The Rain
“I’ll sue you!” The family of the patient who died yelled. This is the first time Nyra saw that someone complained to Doctor Creed.
“Sir, we did our best.” Doctor Creed explained.
“No, if you did everything, why my child has already died! Isn’t it because we can’t afford the full payment here at your hospital? If I just knew, we wouldn’t have stayed here! I thought you were the best doctor here!”
Nyra quietly looks at the patient's father as it shouts all the painful words. The miracle is Doc Doctor Creed lets the patient’s father. He was calm and it seems like it wasn’t the first time it experienced. He knows how to fix these situations.
After Doc Doctor Creed’s discreet explanation to the patient, he went to the counter to personally pay the remaining balance the family needed to pay for the hospital.
“Just let them leave.” Doctor Creed said and left.
Nyra followed Doc Doctor Creed, “Doc, are you right?”
“Yes, I am fine.”
“But…”
“Yes? Do you think you are the only one to be here? Haha, this is just normal to me.” Doc Doctor Creed laughs as if this happens everyday for him.
Nyra saw how good Doctor Creed was, and all that she thought about the doctor was wrong.
And this is what Nyra feared. She has gradually fallen… Nyra is looking for the right time to tell Doctor Creed. Her original plan was to be asked if he could wait and wait for a long time but Nyra seems to be unable to get his doctor because he was a jerk.
A month later until the day of departure Doctor Creed’s departure to London was approaching. The entire staff will have a celebration as a farewell party. This was the right time to tell Doc Doctor Creed what she feels.
They all ate in expensive restaurants and because it’s free, all staff come together. Pure praise and admiration can be heard in the mouths of the staff about Doctor Creed. They all went away because he was one of the kind doctors who had been good at their job.
“Doc is gonna leave soon! I am so sad we won’t have a handsome and good smelling doctor!” Another joke of Nyra’s friend nurse.
“Hay, I’m not going to work until tomorrow.” Said another nurse.
They laugh and continue telling his thoughts about it.
All night, Nyra felt so emotionally unstable. Doctor Creed was sad to leave the hospital and he was going to leave far away…. But she wasn’t sure where to lead their relationship after she revealed the feeling. She had not spoken to Doc Doctor Creed because it was busy with other staff’s comfort. She sits at the end where far from all of them and quietly drinking, nervous how to say it later to Doctor Creed.
“Oh, let’s give him a parting message! You, Nyra, do you have a message to Doctor Creed?"
They got her attention suddenly.
“Oh yeah!”
Nyra felt the weight of their thoughts, waiting for her to say. In her peripheral vision she sees Doc Doctor Creed just staring at her, he quietly drinks his tequila.
She bore his lips, “Uhm…let’s raise a toast for the best doctor ever. I have not been a single year here and I am one of my new staff but my job has not been difficult.”
“Is it true? Last time I remember you were always complaining why Doc is angry with you!”
Everyone is laughing, as Nyra is ashamed but laughs.
“At first I know that I am not ready to work here. But Doc Doctor Creed became kind to me and always was willing to help me. And now I learned, thank you doc.”
Everyone is excited and drinking. Nyra looked at Doctor Creed who just smiles at her. She smiled back and returned to her food.
“You have a good message, nurse Tamira.” Another man appeared. One of her coworkers.
Nyra smiled and didn’t know what to say, “Thank you.”
He laughs, “How much did you drink? I'm tired, I'd like to go home."
“Maybe at least one cup.” Answered Nyra. She felt another wind hip. She saw Doctor Creed looking at her and snorted. Nyra’s cellphone suddenly sounded and read the message from Doctor Creed.
“At the comfort room. Now."
She saw him standing up and suddenly went to the toilet. He looks like he was angry. He nodded the comfort room and Nyra swallowed, nervous.
Nyra followed him and asked, “What’s your problem?”
“You’re talking to that man while you’re avoiding me for the whole night. I'm jealous, Nyra." Answered Doctor Creed.
“So? What should I do with you?”
He sighed, “Did you not hear? I'll leave tomorrow, Nyra, I know you'll miss me."
She was sad, they weren’t expected to fight on the night they should be happy. “I’m avoiding you tonight because I am looking for a timing to tell you that…”
“What, Nyra?”
“I like you, Creed. And I am falling. Deeper. To you.” There. She said it. She has even thought how imperfect that she has to say this in the toilet.
Doctor Creed suddenly became silent, his angry expression was replaced with smile. “Is my hearing right? Nyra?"
Nyra was alarmed, and she suddenly felt that Doc Doctor Creed embraced and kissed her lips.
“We need to leave here.” He suggested, holding her hands tightly. He directed her to his car and drove away. They arrived a few minutes at Doctor Creed’s house.
