Xu Lan quickly grabbed hold of Qiao Mei and said, “Zhuang Hua and Zheng Yuan are in the study. They’re here to look for you. Go up, I’ll tidy up these things for you.”
Qiao Mei hurriedly ran upstairs and pushed the door open. She did not feel awkward at all when she entered and saw Zhuang Hua and Zheng Yuan. Instead, she felt a sense of closeness to both of them.
“Why are the two of you here! Are you here to give us an invite! You can’t leave us out of the guest list for your wedding banquet! Without the two of us, who knows when the two of you will be able to get married!” Qiao Mei said happily.
...“You mean I have to thank you!” Zhuang Hua said in surprise.
Qiao Mei looked at Zhuang Hua smugly and said, “Of course. Without me, would the two of you have progressed so quickly? Zheng Yuan might not want to thank me, but you have to thank me!”
“See, I told you she’s very spirited. She always says all kinds of strange things. Don’t take it to heart,” Xia Zhe said with a doting smile.
Zheng Yuan’s originally tense nerves finally relaxed. She had long let go of that matter herself but she did not expect Qiao Mei to be such a magnanimous person.
Before Zhuang Hua even started speaking, Qiao Mei already knew what they were going to say. She had been thinking about this while she was out today, but she had not been able to contact Qian’e and did not know what was going on over there.
“The two of you can stay here for a while and have some fun. Don’t think too much,” Qiao Mei said calmly.
“Then what about my brother? He can’t hold on for that long! If he doesn’t eat or drink for three days, he’ll die!” Zheng Yuan said worriedly.
“Your father is still counting on your elder brother to carry on the family line. How can he die? If your father really doesn’t care about him, then it won’t matter who he’s dating. Is there still a need to be so concerned? As long as your father still wants descendants for the Zheng family, he won’t let your brother die,” Qiao Mei said in a relaxed manner.
As soon as she said that, everyone came to a realization. Xia Zhe also looked at Qiao Mei with admiration. He had always known that Qiao Mei was full of ideas, but he did not expect her to think of a countermeasure so quickly. It turned out that when she looked like a weak little girl in front of him, it was all just an act.

Chu Ju was also smart enough to only look at girls from the countryside and not those from the capital. The matter which happened back then had caused such an uproar and she was too embarrassed to look for girls of marriageable age in the capital.

“They’re all the same. Can’t we just find someone who’s able to give birth?” Ma Meng said resignedly.
