1408 Stay Here Tonight



"Uncle Shao, why will I joke with you? Let's use these to drink!" Xia Wen said firmly.

They were in a different situation from Xia Wen. Xia Wen had the "divine medicine", but they did not. If they really drank liquor using bowls, they would probably end up at the hospital to get their stomachs pumped.

"In that case, your wish is my command. Brother Xia, please accept a toast from me!" Shao Xian did not forget the most important thing they needed to do today. He raised the liquor glass which they had prepared in advance and handed it to Xia Wen.

Xia Wen had only used the bowls to scare Shao Tu. Since the Shao family wanted him to fall into their trap, he might as well beat them at their own game. Xia Wen took it and smelled it discreetly before drinking everything in one go. Shao Xian was relieved to see Xia Wen downing the entire glass.

While the men were drinking enthusiastically, Qiao Mei and Xia He did not stay idle. They chatted with the women from the Shao family and tried to get more information from them. However, Bian Duo was very guarded and they could not get her to reveal anything no matter how hard they tried.

"Have a chat first. I'll go get you some seeds and popcorn, as well as fruits that we grow ourselves!" Qiao Mei said warmly.

"No need! There's no need to go through so much trouble! We can just drink water!" Bian Duo said quickly.

"Auntie, we make all those ourselves. They're all very clean! They definitely taste different from the ones you buy outside! You can eat without any worries! I'll be back soon!" Qiao Mei quickly ran to the kitchen to slice up all kinds of fruits. She even prepared two plates of smashed cucumber salad and shelled peanuts for Xia Wen and the other men to eat while they drank.

Since Qiao Mei had said that, it was not good for the Shao family members to reject her. Bian Duo and the others kept a close eye on the movements at Shao Tu's end, worried that the men would forget about what they were supposed to do after drinking too much. They did not think any of the women would be able to carry Xia Wen to the backyard. Fortunately, Shao Zhuang was also sitting at that table, so there should not be too much of a problem.

"We should also drink some. I've long heard that all of you are very good drinkers. Let's have a good drinking session today!" Xia He said with a smile.

"No, no, no. I'm old and useless! Our current capacity for alcohol is incomparable to when we were young. My health is not good and I can't drink anymore," Bian Duo said as she repeatedly declined. Her current behavior was totally different from how she behaved earlier in the morning.

There must be one or two sober people among the Shao family members who came today. Otherwise, who would go and catch the couple in the act later?
