KANE

"Alpha, Alpha Braum is calling." My secretary's voice comes through my phone and I slump back in my seat.

"Put him through." I say as I rub my forehead.

This fucking headache. All I want to do is leave and go to my mate who I like to think is still in bed, unable to move from how many times I claimed her last night.

These past few weeks have been so good with my mate but now it's back to running a pack, long days and constant migraines at the fucking incompetence of some people I deal with, in and out the pack grounds.

"Alpha Braum, to what do I owe the pleasure of this unexpected call." I say sarcastically.

"Alpha Black." He makes my acquaintance. "I heard you have a mate." He says quizzingly and I growl lowly.

"What do you want Braum." I growl out.

I knew there was a fucking reason Braum would be calling me. He's so far up her ass that I'm sure he loves doing her dirty work. Pathetic excuse for an Alpha.

"Or should I ask, what does Lila want." I add.

He growls. "That is your majesty to you Dog!" He barks out and I laugh amused. Dog?

She will never be my queen. She's weak, fragile and has others do her work for her, the royal family really has gone downhill since Blacks left the scene. Lila is a child nonetheless, Braum's sudden call must be her making the first move. I knew it would come but not this soon. I need to act wisely.

I hide the venom in my voice as I glare at the phone picturing my hand around his neck squeezing as I watch the life fade from his pathetic worthless body. "My apologies, now what can I do for you." I say hiding my hatred.

Lucas enters my office and he frowns and points to the phone and I nod.

"Her Majesty wants to meet you and your Luna for tea. Let's say, tomorrow, noon. At the castle." He says and I can feel my wolf and I get pissed off. How dare she think she can command us.

Desperate to break this phone and smash this desk in half. I grip the bridge of my nose and control my breathing. "We will be there." I spit out and hang up the phone. Throwing it across the room caused it to break into pieces. I'm breathing heavily, needing to break more things to control the two beasts inside me.

"I see I came at a bad time." Lucas speaks.

I glare at him and he puts his hands up as a surrender. "Woah, I come in peace. " he says amusingly. "Are you sure that's wise, to meet her?"

Putting my hands through my hair for the 100th time today I nod. "Like I have a fucking choice here, the word is out and it's only going to get worse if I ignore her."

He nods with worry on his face. "This is not good then. What are you going to do?" He asks.

I try to mask my sinister smile and knowing plan. I have thought about this scenario a million times. I knew Lila would do this and she knew I would accept. I've had years to plan this out.

I shrug. "You know me Lucas, I do what I must."

"That's what worries me." He says knowingly.

Entering the front door of our home, I smell instantly that Sora is upstairs in her studio. It makes me and my wolf overjoyed that we did a good thing and she loves it.

Unless she's in bed with me, she spends all her free time there.

I don't knock as I go inside and I see her, illuminated from the light outside, she's glowing and the sight takes my breath away every time I see her. Raw beauty.

I glance at her painting and it's a painting of the waterfall I took her to in the woods of Deepwater, also the first time I shifted in front of her.

She hasn't noticed me yet as I lead down to her ear. "Beautiful." I say. Startling her, making her jump and cuss out.

"Kane! You scared me.." she says with a cute frown on her face.

I capture her lips in a longing kiss. I never get tired of being with her and I never will. Being with her is all I want. "I need to tell you something." I say seriously with a sigh as I kiss her lips again and then sit on the sofa behind her.

She glances at me with a frown. "What's wrong?"

I smile at my mate. She always expects bad things and I feel guilty that I have no good news lately for her, she deserves to relax. "It's nothing bad, but I should prepare you." I sigh with a heavy sigh.

I really hate when she looks scared or worried at me.

"For what?" She asks.

I come right out and tell her. Keeping my promise to not hide anything from her anymore. I promised to involve her in my world that she is now a part of. "We were requested to meet the queen tomorrow at noon, for lunch." I say, simply. Even though I'm seething at the thought of Lila being in the same room as me and my mate.

"The Queen? As in The Queen of your world? The Supernatural?" She asks confused.

I nod, watching her reaction carefully. She pales first then frowns next. I grab her hand and caress it. "I will be there, and Lex and Lucas, you have nothing to worry about." I say assuring her.

"But isn't this bad? Why aren't you more worried.." She asks nervously, her pulse quickening slightly.

I smile reassuringly at her. "I have you, I fear nothing." I say simply.

She gapes at me and I grin. "Kane be serious."

I stand and go by the window. Looks like rain again. "Sora I won't lie to you." I turn to face her, my face hard. "Lila is curious, I have a mate and I could claim the throne if I wanted to, she is playing nice but make no mistake, she is a snake and she craves to keep the power her family stole from mine." I say.

She nods, her eyes wide with panic. "Kane do you want to become king?" She asks quietly and I laugh, breaking the tension in the room that smells of paint and my beautiful mate.

I shake my head. "I did not want that burden no." I say truthfully. "But if she gave me no other choice, I would have to kill her and claim the throne." I sigh.

She tenses up and I feel bad. "For now we play nice and have 'tea' with royalty. Look on the bright side sweetheart, you will see where my family ruled for thousands of years in The Vale." I say with a smile.

It's been a long while since I visited. But the Vale is a magic world where wolves have rarely visited since the war.

Sora relaxes and slumps back, putting her paintbrushes away, and goes to where I am near the window and stares outside. I raise an eyebrow and she sighs looking at me. "Tell me about your world?" She asks and I smile.

"Of course." I say amused she asked so politely.

I lift up my mate as she smiles widely at me. I shake my head. "Ah-ah, later." I wink at her and she blushes. I sit down on the sofa with her on my lap, she's cuddling into my chest and I inhale her scent, she's such an addictive little minx without even trying.
