"Jolene, don't!"
"Nicoooole!"
"Jolene!"
I laughed as he continued chasing after me.
"Jolene!"
"Jolene!"
"I'm begging of you, please don't take my man!" I yelled back, laughing.
I was almost to the stairs when his arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me again his chest. He chuckled as I struggled to break free.
"I caught you, darling." He whispered in my ear before planting a gentle kiss on my neck.
"Cheating asshole." I huffed.
"I'm an asshole, but not a cheater, in anything." He stated.
I sighed, "Fine, I won't tell her. But..."
"But what?"
"You have to cook breakfast tomorrow. You owe me anyways." I smirked.
He sighed and let go of me, "Okay, okay."
I groaned as I laid on the couch in his office. Cain had spotted Jefferson along the borders, but the bastard disappeared before he could catch him. Now, Alaricas refuses to let me out of his sight.
He told me that he didn't want me to go through what he went through. He didn't want to imagine me being in that much pain. That I already went through enough abuse as it is.
So, here I am, stuck on the couch. I looked up to see him narrowing his eyes at my phone. I regret lending my phone to him, because he's going to wonder who certain contacts are.
Specifically, Lucas, who is my gay cousin. This is going to be fun when he sees his name, if he's going through my phone.
"Who's Lucas?"
Bingo.
"My gay cousin." I sighed, bored.
"Oh...oh, okay."
"Why? Jealous?"
"Yes. You're mine."
I smirked at his possessiveness. Unlike other alphas, he isn't overly possessive. He lets me hangout with other guys as long as they don't touch me inappropriately or flirt with me. None of the guys do, they already know who they will have to answer to if they did.
I stuck my tongue out at him before staring at the ceiling again.
"Very mature, Jolene." Alaricas spoke.
I grinned, "I am, aren't I?"
He scoffed at me, I just laughed in return. I laid there for another few minutes when Cain burst through the office doors.
My eyes widened at the sight of the blood on his shirt, the paleness of his skin, and his struggle to breathe. I immediately ran over to him, wrapping my arms around him so I could support his weight.
"Cain, hey, what happened?" I asked, laying him down.
He groaned in pain as Alaricas applied pressure to his wounds.
"J-Jefferson, he's-
-back, bitches. Missed me?"
"Actually, quite the opposite." I snapped, standing before Cain and Alaricas.
He's not getting close to either one of them, he has done enough to those close to me. I glanced quickly at Cain to see him barely awake, I mentally cussed when I saw that his wounds weren't healing.
"He won't heal without anyone's help. He has silver in his system." Jefferson smirked.
I gritted my teeth, "What do you want?"
"I want to be alpha. Alaricas doesn't deserve it. Oh, and revenge." He growled.
"When he was depressed I took that as my chance to get rid of him. But you ruined my plans."
I smirked, "Sorry not sorry."
"Why are you protecting him anyway? He abused you." Jefferson snarled.
"Because it wasn't his fault that he abused me. I can't blame him when he didn't do anything."
"You love him."
I frowned, "No...not yet. At least."
Jefferson chuckled, "Such a shame that you can't understand your own emotions. If you didn't love him then you wouldn't be here, trying to protect him."
"I care about him, not love him. There's a difference." I growled.
I could feel Alaricas' hurt through the bond when I said that. I didn't mean for it to have a harsh edge to it, but it's the truth. I don't love Alaricas, I just care a lot for him.
Jefferson tilted his head, I could see a scar from where Cain slit his throat. He sighed and looked at Cain.
"I hope he dies. He deserves it for what he did to me." He growled.
I raised an eyebrow, "You got exactly what you deserved."
"Did I?"
I rolled my eyes at him, he's like that alpha Eli guy. I smirked, maybe I should send Jefferson to King Dimitri. I'm sure he would enjoy getting rid of this bastard.
"I did what I did because he killed my mate. She was a rogue, but she was beautiful. Of course Alaricas didn't care, he just snapped her neck in front of me. He forgot about her, as if she were dirt on his shoe." Jefferson whispered.
"I loved her."
I swallowed, "Alaricas...did you know she was his mate?"
"No...if he told me then I wouldn't have killed her." Alaricas answered.
I could hear the guilt in his voice, I quickly glanced at him. He was watching with honest eyes, eyes that also held remorse.
Jefferson laughed, "You would have killed her anyway! You're a man that's incapable of love, you claim you love Jolene, but you don't even know what love is!"
"Yes I do, my uncle-
"Your uncle didn't love you, he pitied you. There's a difference between those wonderful feelings. He felt bad for his bastard nephew and decided to make him happier. He never once loved you. I heard him talking to my father about it."
I frowned at the honesty flowing through his words and shining in his eyes. I clenched my jaw, he was being serious this time.
Alaricas sucked in a breath as if Jefferson had physically hurt him. I turned around to make sure he was okay.
"I have a better way of getting my revenge though."
We both frowned when I felt claws going through my back. I let out a pained cry that mixed with Jefferson's laughter. Before Alaricas could feel my pain, I blocked the bond and fell to the ground.
I let out a grunt of pain as I attempted to crawl away from Jefferson. I stiffened when he stepped onto my back, causing the wounds to hurt even more.
"Don't worry, I'll be nice and let you have a funeral for her. Even though you wouldn't allow us to hold a funeral for my mate." Jefferson sneered.
I cried out again when he clawed my back a second time, going the opposite way. I could feel my blood soaking my shirt and dripping onto the ground.
His weight suddenly left my back and Alaricas disappeared from in front of me. I slowly turned my head to see Alaricas pinning Jefferson against the wall.
A smirk was plastered on his face, "If you want your mate so bad, I'll happily reunite you with her."
Jefferson glared at him, "What? You're going to kill me too?"
Alaricas rolled his eyes, "No, I'm going to bake cup cakes with you."
"I see you've gained your confidence back."
"Well, I did, not Alaricas."
Both Jefferson and I stared at Alaricas in confusion.
"Th-the fuck?"
I looked up to see Cain staring at him in confusion too. His eyes slowly moved and landed on me, they widened when he noticed the loads of
blood on my back.
"Hey, how are you?" I smiled sadly.
He frowned, "What....?"
"Jefferson attacked me."
Cain looked back at the two men, "Alaricas is right there but...h-he's acting as if he's not A-Alaricas. Who the fuck is he?"
I frowned, "I don't know."
"I'm wondering the same thing here." Jefferson mumbled.
"Oh, you actually sound normal." I commented.
He narrowed his eyes, "Excuse me?"
"I'm Alaricas' wolf you idiots! Hi, nice to fucking meet you." Alaricas suddenly snapped.
"Asshole." I grumbled.
"Fucking tampon."
I looked at Cain, "Tampon? What the fu-
"Honestly, this was a serious moment, but you three just ruined it." Alaricas or well, his wolf, huffed.
"Well, excuse us if y-you confused us." Cain snapped.
"Who the hell did you think I was?"
I watched silently as Jefferson rolled his eyes and grabbed a silver dagger. I went to yell at Alaricas' wolf, but Jefferson already plunged it into his abdomen.
His wolf slowly looked at the dagger and yanked it out. He then glared at shocked Jefferson.
"Did you just fucking stab me?" He growled.
Jefferson frowned, "I thought..."
"You thought wrong."
With that, Alaricas' wolf slowly shoved the dagger into Jefferson's chest. I watched as Jefferson screamed in pain, earning a smile from Alaricas' wolf.
"Have a nice time in hell. Tell your mate I said hi."
He dropped Jefferson and sighed, he then walked over to me and carefully picked me up. He cradled me to his chest before looking at Cain, he narrowed his eyes.
"Don't call me a tampon." He growled.
Cain grumbled a few words as he attempted to stand. Alaricas' wolf sighed and told Cain to grab onto his shoulder.
"Idiot." He growled.
Cain glared at him, "Mutt."
"You should call him virgin dick." I grinned.
"One, don't call me that. Two, I just killed that asshat and you two are acting as if this is normal." Alaricas' wolf frowned.
I rolled my eyes, "Killing is completely normal for werewolves. You should know."
"Well, I didn't know you were okay with it. After all, I was possessed when you were here..."
I sighed, "Name is Jolene, I'm your mate."
He grinned, "Name is Shadow, I'm your mate."
"Oh, that's Cocaine." I smirked.
Cain narrowed his eyes at me, "Really?"
"Yupp."
"You two are weird." Shadow sighed.
A/N: So, Shadow is the more confident side of Alaricas. Since he's his wolf. I'll explain it all in the next chapter.
And I believe I just managed to add humor into a character's death. Eh, Jefferson didn't matter anyway lol.
