Chapter 27
POV Omega Gavin
Walking to the far West boarder I came to the hollowed-out tree. Removing the bag that I had hidden there. I removed my contacts and placed them in their case. Stripping off my close I placed them in the bag before stuffing it back into the tree trunk.
I needed to run; I couldn’t stop the distain from building up.
It had been five years since I heard anything from the King. After warning them of Alpha Eric and Beta Darien’s hastiness to speak with Alpha Dante. Then Raymond’s failed attempt at apprehending the girl when I released him from the jail I waited for the new plan. How was I supposed to know that Miss Evens would risk exposing herself to save that girl?
I had wondered if she was another of the Kings spies sent here to make sure I did my job. There is no doubt now that she is not an ally to the King.
I returned to the mansion to find it empty. Everything gone. The King has forsaken me, I have been abandoned.
It isn’t my fault Raymond was incapable of abducting one helpless child. My plan worked flawlessly; the dogs so arrogant as to think they could capture one of us. Brought Raymond right into the territory but Miss Evens, that bitch ruined it.
I’m left here with these filthy muts, walking around trying to be humans. Living the petty small lives of peasants.
My only comfort found in torturing the girl. The very reason we came out from hiding was because of the Kings obsession with possessing this girl. How could anyone think a mutt werewolf was going to rule the Lycans is beyond me.
To what destroy one pack and kill the Beta and future Alpha of another and give up.
I ran until I came to a small creek, my own sweat wreaked of that disgusting bitch mate of mine. Always with her hands on me like a leach. Pawing at me making my skin crawl.
Shifting letting my Lycan out he stretched out his limbs and shook his fur. After a while he laid down in the water. Letting it flow past us the vial stench getting washed away.
I rested dreaming of home. The stone walls where elegant tapestries and paintings hung. The crackling fire in the hearth filling the room with soft light. My servants scurrying about like little mice, too afraid to look in my direction.
The waters soothed my angry soul. The King has a plan for me, I’m sure of it.
A twig snapping in the forest behind me made me abruptly turn in that direction.
“We’ve been here too long.” My Lycan grumbled.
I protested but I knew he was right. We couldn’t risk being caught. Not that any of them could take us on but still our cover needs to remain intact. Shifting back, I heard another noise coming from the same direction.
We decided to check it out before heading back. Walking around in the general area the noise came from finding nothing out of the ordinary we started the long walk back to the tree. I could shift and run or just run but the closer I got to the hiding spot the slower I walked. Every step moving me closer to everything I hated.
Once again, I heard something. A rustling in the bushes behind me. Eager to put off my return I went to check it out. Nothing but a few rabbits who scurried off when I found them.
A strange smell hit me, I decided to put off my arrival as long as possible and followed the smell. Twenty minutes went by walking in different directions, the smell getting no closer it seemed to surround me.
Finally admitting defeat, the sun was setting, and I didn’t care to drudge back in the dark.
When I made my way back the spot in the tree was empty. Reaching my arm in until I could feel the bottom. I know I put it back, I’m always careful. Looking around I see the silhouette of my bag against a tree several yards away.
I complained the entire time I was getting dressed. I’m so sick of all this.
The things I’ve had to endure to serve my King and what reward do I get. Being forgotten amongst the sewage of existence.
Sitting in the grass next to the tree I placed Eve back into the bag and placed it back in its spot.
Another noise behind me, this one is close. I sneak my way over to where the sound came from this time. Rounding the tree, I see two large footprints in the dirt behind the tree.
I knew someone was watching me. They made a mistake messing with me. I hope it’s the girl, I would love nothing more than to make her disappear in the woods.
Following the footprints back around to the tree with the bag. I’m confused before turning around a shadow lurking over me I look up and I gasp. “But you’re dead!”
