faint!’ Kira shouted in my head and it took every control muscle in me not to laugh.

‘Stop being a comedian now, Kira. I need to stay focused, just imagine what everyone would think of me if they see me laughing in such a tense atmosphere.’ I chidded her but she only giggled.

‘Everyone has a wolf, you're just having a chit chat with yours. Nothing to feel ashamed of.’ She replied not feeling any hint of remorse.

I sighed a lot as I entered the pack house court, I was already filled with all the pack elders and I could see Erik occupying the beta seat, it looks like he's finally trying to be responsible.

Immediately everyone noticed my present, they stood up to acknowledge me, I saw Shannon too, her eyes on me and giving me this shrewd smile I could not decipher.

‘Let's do this girl!’ Kira encouraged me and a glint of a smile appeared on my face.

My heels made sounds as I made my way to the seat designated for me, on reaching Shannon's side, I gave her a shrewd smile.

"Long time no see, sister...how are you doing?" I asked and I could tell my question surprised her.

"Uhmmm, I'm...I'm good. Thanks." She stuttered looking at me.

I'm sure she wasn't expecting me to even talk to her, well..I'm full of surprises.

I went higher and took my seat, flashing a sweet smile at Erik who looked shocked too.

Why are the two mates looking shocked?

I'm loving this already, were they expecting a frozen stick Avery?

Ouch, sorry to disappoint them but I'm stronger than they think.

A quick exchange of pleasantries, we discussed the reason for our gathering and few opinions were brought forward.

A few useful suggestions were made and I looked and listened quietly as they all talked, once we finished our discussion. I nodded to all their suggestions.

"Xavier, bring Olivia and Xander, please." I requested and he bowed and left.

Erik mind linked me, ‘How was your discussion last night?’ He asked in a mocking voice.

‘It was beautiful, thanks.’ I gave a short reply and blocked the mind link before he could ask any other question.

The door opened and they walked in, my heart started beating fast when I saw Xander, he was looking disheveled and tired, his eyes were looking weak and they never looked me in the eye.

As for Olivia, she looks well and relaxed. She must have had a beautiful sleep.

Curse the trouble!

They were asked to repeat everything that happened and they both narrated their own sides of the story.

I stood up when they both finished their narration to the surprise of everyone.

I walked towards the two and smiled.

"Xander, are you sure about everything you just said before everyone because if I find out that you're lying by any chances, you'll be married to Olivia and I'll personally strip you of your titles." I asked.

"If I'm proven otherwise, then you can do as you please, my Luna." He replied, his head still bowed.

"Olivia, I want sincere answers only...whatever I'm going to ask you, I need you to think thoroughly before answering because your words would become your words, you won't change it. Is that clear?" I asked standing at her front and she nodded.

"I need you to talk Olivia, use your mouth."

"Yes, my Luna." She answered immediately.

"Good."

"How many times did you and Xander have an intercourse?"

There were a few gasps from some people but at this point, I don't care what anyone thinks of me.

Such a question should not surprise anyone, we're dealing with something of that nature anyway.

Olivia looked at me with her mouth open.

"Answer me Olivia, we don't have time to waste. We need to discuss and bring solutions to this problem as soon as possible.

"So how many times did you two have intercourse?"I asked again.

I didn't even use the word 'fuck'...why is everyone acting so innocent any way?

"Just once, my Luna." She replied.

"Good. And it was the night that he was drunk right?"

She hesitated in answering.

"Be fast Olivia."

"Yes, Luna."

"And everything happened at your house?"

"Yes, Luna."

"Are you sure?" I asked again.

"Very sure Luna."

"Were you alone?"

"I was. My uncle wasn't home that night and the guards were absent too."

"You mean there was no one home, how's that even possible?"

"There were people at home, like the servants but they were all in their quarters." She explained and I nodded.

"Where did you two make out?"

I got another reaction but I was beyond caring.

"In the sitting room."

"Were the lights on or off?"

"Luna Avery, I see no relevance to your questions in this case." Erik stood up, interrupting me.

I turned around and gave him a deadly look.

"Please take your seat, you'll see where I'm heading to soon and I don't want any interruption again!" I growled at him in my Luna voice and he immediately took his seat.

I love that voice.

"Answer me Olivia."

"Uhmmm, the light was dimly lit." She answered.

"Okay, that's good enough."

"How many months old is your pregnancy?"

"Less than two months."

"General, there is CCTV in your house right?" I asked and I heard loud gasps.

"Yes, Luna Avery." He answered.

"Good...I need footage of the last seven to eight weeks." I said aloud, looking at Olivia's face.

There was fear in her eyes.
