Chapter 25
“You hunted me.” I said questioningly under my breath.
“What?” Alpha Colton asked.
The distance between us enough my whisper couldn’t be heard by them.
“You hunted me.” I repeated. My forehead scrunched and my eyes narrowed. My hands started shacking, wanting Laila here as I could feel myself becoming overwhelmed.
“It’s not like that.” Beta Lucas said quickly. His hands waving back and forth in front of him.
“You hunted me!” I growled. I could feel my words vibrating in my chest. “You hunted me down and bound me to you.” A burning rage building inside me. Molten lava filling my heart and rolling through my veins.
When I looked up at Alpha Colton through my eyebrows he immediately sat back. Both him and Beta Lucas with their backs now pressed firmly against the back of their chairs.
“No…” Alpha Colton began to speak again but before he could finish his sentence a deep roar left me. Grabbing the edge of the countertop with both hands I ripped the large granite slab from the island sending it flying. It flipped midair missing Alpha Colton and Beta Lucas’s head by inches crashing into the cabinets and smashing out half of the wall.
Sarah having been knocked backwards, her chair crashing to the ground. Rolled on her side before getting to her hands and knees. Laila!” Sarah pleaded as she pushed off ground to stand.
“Laila’s not here right now.” I growled. My lips curling up exposing my teeth as I felt them grow longer and sharper.
“Shit.” Sarah said searching for a way out.
The countertop blocking access to one door, and I stood between them and the other.
Alpha Colton stood up, walking around what remained of the island, when there was a clear path between he and I, he stopped.
I could hear the blood pumping through my veins, my skin changing with the beat like flipping through channels. My arms covered in black hair with huge claws then white to dark grey, emanating from my chest and moving outward. I could feel the transfer and feel the texture changing. Getting stronger with every beat. My attention laser focused on Alpha Colton as he straightened his posture and pushed his chest out authoritatively.
I rolled my shoulders stretching in anticipation, slowly rolling one then the other as a cat quietly stalking its prey.
“Come here.” He demanded, pointing at the floor in front of him without breaking eye contact.
Although my mouth said “NO!” defiantly, my body involuntary moved to him. Stopping less than a foot from him, my neck strained to look up at him. I growled, narrowing my eyes, the bridge of my nose wrinkling as my left upper lip pulled up further exposing my elongated canines.
“Don’t move.” He commanded.
Opening my mouth and screaming at him my voice echoing off the walls of my mind. Laila jolted awake by my screams. Raising my arms, I pounded the stone prison of my body. All my efforts in vain as my body stood frozen before him.
His right hand moving and cupping the side of my neck he lowered his head, so his lips grazed the opposite ear as he spoke. His scent flooding me as his shoulder moved within inches of my nose.
Laila began purring as his skin touched mine sending tingles down my spine.
“I claimed you before I knew what you were.” He whispered softly in my ear before pulling back and putting his face directly in mine. A sliver of his hair brushing my forehead, his blue eyes held mine. “You’re mine!” He growled. “It would serve you well to remember that.”
“Mmmmm.” Laila moaned loudly.
“You bitch!” I screamed at her.
Lounging forward, Laila smashed through Alpha Colton’s hold on us. My lips crashing into his hungrily, the heat from my veins warming my skin as her need consumed us both.
He smiled against my lips before allowing my tongue access to his deepening the kiss. His hands running down my back before running along the outline of my ass. In one swoop he lifted me off the ground, holding me at his level. The friction of my inner thighs against his waist as he pulled me into him sending chills up my body.
“Careful kitten.” Alpha Colton whispered. “My self-control is stretched to its limit as is.” His thumb gently wiping a drop of blood from my lip. One of my canines had pierced my lower lip in the commotion. “I don’t know if I could control myself the way Lucas did.” He stared at the single drop of liquid on his thumb mesmerized.
I could feel a flash of lust as he recounted me throwing the countertop. Leaning back to the length of my arms, I looked at him curiously.
“Me trashing your kitchen does it for you?” I asked mockingly.
Raising his eyebrows and shrugging his shoulders in unison was the only response I got before he placed me back on the ground.
Laila receded quickly, snapped backwards like a bungee cord jerked her into the darkest part of my mind and out of my reach.
“She has to heal Blaine.” Sarah said. The statement meet with low growls from Alpha Colton and Beta Lucas.
“I never want to see that creep again.” I blurted out. My veins heating at the thought of him. My skin again sprouting different colored hair.
“Unfortunately, it’s not really up for debate.” Sarah brushed the debris from her pants. “You are not strong enough to control your powers on your own yet and as long is Blaine is knocking on deaths door Laila is to weak to help you.”
Alpha Colton grumbled under his breath and walked out of the room. Muttering to himself the whole way.
“Just let him die.” I said in disgust.
“If only it were that simple.” Beta Lucas told me. “You are connected to him through the mate bond and now a blood bond. While you are healed, Laila still suffers Blaine’s injuries.”
“So I have to choose between helping him or losing Laila.?” I asked, the words sour in my mouth.
“For now. We will find a way to break the link between you but for now I’m afraid we don’t have any other option.” Beta Lucas said.
