Chapter29
~Eliana~
I woke up, all curled up in the middle of the bed I had last slept in when I was fourteen, with a pillow in my arms, which was strange. Before sleeping off the previous night, I had been entwined in Alistair’s arms, and I had slept off while looking at his face, with him patting my hair lightly.
Yawning sleepily, I climbed out of the sheets, and looking around, I saw that he was nowhere to be seen in the bedroom, and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I felt really tired and weak, and all around my thighs ached, as Alistair had been lying in between them during the late hours of the night, having sex with me.
I smiled, thinking of all the fun things we had done at night, and taking a glance at the mirror in the bathroom, I found out that I had a hickey on my neck. Alistair made me feel like a teenager again, and I felt so lucky to have a man like him in my life.
I spread the toothpaste on my toothbrush, and began brushing my teeth slowly, and repeating the process again and again. When I stuck out my tongue to brush it as well, the memory of Alistair using his tongue to lick my pussy, flashed through my mind, and it made a wide grin appear on my face. I didn’t know if having dirty thoughts so early in the morning was a good thing, but it was the weekend, so, I could have sex all weekend if I wanted...or not.
While I had brought clothing that could last for only three days, Alistair had packed a whole suitcase like he was travelling for a month. Maybe he intended on spending more than just the weekend with me, and I didn’t even mind that at all. I wanted to spend more time with him, but I couldn’t say so, because I didn’t want him to have to choose between me and his work. Obviously, his work was more important, and I was satisfied with getting to see him when he could.
As for my writing, I could do it whenever I wanted. That was the beautiful thing about writing and working from home. You could do things whenever you wanted to, or whenever it was convenient for you, as long as you met the deadline. As for me, I always met the deadline.
I washed my mouth with clean water, rinsed the toothbrush, and kept it back in its holder, after which I washed my hands, and headed back to the bedroom. I dried my face with my towel, and that was when I noticed that the clothes Alistair and I had been putting on yesterday were all over the floor.
Heaving a deep sigh, I bent down and began to pick up the clothes, folding them one by one, and keeping them on the bed. When I was done, I straightened the bedsheets, then sprayed air freshener in the bedroom, and opened up the windows to let air come in, thankful that there were no neighbouring houses or anyone to see my nakedness.
So far, Alistair hadn’t even made a sound from the living room, which I guessed he was in. I hadn’t gone to check if he was there or not, since he had decided to leave me all by myself, in the comfort of a pillow.
I would have probably guessed that maybe like the hunch I had, something terrible had happened, and he had been kidnapped or something because we had not come along with guards, but just like Alistair had said when I expressed my concern the previous day, he was a werewolf...not just any werewolf, but an Alpha, and he could fight better than ten hefty men, if they decided to come for him.
If I just sat down here without doing anything, I was going to be extremely bored. There was an old television in the living room, and Alistair was also there to make me either happy or annoyed, which were both welcome, at this point and time, where I was feeling extremely lonely.
I didn’t have the time or energy to rummage through my belongings, and just picked up Alistair’s white shirt I had just folded, and wore it on my body. I stared at myself in the large mirror as I buttoned up the shirt. My hair was in a wild mess, and I just packed it into a messy bun, with many strands falling over.
I opened the door, and closed it quietly behind me, with the intention of surprising him. That was when I remembered that he was a werewolf, and I was only just wasting my time. Good grief! I couldn’t even surprise my own boyfriend; he’d always know when I was around. So much for closing the doors quietly.
I stepped into the living room, but to my surprise, he was nowhere to be seen around there. I was starting to wonder where exactly he could be, when an aroma that wafted through the air struck my nose, and I inhaled, with relish.
No way... Was Alistair being romantic by cooking something delicious? Well, I was about to find out by myself.
I stepped into the kitchen, and a delightful sight met my eyes. He was there, wearing no shirt, and clad only in Calvin Klein boxers, flipping over a pancake in a frying pan, and immediately, a smile appeared on my face.
“You’re awake,” He noted, without even looking up.
“Yes, I am,” I said, gleefully, and went to hug him from behind, causing him to chuckle.
“I’m surprised you hugged me. Thought you were going to be angry because I was not by your side when you woke up,” He said.
“Trust me, I was,” I said, pressing my nose to his bare back.
“What changed?” He asked.
“You were so nice to prepare breakfast for us. I never knew you could cook. I thought we were going to order in pizza or something,” I replied.
He placed the last pancake on the ceramic plate where the others were, and turned off the heat, then went to the sink to wash his hands. I didn’t stop hugging him, as my arms were still firm around his back, and I followed him to the sink.
He grabbed a napkin, which he used to wipe his hands, after which he turned around, and pulled me closer, with his arms around my waist, while I kept mine around his back.
“Good morning, princess,” He said, plastering a kiss on my forehead.
“Good morning, babe,’ I said, wearing a big smile on my face. I then added, “You decided to start calling me princess? Is that the only pet name you could think of?” I asked.
He nodded his head, in the affirmative. “As a matter of fact, yes. I thought of so many pet names I could call you, but that’s the only one that stuck. You see, I’ve always seen you as a princess, with the way you dress, laugh, talk, walk, plus the modern day castle you live in, and the fact that you are so girly. I didn’t know if I should call you that, but finding out that you can’t cook made me confirm that it was indeed the most suitable pet name for you,” He said.
I giggled. “How did you find out that I suck at cooking?” I questioned.
“When you said we were going to order in pizza or something. I bet you can’t cook to save your life,” He said.
“You’re not far from the truth,” I said, and in that moment, our eyes locked with each other, and while we held eye contact, a smile appeared on my face, and he also smiled, tightening the pressure his arms had around my waist.
He tilted his head, and I closed my eyes instantly, after which he pressed his lips against mine, kissing me, with a burning desire. I wriggled in his arms, and moved closer to him, kissing him back. My lips parted, giving way for his tongue, which tasted of milk and syrup, to dive into my mouth, swirling it all around my tongue, then bringing it out, he nibbled against my lower lip, making my stomach sink.
He then carried me in his arms, in a sitting position, in which I could face him, without his lips letting go of mine. He placed me on the kitchen counter, and kissed my neck lightly, and slowly began to unbutton the dress.
“Who said you could wear my shirt?” He asked, in a drowsy and deep sexy tone.
“What’s yours is mine,” I replied.
He gave a light chuckle, and kissed me again on the lips, lightly. He made me spread my legs wide, but the pain in my thighs kicked in, and a scream escaped my mouth.
“That wasn’t a moan,” He noted. “What is wrong? Did I do something wrong?” He asked, out of concern.
“It’s not you. I realised I had this pain in my thighs when I woke up this morning,” I said.
“Guess it’s my fault then. You’re delicate, and I made you carry me in your thighs all night long. There was bound to be an aftermath,” He said, looking really sorry.
“You didn’t make me do it. I wanted to do it, because I enjoyed every part of it,” I told him, trying to keep him from blaming himself.
He shrugged his shoulders. “Either way, it is my responsibility, and I have to do something about it,” He said.
“What are you going to do? If you’re going to apply a healing balm, and massage that area, please, don’t. I’d rather wait for the pain to go by itself,” I said to him.
He scoffed. “You amaze me, princess. Why do you keep forgetting that I’m not human?” He asked, shaking his head, with a disappointed look written on his face.
“Maybe it’s because you live like everyone else, and not in the forest with a pack of other werewolves,” I replied.
“Not all werewolves live in the forest like you and most people believe. They also live normally like regular human beings, and they are closer than you could possibly think. In fact, they are everywhere. People just don’t know it,” He explained.
“Seriously? They’re everywhere?” I asked, panic starting to creep in.
He gave a small laugh. “Yes, they are everywhere, but you don’t need to be afraid, because they won’t hurt you. Unlike most people believe, we don’t go around looking for trouble. We only come after those who have hurt us in one way or another,” He told me.
“Wow, that’s interesting. Is there a way you get to recognise other werewolves if you see them though?” I asked, curiosity slowly taking over the sexual desire I had minutes ago.
“Yes, of course. We can sense when someone around us is also a werewolf. At that point, our eyes could just meet, and we’d give each other a knowing smile, and go about our business,” He replied.
“Do they know you’re the Alpha by just looking at you?” I asked.
“No, they don’t. I’d have to show them the colour of my eyes first,” I responded.
“Okay. So, when last did you see a werewolf, apart from Jennifer and Garrett?” I asked.
“On Sunday. There’s this shopping mall close to where I live, and the owner of it is a werewolf. I’ve known him since I was just a kid, and he helped me learn how to control my transformation. I was so grateful to have met him, because it wasn’t easy for me, and I’d always disappear into the forest during the full moon, so that I won’t hurt anyone. When my mother went to get some groceries one day, and I went with her, we both just knew that we were the same, and he’s been of immense help ever since then,” He replied.
“That’s good to know. I thought that werewolves had to deal with transformation when they attained puberty though,” I told him.
“Well, you all don’t know shit about werewolves, although you’re somehow right. We start to deal with transformation during puberty, but that’s not always the case,” He said.
“Explain what you mean,” I requested.
“Well, something could trigger it at an early age. For example, mine started at the young age of seven. I saw my biological parents being shot and mocked by some hunters, and I didn’t want to believe I was powerless, and there was nothing I could do about it. I wanted to get back at those hunters, and as I yelled in anger, I felt power seeping through me, and the yell turned into a growl. That was my first transformation. I was able to kill one of the hunters, but the rest escaped unscathed.
“By the time I untied my parents, my mum was already gone. As for my father, he was still trying to breathe. I wanted to save him and take away his pain, but there was absolutely nothing I could do. They had poisoned him with yellow wolfsbane, and unless taken care of early enough, there is no way one can survive a yellow wolfsbane poison. He told me he was proud of me, and instructed me to take his life.”
“Why?” I asked, surprised.
He removed a strand of hair that was in my face. “You see, to become an Alpha, you need to attain that position by killing an Alpha, except if you become a true Alpha through exceptional or righteous qualities,” Alistair explained.
I nodded my head, in understanding. “So, your father wanted you to become an Alpha, and that’s why he asked you to take his life before he died from the wolfsbane poison,” I said.
“Exactly. Someone needed to lead my pack, and there was no way I could become a true Alpha, since I had already killed someone at the age of seven,” He told me.
I placed my hand on his, and squeezed it gently. “You know that wasn’t your fault, right? Anyone would have done the same thing if they were in your shoes,” I told him.
“But would anyone had taken their own father’s life with their claws?” He asked, and I could tell that he was feeling guilty.
“You took his life?” I asked.
He nodded, in the affirmative. “Yes, I did. That was his last request, so, I heeded to it, but everyday, I sit and wish I hadn’t. I can never get it out of my head,” He said.
“All you did was do as your father had asked. He wanted his pack to have a leader, and he thought you were the right person for it. I don’t think that what you did was wrong. It was the right thing to do. Since he was going to die anyway, why let him die for nothing? Stop feeling guilty, or beating yourself up about it, okay? You did nothing wrong,” I told him.
He forced a smile. “Thanks. That means so much,” He said.
“So, how about the pack? You’ve never mentioned anything about them,” I said.
He shrugged. “They didn’t believe my own side of the story. All they saw was a little boy, corrupted by greed, so much that he could transform to a werewolf at a young age, and kill his parents, just so he could be a leader over everyone,” He said.
I gasped, in shock. “So, they rejected you as their leader?” I asked.
“Yes. Not only did they do that, they also banished me,” He responded.
“At the age of seven?” I expressed, in utter shock, feeling really bad about what Alistair had had to go through.
He nodded. “They said that I was old enough to take care of myself. It was after then I came to the human world, pretended to have amnesia, and got adopted by a wealthy family,” He said.
“I never knew you’ve gone through so much, Alistair. I’m so sorry,” I said.
“It’s fine, princess. It’s not your fault,” He told me.
“Still...”
He cut in. “Still, it’s not your fault. Thanks to what happened back then, I was able to become a billionaire, and had I been in the forest, I would have never met you,” He said.
A smile crept up to my face, as I stroked his hair, lovingly. “Should I be happy that you were kicked out of your pack then?” I asked.
“Maybe,” He replied, and we were both thrown into a fit of laughter.
“Now, let me see those thighs,” He said.
I looked at him intently, wondering what he was about to do.
He spread my legs wide, and put his hands on each side of my thigh, and I saw his veins become visible, and they were black in colour, looking as though something was flowing through them. The next moment, I did not feel pain in my thighs anymore.
“What did you do?” I asked.
He smiled, in response to my question. “I took away the pain you were feeling,” He said.
“What could I possibly do without you? I must be the luckiest girl in the world, because having a werewolf as a boyfriend is literally the best thing ever,” I said, beaming with extreme happiness.
“You’re also the beat girlfriend ever,” He told me, planting a kiss on my lips.
The healing miracle he had performed on me triggered a memory that I had began to forget about. Ten years ago, I had also been in pain and someone had taken away the pain, saving my life, and giving me a second chance to live. I couldn’t remember anyone or anything else from that day though. I had been too dizzy and weak to remember anything.
“The food must be getting cold,” He mumbled, releasing my lips from his.
“Yeah. We should eat first,” I said, as he helped me get down from the kitchen counter.
In more ways than I had expected, Alistair and I were alike. Like me, he had been rejected from society, but he didn’t even look like the pain he had gone through. He had lost everyone, and I’d make sure he never lost me as well.
