Rain
I wasn't myself the whole time. It was only then that I had a sense of myself when Alpha Ace carried me back to his room and put some blankets on me.
He then leaned in and kissed my forehead, “I’ll leave you here to rest. I’ll be back.” And I only remembered him muttering those words before closing the door.
I was then left alone to myself. I stared blanket at the ceiling above. I wanted to cry more but I didn’t even feel the tears coming down.
I wanted to just lock myself inside this room but at the same time wanted to run wild.
Alpha Ace prepared a funeral for my aunt and I watched as her body was getting buried. It was soon over as everyone went back to their positions and acted as if nothing happened.
I could feel Alpha Ace’s hands on my shoulder as he slightly rubbed my shoulder to comfort e. “It will be all okay, I promise. I know I am not in the position to say this…”
I ignored him. I do not even know why I a directing my anger at him.
If only he found us sooner.
But I knew the fault is not his, it was mine. It was solely mine. I was just stupid too stupid.
“Do you want to”
“No.” I instantly said no to him.
“I’ll let you stay here. It will rain soon enough, please get inside before you get drenched. You’ll get sick.”’ He reminded me and I just nodded absentmindedly.
“I know.”
I could feel his footsteps disappearing now. I was left alone on her grave as I was silently staring at the ground she was buried on. I sighed, biting my lip as I sat down and started to play with the grass. I do not know what to do from now on.
I do not have any inspiration to go on.
It seems that I was drained and my heart was clenched enough that I couldn’t even think straight.
I didn’t know how many minutes I had stayed there as I only felt a water droplet falling on my forehead, followed by another drop, then another, and another until the slight drizzle turned into rain.
I lay there, my whole body drenched, my whole clothes wet, and I just let myself. I closed y eyes savoring the moment and also letting my tears fall.
This way, my tears won’t be visible to them. Just then, the water droplet suddenly stopped pouring on my face.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Alpha Ace blocking my view, carrying an umbrella with him.
“You’ll get sick, Kira.”
“Then let it happen. Atleast that way I’ll die.” I answered. He instanlty pulled me up and embraced me, burying my face into his shoulder protectively.
He was gentle and soft, and his warm hands had somehow provided some small comfort to me.
“Don’t say that.” His voice somehow cracked, he sounded fragile. And soft. As if I hurt him even when I was too small compared to him. His hand caressed my cheek and stroked my hair. “Please, it pains me to see you like this. It reminds me how stupid I was that I rescued you too late.”
“Then what? Are you telling me to stop crying?” I yelled at him, knowing that we were the only ones outside and that everyone is already at the packhouse.
“I’m not telling you to stop. I’m telling you to cry it out. I prefer to see you crying than staring blankly without any emotion. I want you to let it all out in front of me, so much that no tears will come out.”
I sucked in a deep breath, “You don’t understand my pain, Ace. Stop. You’re only making it worse. I want to blame you for everything, for f*cking everything! But the worst part is how I know that it was my fault!”
He then pulled me deeper in a hug and I struggled to clasp away, fighting back from him but he was strong, his strength overpowered mine. I pushed and kicked and screamed, making him drop the umbrella he was holding so he was completely drenched now too. He only stayed still, stayed calm despite my outburst, and stayed patient with me.
He then gently grabbed my chin and planted a soft kiss on my forehead, muttering, “I’m sorry.”
I didn’t know why but his words calmed me down and I stayed still, just glaring at him. I sniffled, and he was watching my expression, waiting and ensuring that I was calmed down enough. When he was certain, he wiped my nose before loosening his grip as he started to carry me bridal style on the inside.
It was still raining heavily. He then carried me inside the house and I only noticed how he returned me to his room. He gently dropped me to the chair like a delicate flower vase and went to his closet to grab his large black T-shirt. Alpha Ace then pulled my shirt up and I was about to protest when he explained, “You’re wet, I’ll change your clothes.”
I didn’t have any energy to say no or to even argue with him and I just let him do what he wanted. He then pulled up my shirt, revealing my bra. There was a slight pause as his eyes trailed on my boobs which were dripping wet and he gulped, clenching his jaw and restraining himself from touching me. He successfully changed my wet shirt into his black one and then pulled down my wet pants, revealing my underwear.
I caught him biting his lip at the sight, sucking in a deep breath as he swallowed and grabbed his shorts, and covered them.
I’m surprised he had that much self-restraint today…
Well, now is not the time for that as I am grieving. And I appreciate his respecting me.
He then carried me again to the bed with his now fresh clothes as he made me lay down and tucked in the blanket.
Alpha Ace then put his hand on my forehead to check my temperature, “There. Stay and sleep. I know you’ll get sick from the rain so I’ll prepare a hot broth for you.”
I nodded, my eyes wanting to drift to sleep now as he walked away.
I instantly fall asleep that day, and I didn’t know how many hours I stayed still, lying on the bed when I only heard some commotion outside.
The sun was up and it seemed that the weather has cleared up. I glanced at the window to check and there were about twenty lined up outside as if waiting for someone.
I blinked, standing up, I wanted to check more but I felt my knees turning jelly. I decided to let myself breathe and walked around.
As I was walking around, I could feel the stares of the pack members, their eyes looking at me with pity. Well, news must have gotten around fast here as they knew it.
I could feel the whispering to myself and heard one mutter, “Man, the Red Crows had it coming. They shouldn’t have messed up with our alpha’s mate.”
“Well, that’s too stupid of them. He’ll never let them get away with that.” Replied his other friend. “I heard he was on his way there now.”
I stopped in my tracks, my attention was stolen from them so I walked to the man and grabbed the man by the collar, “What? Tell me where the alpha is going?”
The man struggled, keeping his mouth shut but I gripped his neck tighter, “Tell me!”
“We’re not allowed to say it!” The man panicked and I breathed deeply.
“Say it!”
The man closed his eyes as if it was a curse to answer but then he gave up as he struggled to me, “He’s going to the Red Crows and attack them!”
Red Crows? That was enough answer as I pushed the man away and burst Alpha Ace’s door open.
He was sitting there calmly, looking at the papers in front of him when he noticed me entering.
“Yes? you’re already up?” He asked, then looked at my neck as he put his hand on my forehead, “You’re sick.”
I scoffed, not even noticing that but I pushed his hand aside as I demanded, “Tell me, where are you going?”
He raised his eyebrows, “Somewhere.”
I gritted my teeth, “Don’t lie to me, just tell me.”
He sighed, “Seems that they told you….I’m going to avenge your aunt’s death.” He suddenly blurted out, and I raised my eyebrows.
“I won’t let you….” I said, “Not without me.”
He shook his head, “No, it’s dangerous Kira-”
“Now. I want to go with you now.” I said firmly, nothing could change my thoughts now. I want to see those werewolves who attacked us and kill them myself.
Alpha Ace’s lips turned into a smirk as he nodded, which surprised me as I thought he would reject it.
“Very well then. We’ll leave at dawn.” He answered.
