Rather than saying that Xia Zhe had asked for permission to marry her, it would be more accurate to say that she had forced Xia Zhe to marry her.

Tan Jing did not miss out on such an important piece of news. When she married Xia Wen in those days, they did not even hold a wedding banquet. All they did was to have dinner with both sets of parents.
Why was there such a huge difference in treatment between her and MO Zhu! How was she inferior to Nio Zhu! In the past 10 years or so in the Xia family, she had to deal with their disdain for her and even had to endure outsiders gossiping about her. “What are you standing there for? Go and cook for my mom!” Huang Quan said as he came down the stairs.
“Don’t we have a helper at home? Why do you need me to do it?” Tan Jing said unhappily.
“Just do as I say! Why do you have so much nonsense! Do you even know your place! Just go!” Huang Quan shouted impatiently.
Tan Jing went silently to the kitchen to cook. This was her life in this house. Outside, she was the glamorous Mrs. Huang, but when she returned home, she was the Huang family’s helper. Even though she was pregnant, she still had to do the housework.
The Huang family did not care about Tan Jings health at all. In fact, they thought that it would be a good thing if she had a miscarriage out of exhaustion, since it would save them the trouble of coming up with a scheme.
The days passed quickly. It was soon the day of Xia Wen and MO Zhu’s wedding banquet. Xia Wen and MO Zhu wore the wedding clothes which Qiao Mei had embroidered for them. The two of them stood at the door to welcome the guests and they looked like the perfect match. All the guests were full of praise for MO Zhu.
The courtyard was bustling with activity and the Xia family members were all busy entertaining the guests. Just as almost all the guests had arrived, a small sedan car suddenly stopped at the main door. Xia Wen could basically recognize all the cars which belonged to the government. He had never seen this car before and did not know who was inside.
Just as Xia Wen was hesitating about whether he should go forward, someone got out of the car. It was Tan Jing. He widened his eyes and stared at her. Just as he was about to move forward and chase her away, MO Zhu hurriedly pulled him back and whispered, “Anyone who comes today is a guest. We have to receive them regardless of whether they are humans or beasts. Stay calm.”
Tan Jing slowly walked to the door bearing a congratulatory gift and said,
“Since it’s your wedding, I must definitely come and celebrate with you.”
“Mrs. Huang, you should have told us in advance that you’re coming. I don’t remember us sending an invitation to Mrs. Huang. It’s really our negligence that Mrs. Huang has to invite herself here today. Come in quickly,” MO Zhu said loudly as she looked at Tan Jing.
When the guests in the courtyard heard that, they all looked towards the door. MO Zhu seemed to be purposely telling everyone that Tan Jing had come uninvited and was on the list of guests. She was implying that Tan Jing was shameless!
When Xia He saw Tan Jing, she rolled up her sleeves and was about to go to the door to chase her away. Qiao Mei quickly grabbed Xia He and said, “It’s Eldest Brother’s big day.. Don’t cause trouble!”
