Chapter 31
"But I wanna walk to the forest all alone, Sam."
Her big brother had opened his mouth to respond, but a loud, hair-raising scream had pierced through the open air that was once full of welcoming peace. Sam quickly pulled Allie into his arms before looking up at the commotion, her hair falling in front of her eyes as she found her vision being directed on her parents.
There, in the middle of the camp, where her parents were earlier gathering some water from the well, was a large man. The omega couldn't tell what he looked like because the man was dressed in all black, but he looked as if he was pulled out from the medieval era and thrown into the present. He wore all black armour with a large, black cape that drifted from his shoulders and to the middle of his calves.
Every other pack member started to panic, retreating far from the well, their screams echoing and eyes wide with terror as they scooped up their pups and ran off into the nearby trees. Allie watched with horror as the man swung his arms around her, kicking mother, and hoisted her above his shoulder. She banged her fists against the back of his armour and yelled out for help.
"Mom!" Allie's voice cracked as she tried to run towards her, but Sam hugged her tight against his chest.
Tears streamed down her cheeks, and she choked. "Let me go."
"They'll kill you. I can't lose you too," Her brother cried as she tried to struggle.
Allie managed to breath out as she watched her father fling himself at the attacker. She had a feeling deep down that there wasn't going to be any way to save his mother. Her father was big, but the man that stood before him was larger. He was more significant than a werewolf alpha, but from his scent, she could tell that the man was a Hell hound. One that wasn't scared enough to storm through an entire camp and attack her sweet, loving mother.
"We have to help."
Sam made a noise at the back of his throat. "No, we have to hide."
He quickly tugged her back against the vines hung from a large, wooden barn away from the camp. The omega struggled against him, her arms coming to wrap around her brother before she silently cried into his shirt. The screams of the others were still echoing throughout the open air and beating at her eardrums. But Allie couldn't care. All she wanted was for her parents to be safe.
"Let go of her!" Her father screamed at the Hell hound, but his strength was nothing compared to the other. He flung a punch at the mans back, but it only seemed to aggravate him without any movement. She watched as her father's lips move in a curse, blood dripping from his mouth. "Please! Leave her alone! I won't let you take her!"
"But you will," The man roared out load as he swung around, his hand striking at her father's throat.
Allie flinched, terror gripping her insides as she watched the man lift her father off the ground with one hand. Her father kicked and grabbed at the man's wrist, but no prevail; he was too weak compared to the Hell hound. She was shocked at the strength that a Hell hound could contain.
The omega wanted to jump out and save her parents, but the tight grip of her brother stilled her.
"Please, Sam"
"Do you remember what father said?"
Allie sniffled, "Y-Yes."
Those words rang in her ear, loud and clear as a day. She was so confused when they uttered to her every single day since she started training. The omega thought that it must be a routine line or something only to understand the meaning later.
"Don't be a hero for us, be a hero for each other and run," Allie repeated it, throat clogging up with emotion as she thought about it. Her mother would be by her side, asking her to repeat those words. They were the only words she ever needed to know to survive. That's what they said.
Sam rubbed her back. "Exactly. So we have to leave."
She closed her eyes and tried her best to breath in the fresh air, but the omega began to shake and cry as Sam tried to rush away. Her body jerked with sobs and whines, and Allie knew that if they waited any longer, both would witness the death of their father and possibly their mother.
Her brother understood her inner turmoil, so he reassured her and secured them away from the scene. They wanted to remember their parents as a happy memory and not have the vision of them dying flash through their eyes every time they closed them.
So Allie ran. She ran with her brother, clinging by his side. The omega ran till her tears dried out, until she could no more breathe.
Even at such a tender age, she knew that at this moment in her life, she couldn't ever be the same. Allie had to be courageous and protect both of them against creatures more than twice their size. Moreover, live in a world without their parents.

"Allie? His voice jolted her back to reality, and she blinked.
"Back to earth, please!"
"Sorry"
The omega couldn't believe that he was standing in front of her after all these months of silence. They mainly communicated through the phone, being cautious about being seen together. Naturally, after that attack on their pack, they were separated and put into different homes. It was challenging, but they managed to make it work under the same leadership and within walking distance.
Sam graduated and went on to study MBA in the best possible school. He was successful and managed to create a name for himself. The next step was to conceal their identity; Sam took extra measures to change their surnames. Just in case someone came looking after them.
After all, those years later, both siblings had a deep-rooted hatred for Hellhounds and their kind, especially Alphas, for killing their parents. That's why Allie trained herself to become an assassin, hunt every single one of them till she finds the responsible one and punishes him. Her brother knew all about her assignments, being the one heading them after all. Sam was the one sponsoring her education, being older than her and more accomplished.
"What are you doing here?" She whispered, looking around even though they were the only ones in the room. So what if she's a bit paranoid at his sudden arrival?
Sam clenched his jaw. "I'll ask questions here. Where the hell have you been? Do you know that I've been looking over for you?"
The omega snorted. "Trust me, I've heard. You can't do that, Sam! People will get suspicious, and your men spooked my roommate. How am I going to explain that to her?"
Her brother lazily leaned against the wall, annoyance clear on his face. She had never seen him so out of it before. Whatever happened to that calm, composed and relaxed omega? That's right. Her brother was an omega, just like her. Something was wrong if he had taken all that trouble to sneak into her dorm room.
"Those were not my men, and your roommate is the least of our problems at the moment."
"What's going on?"
"Someone found out about our operation."
Her eyes widened as those words sank in. Allie cursed under her breath, her hands making their way to tug at the loose strands of her hair. "How?! We were so careful! I don't even have your number saved on my phone. Shit!"
Dread settled in the pit of her stomach. She can't die. Not so soon. Also, not when she's carrying Nates baby, who will have several hundred questions for her. Allie cringed at that. She didn't tell him about her operation at all.
The omega began to pace around the room, her lip in between her teeth. "What are we going to do now?"
"Will you let me finish?" Her brother sighed.
"Then talk!"
Sam shook his head and made her sit in front of him. "Calm down. Take a breath."
"Sam—"
"Please"
She sucked a sharp breath and blinked back at him.
"The Crescent pack found out about us last week. I killed a Hellhound in their territory. They were impressed and want to recruit both of us."
“Both of us?”
Realisation dawned on her. The reason that Alpha came to Nates packhouse to find her was to save her. Not that she needed any kind of saving from that Hellhound pack. Surprisingly none of them attempted to try anything, always smiling at her. Maybe because she’s with Nate.
Allie gaped at the information. "Recruit?"
Her brother rubbed his face in annoyance. “Yeah, they want us to kill Hellhounds as their pack members. They will provide us with everything we need, but they will choose the targets."
"Fuck!"
