That Is The Last One

Morning came and there had been more news about the demon wolves attacking anyone they see, it had put Arcadia in a difficult position as her people came t her begging for help, seeking protection from their Queen.

But everything was amiss.

Xerxes and Octavia had gone to investigate the matter and were attacked by a few wolves but made it out as she used her powers to defend the both. It was a side of Octavia he had never seen and she had a lot of explaining to do; majority dating back to her past.

She had to set up charms to ward off the demon wolves with the scent of roses which they found offensive, it was the major reason they kept attacking the town as most of the people living in it were of the rose clan.

"That is the last one." She ties it gently to the biggest tree and she runs the sweat off her brow, she feels dizzy for a while but her husband is behind her to catch her, "thank you so much, it's been a while since I did this." She laughs sheepishly before sitting down underneath the shade of the tree,

"Octavia I feel we have things to talk about." He joins her and she rests her head on his shoulder,

"Go on." It was obvious that the first question he was going to ask her was how she knew all of this and was doing this. But he surprises her,

"Have you eaten today?" That one came as a surprise but she nods gently, "I do not want Arcadia to be marked by Mace." It was hushed and she smiles a little,

"Magnus said the same thing, he wanted to be the only one to mark me but look at what happened." A small laugh from her, "I don't think we are in control of what happens Xerxes, in the end we are just the Goddess's toys." A sigh from her.

"We can control some parts of our lives Octavia, we didn't stay away from each other even though what we were doing was wrong. I think we should kill Mace." It was too bitter coming from him,

"Hmm? And where is all this resentment coming from darling?" She sits up to examine him properly, "if we kill him the our daughter would be mate-less! What are you telling me now?" She goes back to her resting position with a cute pout in her face, "are you jealous that if Mace decides to turn a new leaf that Arcadia would forget you?" She lightens up the situation but he wasn't buying it.

"You know why I'm saying so, but you won't understand," he rolls his eyes at her but he couldn't be annoyed with her, her approach to the conversation was just a gentle reminder that she didn't want to talk about it, for now.

The sound of galloping is heard and they turn to see a magenta wolf running at an incredible speed, she stops and in her mouth is the head of a demon wolf, she sits back and Sheila is bloodied to a horrifying extent,

"My queen, your charms work quiet well, they don't resurrect back when they have been killed," she drops the head on the ground and tries to get some blood off her, "this should be distributed to the people to use to defend themselves. I will tell the soldiers to make extra camps here so the town would be heavily guarded."

"And Asher?" The king inquires as he hadn't seen his student all day,

"Queen Arcadia has told him to protect other areas since there has been news of attack there, he is currently heading towards the South to make sure the land we claimed from battle is safe." She kicks the head of the demon wolf and Octavia catches it on instinct,

"It's good to see that the charms are very effective." She examines the head and smiles, she pokes it at Xerxes and mimics a deep growl, shaking the wolf's head playfully, "eat me!!" She jokes but she pushes it away from him making her laugh.

Sheila turns back to have some young girls whisper something into her ears, she nods and follows them,

"Sheila seems way better now, she isn't puking around all the time, do you think Loki's hand is in this?" She gives a toothy grin but Xerxes is still deep in thought, "honestly I don't know what i was thinking when I picked Czar as my servant, he can not do anything right without messing it up. I wonder how Mace survived with him."

"I suspect him, most of the times he is nowhere to be seen and he appears out of nowhere looking like he has stolen something. We should be very cautious of him, I have a feeling he is plotting something, he could be the one behind the attacks."

"You are right, I should put a tracker on him to know his exact movements," so much work. She always got the most troublesome people to deal with.

"I strongly advise it, the last time I saw him he was searching for something in your library, he must have believed he was alone." Her eyes bulge from their sockets,

"My library?!"

"Yes your library, he didn't find anything so he left, I had a feeling he went back to continue his search, he might have sensed I was watching him from a corner as he suspiciously became more alert." He examines his blade but his discovery had put a frown on her face,

"I will look into that; how dare he without my permission?" Irked to the core she didn't know when she started glowing,

"Calm down Octavia, you are always quick to anger, you need to learn how bw more like me." Sativa chuckles as she made her way to the couple, moving slowly with her wooden cane.

Octavia laughs heartily, "you know me more than anyone, but unfortunately I was built with the fire inside of me." She jests and nudges Xerxes by the side, he rolls his eyes with a smile on his face,

"You are more of your mother." He finally reaches them and sits in front of them with her legs crossed, "I have come to discuss the events that have been happening." Her look goes grim,

"And you know who is behind it?" Xerxes is quick to figure this puzzle and kill anyone that was causing so much trouble for his daughter.

"I'm not entirely sure, but what I saw were three cloaked men, I didn't see their faces but they should be the ones behind this evil. Octavia it seems you will have to fight again, but you are aged, I suggest you talk to Arcadia about how to wield the Goddess's powers effectively."

"I have been thinking 9f the same thing too sage, but Arcadia is so busy with the affairs of the kingdom, it would be hard for her to handle everything." She states her concern,

"Well we would have to support her whatever way we can, when she is training with you I can takeover." His words shock her but she is proud of him, knowing Xerxes he never believed he was made for the throne even though it was his destiny to be king. He still never fancied the whole king thing and often stuck to the duties of a Master to Asher and Sheila, but seeing him ready to take the wheel for his daughter was heart warming.

"You finally grew bones." Sativa jokes and he didn't like it, "would you address the issue today?" She is talking to Octavia, she nods in affirmation, "I guess my work is done here." She lifts herself off the ground though unsteady, "I will still discuss things with you Octavia, when you return to the palace." And she begins the journey again, all the way back.

"She's such a strange woman." Xerxes comments as she walking away, it was quiet a walk but she did so to get some exercise.

"According to my mother no one believed she would become a sage, or be highly favored by the goddess. She was always different." She smiles at him, "and as for me? I'm just a timeless part of history."

"Care to share? Since you never mentioned it." He smirks at her,

"It was dark and I didn't feel the need to being things that would hurt me only more." She intertwines her fingers with his, "and I know Arcadia would go through the same thing, I always knew it would be this way the moment she reaches her age of awakening."

A body drops in front of them and their favorite assassin is clean but wet, she looked like she had fun, "I'm ready to listen to the story!!" And they laugh at each other.
