City of Lights
I was made to wear a lilac-colored dress filled with large diamond embroidery that hung from my waist to my legs. Except I could see my bulged-up stomach in my reflection.
I sighed, “Hang in there, my little one.” I mumbled.
If this was a different realm, this might have cost a whole million dollars….
I would die to sell this dress if I was the same teenage girl who was hopeful for the world.
“Are you ready, Princess Kira?” Asked Lana, who was also wearing a beautiful pink dress.
I nodded.
She smiled, “You look beautiful, princess.”
Lana then guided me to the outside world and once again, I caught a glimpse of the witch realm.
The whole place was much enchanting now filled with different lights hanging around the trees. I gasped at the little butterflies flying around with neon light.
There were also fireflies dancing around the echoes of the chants of the witches, but my eyes can’t escape the view of the flying little fairies over the field of pink daisies.
Lana caught me staring at them.
“Are they….fairies?” I gulped, stammering in the process. They look so beautiful.
“Yes, haven’t you seen one before?” She was asking as if I had grown three heads.
I shook my head, realizing I was ogling at them.
“No, we don’t have them in the human world…”
One of the fairies flew toward me and I was immediately reminded of tinker bell.
She had long blue hair cascading down her feet and bright purple eyes with a pointed nose and fair skin. She was wearing a sage green dress that suits her.
“Oh hello there.” I giggled as she went into my nape and my hair. There were a few sparkling materials that were falling ok her feet and I knew those were fairy dust…
“I am Kira…and you are?”
She just looked at me and smiled before twirling around me.
Lana seemed frozen beside me and I raised my eyebrows, “What are you standing there for? I just made a fairy friend!” I exclaimed excitedly. When the little fairy seemed satisfied, she then went back to the flowers along with her peers.
Lana gulped at me, “Did you know that was not usual?”
I blinked, “What do you mean?”
“It’s a miracle. Fairies in this realm don’t usually approach us….except only the strong ones since they only come near to us if they see some potential in us.. that little fairy must have sensed a strong man inside you. Except to have great things soon.”
That made me pause for a while, feeling my heart warm. “If that is true then I will believe it..” it seems like a fairy’s blessing then. I felt privileged that a fairy went to me.
It means I am special.
And strong?
I don’t think so…perhaps that fairy made a mistake. To think that I just recently learned how to control it when I could see that the small children were playing around with ice shooting from their hands…
I felt a bit pathetic that the children here are more skilled than me who is a “princess”z
I am not my mother's queen after all.
Lana directed me to the market where every witch was. Some were selling and buying and in the center stage were a few witches put on a show with their tricks.
It felt so like a festival. The whole place was just full of good mood. Children laughing, everyone smiling, and the air is very light and warm. It’s making me fuzzy inside.
This is something I never felt in the werewolf realm where I only got to feel flight or flight instincts and was always in survival mode. Also, the tense atmosphere surrounding me whenever I am not with Ace…
“This is my favorite day in the whole year. We get to eat whatever we want!” Lana exclaimed excitedly and pulled me to the crowd.
There was a crowd of men marching from the woods and we paused.
“Oh, those may be from our neighboring cities.”
Lana then oggled at the sight.
“Oh, that one is handsome.” She was pointing here and there to some good looking males.
They are good-looking but I don’t find them attractive enough. They don’t even rival close to Ace.
We ate, we sing, we danced and when I felt tired, we sat.
“Are you tired already?” She then grabbed her wand and cast a spell on me.
“What was that?” I suddenly felt light to my feet, as if I didn't run around all night long.
“A spell so you can go on. The night is still young, and we haven’t seen the main event yet.” She then dragged me to an arena and sat by the middle part.
It felt like there was going to be a match soon as I saw some men training by the side. But instead of carrying a sword, they were using their spells.
Like a colosseum with gladiators.
“Hello, there my fellow Witches! Keep your wands up as we are about to start the competition!” An emcee entered and everyone cheered.
I looked at the excited faces of everyone.
Something feels wrong.
“There is a competition?”
Lana nodded, “Yes. This is the main event of the whole night! Our witch warriors are given the chance to kill all the captured werewolves here for fun. In honor of the sufferings they made us encounter.”
“What? Can you repeat what you just said?” I tried to rub my ear to make sure I heard her right.
Witches kill the werewolf here for fun?
I could feel my heartbeat pumping to my heart not from excitement but from nervousness.
“Well well well, such a lovely day for us.
First and foremost, we will start this competition with a special twist’ The queen is giving a gift to a special guest we have named Kira.”
Me? I watched closely to the center, feeling like something is wrong. I thought I would have to get my present from the queen herself privately, not like this…on the whole stage….
Just then, a man emerged from the door. I sniffed the air as my nose tingled.
I was too far from the center but his presence is too overpowering.
A familiar scent.
I instantly stood up, my eyes looking at the man who had a dead expression on his face. His whole body was covered in bruises and the only thing he was wearing was black shorts on. His whole abs were revealed.
Smells like musk and lavender with a hint of mint. And I could feel a hint of electricity.
There is no way that person is what I am seeing right now.
It’s no other than Ace! My whole legs shook, making me fall to the ground.
No way. How did he manage to enter this place?
I tried to mind link him but he seemed to not hear me…
‘Ace. It’s me. I am here.’
It must be because of the crowd and loud cheer that blocked my voice from his train of thought.
