Chapter 68

The Ezio clones charged at commander Diavinx. They had weapons of different types and these included pitchforks, knives, sticks and stones. All of them were contaminated by oxmaynatrifin. Diavinx defended himself with a stick he picked off the ground. Every clone he hit into dust that was itchy upon contact.

This boy is so cunning to send me to a time when I was weak. Diavinx thought to himself as he ran out of the market desparetly trying to escape.

Diavinx took cover under a table. He listened closely to all the sounds around him. In his hand was a pitchfork. He ditched the stick as he fought off the clones. Diavinx held his breath when he heard footsteps approaching him. He gritted his teeth and held the pitchfork tighter. Sweat ran down his face as he listened to the steps drawing closer and closer. With a blink of an eye, the table was sent flying out of the market stand.

Diavinx stabbed the clone with his pitchfork and it burst into the itchy dust. More of the clones came tearing through the stand. They pounced on Diavinx and roughly pinned him down. Diavinx struggled to get up but the twelve hands holding him down didn't give him the chance. One stood above him with a spear in its hand. It had an infuriating smug look on its face. It pointed the spear at Diavinx's heart and he glared at it.

Sana, Sanuika and Maradina were deep in the battlefield. They joined in when the lizard monsters appeared. Sana saw Leonardo, letter 'J' of the Day Walkers. He was controlling rocks and using them to fend off a kremis. When the kremis was dead, Sana threw her daggas at Leonardo. Leonardo used a boulder to block the daggas.

"Judging by your tattoo, I can see you are a Day Walker." Sana blankly said to him.

"You betcha." Leonardo confidently replied. "Judging by your appearance, I can see that you are a helpless little girl."

Sana revealed her hand that was filled with daggas. "Looks can be deceiving, vampire."

Sana threw her daggas at Leonardo once more and he was able to dodge them all by causing rocks to shield him. Sana threw herself at him and the two engaged in a fist fight. Sana was able to punch Leonardo in his stomach and he got down on his knees. Leonardo smacked the ground and it shot out and hit Sana under her chin. Sana back flipped in the air and threw daggas at Leonardo and he took cover behind a rock.

Sanuika got concerned when she was unable to see Sana in the battlefield. She spotted her fighting Leonardo. When she saw that Sana had everything under control, she turned away. Her twin instincts, however kicked in and she turned back only to see Fahran, letter 'I', heading towards Sana. Sanuika immediately dashed out. Maradina attempted to follow her but a lizard monster charged at her from her right and a kremis from her left.

"Are you going to hide behind that rock forever?" Sana threw her dagga so hard that it cut the rock in two and stabbed Leonardo in the shoulder.

Leonardo groaned in pain. "You're annoying for a helpless little girl."

He was about to say something else to Sana when he sensed Sanuika fast approaching him from behind. Leonardo knew that he wasn't going to be able to take them both at once so he pretended to be in pain and he got down on his knees. Sana placed her hand on her hip and silently watched him.

When Sanuika was close enough, he put his hands on the ground and Sanuika found herself in quick sand. When only her head was out, Leonardo twisted his fingers and the ground became solid. All this happened under a minute. Sana was furious at the condition her sister was in. She was about to throw her daggas at Leonardo when he said,

"I wouldn't do that if I were you. Take a closer look at your beloved sister."

Sana's heart dropped when she took a closer look at Sanuika. Sanuika was gasping for air. Her once rosy cheeks were covered in veins that were glowing green. The ground was contaminated with oxmaynatrifin.

"You son of bitch." Sana formed more daggas in her other hand.

Sana threw the daggas at Leonardo and kicked him under his chin. She picked him up and body slammed him to the ground. Sana formed one dagga and forced it down. She was just about to stab Leonardo in his heart when she felt a sudden hot sensation on her chest.

Sana's vision was getting blurry. She saw Sanuika helplessly looking at her with tears in her eyes. Sana weakly dropped her gaze and saw a fiery hand protruding through her chest. Blood splashed out of Sana's mouth and she fell to the ground on her stomach. Her lifeless eyes remained opened. Tears trickled down and dripped on the dry ground. Sanuika let out a sharp scream.

Standing next to Sana's body with his hand on fire was Fahran. His hazel eyes looked deep into Sanuika's eyes and they showed no remorse. Leonardo scowled at Fahran and kicked a rock angrily. Fahran just rolled his eyes at him.

"You fucking didn't have to interfere. I had everything under control." Leonardo spat.

"You're welcome." Fahran replied blankly. He was clearly unfazed by Leonardo's ungrateful attitude.

"She is gone. My Sana is gone. You have taken her away from me." Sanuika whispered to herself.

"What is she blubbering about?" Leonardo said in disgust.

Fahran got tensed. He felt the dark aura around Sanuika. "Kill her right now."

Leonardo snickered annoyingly. "And miss out on torturing her while she looks at her dead sister? Fuck no."

"You killed her. You killed her. You killed her. You killed her." Sanuika creepily chanted underneath her breath.

Fahran felt even more tensed. He took two steps back. "I am not playing with you. Kill her now!"

"The hell is she going to do? She can barely mo---"

"YOU FUCKING KILLED HER!!!!!!!!!!" Sanuika screamed and there was a blast.

The blast knocked Leonardo and Fahran off their feet. Dust and rubble choked them and they coughed. When the dust finally settled, their irritated eyes set on Sanuika lovingly holding Sana in her arms. She dropped Sana's eyelids and cried deeply.

"You look so pretty when you are sleeping Sana. Mama used to say that we look prettier when we are asleep. I too, will look as pretty as you soon."

With those words, Sanuika planted a kiss on Sana's forehead. The both of them started to glow red. Fahran and Leonardo watched in shock as the glow got brighter and brighter. They shielded their eyes from the blinding light.

"What is she doing?" Leonardo screamed.

The glow went dim suddenly. Sana's body stopped glowing. Only Sanuika was glowing red. She had a scowl on her face and her eyes were completely red. She let go of Sana and stood up to face Leonardo and Fahran. Both vampires got back to their feet and took their stances.

"I'm sure you are wondering what has just happened." Sanuika spoke to them in a raspy masculine voice. "I have absorbed all my sisters gamarax and taken her daggas. This technique is a taboo for it is forbidden to absorb a fellow darkas god. It is known as the Cannibal Technique." Sanuika ended with a growl.

"You two bastards won't get in the way of what I want." Sanuika continued.

"Oh yeah, and what's that?" Fahran asked Sanuika.

"TO LOOK AS PRETTY AS MY SANA!!!" Sanuika thundered.

Millions of daggas shot out of all the parts of her body. Leonardo and Fahran were killed instantly. The daggas went as far as hitting those in the nearby battlefield and far. Some of them missed Queen Sharaina.

"Who has just used the cannibal technique!" Queen Sharaina felt stressed.

The daggas were still shooting out of Sanuika's body when she shut her eyes and felt herself drop to the ground. She turned her head and took one last look at Sana. Sanuika weakly reached out for Sana's hand and held it gently.

"Finally, I am going to sleep forever just like you. Together, we will look pretty." Sanuika said in her natural soft voice.

With a smile, she closed her eyes forever.

The daggas stopped and the twins lay dead on the ground. In total, Sanuika killed 50 000 beings. Maradina took a look at the daggas that took out her opponents. Her world blackened when she recognized them.

Did they use the forbidden technique? She panicked

Maradina ran in the direction she saw Sanuika go to. As she ran, the daggas started to disappear one by one. Without Sanuika, there was nothing powering their existence.

Maradina kept wiping her tears as she ran. She completely refused to accept the possibility that Sana and Sanuika were dead. She couldn't sense them at all but this didn't stop her from rejecting the reality.

"Maradina," Lanitrexis spoke to her. "You must accept what has happened."

"Be silent, Lanitrexis. They are still alive. I know they are." Maradina harshly said to her dragon.

"If this is so, why are you unable to sense them?" Lanitrexis asked Maradina.

"Shut up! How I'm I going to find them with you breathing down my neck?"

"As you wish, mistress."

Maradina stopped in her tracks when she finally found the bodies of her beloved friends. She went to them and got down on her knees. She shook them in a hopeless attempt to wake them up.

"Come on, wake up you two." Maradina's voice cracked as she said to them with a smile on her face. Her tears were pouring profusely. "Don't worry, you'll be okay. All I have to do is sing."

"Maradina," Lanitrexis called but Maradina ignored her.

"Don't worry, you will be alright." Maradina wiped her tears.

She started to sing when Lanitrexis manifested and picked Maradina up with her tail. Maradina hit the tail with her fists but Lanitrexis didn't loosen her hold.

"The dead cannot be healed. You must accept what has happened." Lanitrexis tried to reason with Maradina.

"No they are just sleeping. Put me down and I will prove it to you."Maradina confidently insisted.

"You must get a grip on yourself or we will fall in this battle too."

"Shut up! You can't understand my pain! Why must everyone I love leave me? What did I do to deserve this curse? First I lost my family, then I lost the love of my life to a dragon. Next I lost Waxx and now Sana and Sanuika are gone! I'm I destined to live a mute life of solitude?" Maradina cried deeply. "I can't take this pain anymore. It is too much!"

"You will never be alone Maradina. I am with you. As for Waxx, he is still in your life and you have found a new friend in Akirexer. I know it hurts that Sana and Sanuika are gone but now isn't the time to mourn them. Your friends are out there fighting for their lives. You must fight alongside them and help put an end to this war. Only then will Sana and Sanuika not die in vain." Lanitrexis softly said to Maradina.

Maradina thought deeply about her words. After a moment of silence, she wiped what was left of her tears and hopped on Lanitrexis back. She took one heart breaking look at Sana and Sanuika and her tears threatened to fall. Maradina swallowed hard and a lump formed in her throat.

"Come on, let's go." Maradina ordered Lanitrexis.

"Where are we going?" Lanitrexis inquired.

"Wherever we are needed." Maradina answered and Lanitrexis took off in the open sky.
