Chapter 40
~Eliana~
I was so impressed with what Alistair had done. Not only had he gotten more admiration from me by breaking free from his chains, much to the disappointment of those who had been plotting his downfall, he had also been so merciful as to forgive them and let them go, when he could have killed all of them if he wanted.
Something bothered me though. He would have done something really terrible to his aunt. I mean, it was evident in the manner in which he had glared at her, tightening his fists and approaching her with his fangs and claws drawn out. It looked like he was going to kill her had I not stopped him from doing so at the right time. Maybe he had let her go because I had succeeded in calming him down. What about when he was just seven years old? There was no one to stop him then, and I didn’t think it was possible that he’d have been able to control his temper at such a young age, if he didn’t even know how to do so after twenty-five years.
He shot a small smile at me as he sped through the streets of Los Angeles, taking me home. He had dropped Garrett a few blocks away, requesting that he understood he needed to spend some alone time with me. Garrett had never even wanted to be in the car in the first place, and was instantly pleased with Alistair’s request. He wanted to go to a bar to clear his head after all that had happened today.
There were many questions that filled my head, as well as many doubts that lingered on in my mind. Aunt Salome’s words, as much as I tried to tell myself that they weren’t true, kept playing in my head. It didn’t feel like all she had said had been completely true, but it did have some truth in it. I didn’t want to doubt Alistair, but even as I tried to think about other things, like the number of beautiful stars in the sky tonight, I just couldn’t help but let my mind wander off into giving so much attention to all of Aunt Salome’s words.
“What’s on your mind?” Alistair asked, swerving the car in the left direction, as we had approached a T-junction.
“Nothing much,” I replied, wearing a faint smile on my face.
“Are you thinking about what my aunt had said?” He asked, giving me a knowing smile.
I nodded my head gently, in the affirmative, not wanting to lie to him.
“Didn’t you once say trust is very vital in a relationship? Don’t you trust me?” He asked.
“I trust you, Alistair. I just can’t seem to get my mind off all she had said about you. I’m trying to believe in you and trust all that you’ve told me so far, but how can I be so sure that you told me the whole truth? I mean, you didn’t even tell me that you have an aunt,” I said.
He nodded, apparently understanding where I was coming from. “I get you, sweetie, and honestly, I can’t blame you for having doubts in your mind. I guess the only way I can get rid of your doubts is if I am complete honest with you about everything. Tell me, princess. What is it that you wish to be cleared about?” Alistair asked.
I shrugged my shoulders. “The only thing I really want to know is if your parents really neglected you, and you wished they could lose their powers a day before they died,” I said.
“Yes, they did. My parents loved me, I know they did, and it’s not like they neglected me on purpose. As the leaders of our pack, they just wanted to be there for everyone, and they were scared that if they doted on their only child, they’d neglect in their duties to our people. Aunt Salome was right about me telling her that I wish they could lose their powers. Eliana, I was just a child craving the love and attention of his parents, and that statement I made has haunted me from that day till now.
“What really happened was that my mother had overheard what I had said to Aunt Salome, and she felt bad, knowing it was her fault and my father’s that I was wishing that upon them. When I retired to our quarters that night, they told me we would be going on a family picnic the next day. I was excited and overjoyed, and we went on the picnic. We had hardly settled down when the hunters attacked us, and my mother immediately pushed me away, telling me to go get help. I ran to get help, but I didn’t find anyone. When I heard the sound of a gunshot, I ran back, and you know the remaining story,” He explained.
I heaved a sigh, giving him a look which expressed how sorry I was for his plight. “Didn’t your parents fight back?” I asked.
“They were powerless after inhaling wolfsbane powder. You know the question I ask myself every time I remember what had happened on that unfortunate day twenty-five years ago?” He inquired.
I shook my head, in negativity.
“I ask myself how the hunters knew we were going on a picnic that day, and how they had been so prepared to take down my parents. We lived deep in the forest, and away from the eyes of people like your parents, no offence,” He said.
“None taken. Go on,” I urged.
“These hunters were so prepared, had all the weapons they needed, ranging from wolfsbane down to mountain ash and silver bullets. It’s like they had known where and when to find us,” He told me.
“That means there had to be a traitor that had given him that information. Didn’t you find out who the person was?” I asked.
He shook his head. “Sadly, I never did. No one knew about the picnic except my parents and I. It was kept a secret away from the rest of the world. Whoever had heard it had eavesdropped on our conversation, and I couldn’t tell who it was,” He explained.
I heaved a sigh, feeling pity towards him. “Don’t you have any guesses? What if it was your aunt? Didn’t she just try to take your powers now?” I asked.
“Aunt Salome isn’t a murderer. You saw how she bragged a lot, but didn’t kill me in order to get my powers. It wasn’t her,” He said.
“I have one more question for you, babe.”
“Okay? Shoot.”
“If I hadn’t stepped in, would you have killed your aunt?” I asked.
A smirk played around his lips. “Even if I did kill her, she would have deserved it for trying to hurt you. Well, I didn’t intend on killing anyone, but they definitely weren’t going to leave there unscathed,” He replied.
A wide grin appeared on my face. “That wouldn’t have been too bad, you know,” I said.
“I know,” He affirmed, as we both chuckled.
“Alistair, I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through, and please, forgive me for ever doubting you,” I apologised.
“It’s okay, princess. I guess you can call us even now. I doubted you concerning Sam, and you’ve done the same thing today. I must say I’m thankful for what you did today though. You said those powerful words, which made me have faith in myself again. I don’t know what I’ll do without you, sweetie. You bring out the best in me, and today made me realise how much I need you in my life. Please, don’t ever leave me,” He said.
I felt really emotional, hearing him say the words he had just said. “You know, we’re like two pieces of puzzles that can’t make sense when they’re apart. I also need you in my life, Alistair. I’m thankful that you saved my life yet again,” I told him, wearing a small smile on my face.
He smiled back at me. “Speaking about saving my life, how did you remember?” He asked.
“That day you healed me when there I felt pain in my thighs, I had a flashback about that day. I don’t even remember that day normally, and I just always say I had been saved by a miracle. I couldn’t remember your face, but after hearing Jennifer’s voice at Sam’s welcome party, I remembered your voices perfectly. Everything was blurry that day, but I remembered the way your voice sounded,” I explained to him.
A look of surprise washed across his face. “Wow. This is so surprising. How come you didn’t tell me when you remembered?” He asked.
I shrugged. “An opportunity hadn’t presented itself, that’s why,” I said.
“Understandable. At least, you finally get to know that you’re alive because of me,” He said, pushing his hair back, appearing prideful.
“Away with your cockiness,” I said, as we both burst into a fit of laughter.
“Sorry that I didn’t inform you earlier. I just didn’t see the need to,” He said, as a means of rendering an apology.
“It’s not a big deal, babe. You were with Jennifer that day. It’s nice to see you’ve also had a long-time friend. However, why did you tell her that you saved me for future purposes?” I asked. Ever since I remembered what was said on the day of the accident ten years ago, I had been meaning to ask him what he meant by saving me for future purposes, and I was glad that I finally got a chance to do so.
He cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably in his seat, as he approached my estate.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Nothing. Nothing is wrong,” He replied, forcing a weird laughter.
“I asked you a question, Alistair,” I said, beginning to grow suspicious of the intention he had had in mind when saving my life.
He shrugged. “I saw a pretty damsel in distress, and you seemed to be pleading for your life to be spared...”
“I didn’t want to die before I even got a chance to live,” I said, cutting in.
“I understand. You were so beautiful and you didn’t deserve all that was coming to you. Honestly, I just saved you because you were pretty and I was hoping you’d consider me worthy enough of being your man someday, if you discovered that it was I who had saved your life,” He explained.
An uncontrollable laughter broke out from within me, and he joined in.
“You liar!” I accused, in between laughs.
“Okay. To be honest, I just saved your life because it needed saving. Jenny then decided to ask a very stupid question, and I gave her a sarcastic response,” He said, in a more believable tone.
“You’re sure?” I asked.
“That’s the truth, princess,” He replied.
“I guess I should thank you for saving my life then. I’ll save your life someday as well, I promise,” I said.
He pulled over in front of my house, and sighed in relief. It had been a very long drive all the way from where I had been abducted to my house, and I could tell that he was as tired as I was, even though I hadn’t been the one driving.
“You may not know it, Eliana, but you did save my life today. Those words you said worked like magic and gave me all the strength I needed to break free from my chains, so, in a way, you were the one who saved all our lives today. I guess what I am trying to say is that you don’t owe me one,” He said, looking deep into my eyes.
I felt a tingling sensation in my heart, and leaned closer to him. “I guess I owe you this much, at least,” I said, as we simultaneously found our way to each other’s lips, kissing as if we would never get a chance to do so again.
He made me lie down, and lay on me, kissing me with so much passion and love. He took off his shirt and helped me take off my tank top, burying his head in between my breasts, as he groped them with so much desire, caressing them lovingly. I moaned as he sucked on one nipple, not letting go of the other.
I felt his erection against my vagina, and it made me long for him. I wanted him right now. The day had been so stressful, and all that could make up for it was if I had him deep inside of me.
He placed his lips on mine again, diving his tongue into my mouth, tasting of the sweetness of cheese. Wrapping one of my hands around his neck, I drew him closer to me, as I held his head with my free hand, feeling more eager for him as his hard body was pressed against mine, sending signals to my system.
He trailed his fingers around my navel, then slowly, he worked his way down to my vagina, underneath my jeans, rubbing my clit and sending me into cloud nine as I yearned more and more for his touch. He thrust a finger into my vagina, and I moaned loudly. He dipped it in, brought it out, and repeated the process over and over again, after which he slid that same finger into my mouth, making me lick my own squirt.
He gave me a naughty smile, and whispered sweet nothings in my ears, before going on to nibble on my neck with his lips, making my stomach sink in delight.
“I love you so much,” I said, meaning it.
“Of course, you do,” He said, and kissed me once more on the lips, before he withdrew from me, picking up his shirt and sitting back in the driver’s seat.
“Did I do something wrong?” I asked, feeling quite embarrassed, as he tossed my tank top to me.
“I sensed someone was staring at us,” He said, buttoning his shirt.
“That’s fine. Aren’t your windows tinted?” I asked.
“Yeah, they are. It just so happens that it’s your mother who has been standing at the gate and looking at my car with wide eyes, and a stretched neck,” He explained.
I gave a small laugh, as I sat up, wearing my tank top, and adjusting my jeans.
“She obviously just wants to know what we’re up to,” I said.
“Exactly, and if I don’t come out to say hi, she’d know that I haven’t seen her yet, because I’m busy screwing up her daughter,” He told me.
“I’m sure she already knows we do have sex,” I said, flexing my muscles.
“Yeah, she knows, but it doesn’t mean I have to do that in front of her. If we were married, it would be a different thing entirely,” Alistair explained.
“Then, marry me. You’re a rich and influential person, my parents wouldn’t hesitate to give us their blessings,” I told him in a joking manner, but also quite serious about it. I mean, where was the relationship leading to if not marriage?
“Oh, really?” He inquired, with one brow slightly raised.
“Oh, really,” I affirmed, wearing a smirk.
He pushed back a strand of hair that was in my face, and stared at me, with so much affection. “There’s no need to rush things, princess. Good things take time after all,” He said, smiling.
“You’re absolutely right,” I said, planting a kiss on his beautiful pink lips.
“Your mum has gone back inside,” He noted, giving me another one of his romantic gaze.
“Well, should we continue from where we stopped then?” I asked, getting lost in his eyes.
“Nah. I wouldn’t have you receiving an earful from your parents tonight because of me,” He objected.
“They wouldn’t...”
“Shush!” He said, placing his index finger on my lips, making my heart flutter.
“Trust me, this is hard for me as well, but all you need after today’s troubles is just a warm bath, a cup of hot tea, and a goodnight’s sleep,” He said, then slowly, he removed his finger from my lips, after successfully taking my breath away.
I leaned forward to him, and without bothering to resist my seduction, his lips came upon mine, hard and with a burning desire.
I didn’t care about what my parents thought, and I knew for sure that I didn’t need sleep for now. All I needed was Alistair Duke. All I needed was him. He was all I needed.
