Chapter 34
It was sunny outside. Her roommate decided to attend her classes and then swing by her work which left Allie all alone.
Deciding on taking a shower to freshen up a little the omega got off the bed and stretched her back leisurely. The cramps would be the end of her but probably nothing to worry about according to Finn.
The omega felt weirdly numb, not able to distinguish a specific emotion. Before, she had been upset and agitated, concerned all the time. Now, everything felt pleasantly calm and still, like a veil of indifference had fallen over her. She honestly wasn't complaining. It was the first time in weeks that Allie was able to relax in her apartment.
She was trying to wrap her mind with everything going on around her. Maybe Allie needed this, this distance from all the people she was constantly surrounded with. With a sigh, the omega strode to the bedroom for a second, searching for some comfortable clothes to wear after her bath and for her iPad as well, just to put on some relaxing music.
Allie managed to get into the tub and let the hot water cleanse her skin; she realised how good it always had been to take some time off. Not do anything except listen to slow music and enjoy the fresh soapy scent taking over the entire room.
She was rather abruptly torn out of his daydreams when her mobile phone began to ring and vibrate in the other room. Oh no!
Why didn't the omega turn the stupid thing off? Cursing under her breath, she got out of the bathtub and answered the call.
"Sam?"
"So you remember how to answer the phone?"
She rolled her eyes at his bland sarcasm. Not in the mood to hear anything from him at all. Allie was trying very hard might she add to forget about her brothers fuck up. Also, the fact that he had no idea about her pregnancy. It only made her feel guilty every time they talk.
"Why did you call me?"
His sigh was evident from the other side. "Relax. I'm using a payphone. Meet me at my hotel in fifteen minutes. We got an assignment."
Dread settled in her stomach. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she managed to croak out. "Already?"
"Yeah. See you soon."
"Wait—" He hung up before she could complete her sentence. The omega slumped her head against the wall. Now she had to kill some Hellhound under orders.
Fucking great! Allie whispered under her breath. Just when she thought that the day started mellow and pleasant.

Once outside the room, Allie knocked on the door exactly three times. Their secret code. Within a minute, Sam opened the door as if he stood on the other side of it. She whistled, stepping inside and gawking at the interior.
Sam got a room with a view of the skyline, a large-sized balcony with fake grass on it and two chairs along with the table. That was all Allie could ask for. She let herself fall back onto the bed, which was surprisingly comfy and dipped under her weight. Allie found the remote on the nightstand, and she turned on the TV to some cooking show.
"Why are you not wearing suppressants?"
Allie's face flushed at that. She thought that her brother might let it slip. It was difficult not being able to rely on them, but Finn advised her to stop.
"You said its a Hellhound. So I thought it might be easier for us to track him."
"That's crazy!" Sam narrowed his eyes at her, huffing under his breath. "But also clever."
She shrugged. "Only trying to help."
"You sure that's the only reason?"
"Yes," Allie made a face and immediately changed the topic. "How come you get to stay in a five-star room, and I don't?"
"Maybe because you already have a room in this city."
"Fair enough", She hummed, leaning back. "Did they pay for this room?"
Sam slumped beside her. "Yeah. Can't complain."
Allie bobbed her head. Who in the right mind would even complain after getting such a luxurious room? She wouldn't have minded living like this, actually but now, with the baby on the way, the thought repulsed her.
"What's the mission?"
"Track him down and kill him" Sam handed the photo to her.
Allie stared at the picture, her eyes narrowing at the jersey he was sporting. It looked similar. "Who's he?"
"Jake Brown. Alpha Hellhound. Football Captain for D.Campers. Typical jerk, frat boy."
She stopped breathing for a second. Those descriptions matched the Alphas child she's carrying, and suddenly it felt too real. Killing someone who mirrored Nates profile made her such a sharp breath. It could have been him. And that thought made her stomach clench.
Ever since the time she visited the Hellhounds packhouse and talked with them, taking their lives didn't sit right with her. Especially now that she's carrying part of them.
"What did he do?"
Sam looked at her like she'd grown another head. "Why does it matter?"
"Because we are talking about killing him, Sam. We should at least, know the reason."
"That never stopped you before." Her brother shrugged. "Besides, they don't answer our questions."
"We did not kill the innocent ones if that's what you are implying. Only the people who worked for that Alpha who ki—attacked our mom and dads are dead."
Sam took her hand in his, eyes pulled together, and his voice softer than usual. "Look, Allie, try to understand. We will finally have a pack—someone to call family after all these years. Don't overthink it. Besides, if he's innocent, they wouldn't have asked us to kill him."
Her heart twisted painfully by the time he's done talking. The omega was aware that her brother always wanted to be a pack member than a rogue. They were alone for more than a decade, left to feed themselves and move from home to home, never belonging to a place. Now that he had the chance, of course, Sam would do anything for it.
"Yeah, you're right" Allie nervously licked her lips. "Let's do this."

The moment they sneaked into the party, Nate and Alina dodged the other people and swiftly reached the bar. Both of them had no lead but information that Allan loved parties and omegas. They figured to hit the clubs nearby and then take him out.
Once inside, it hit her that she couldn't consume alcohol. She cursed under her breath. Now her brother will figure out something's wrong.
"Wow! This place is packed."
"Tell me about it," She sighed, roaming her eyes around the room.
Her brother leaned back against the bar, his eyes narrowing towards the dance floor. He shook his head and turned to face her. "How will we find this hound? The scents are so strong it's making me nauseous."
Alina was seconds away from throwing up. Her nose was susceptible, and add to that the withdrawals from suppressants. Its hell. She was physically experiencing it, her vision a little blurry from all the smog in the air.
"Maybe we should split."
"Hmm, I think so too. Do you have your phone on you?"
Her hands immediately went to the pocket of her jumpsuit. She nodded her head, still reeling from the heavy, thick scent taking over her body. The bartender placed two glasses of neat whiskey in front of them with a wink. A shudder racked through her as she stared at the liquid.
"Be careful", Sam whispered in her ear as he gulped the whiskey in one go. She winced at his breath but nodded her head, trying not to touch her glass.
She's not an alcoholic or anything, but both the siblings relied on alcohol to forget. It's not easy to kill someone and carry the guilt around, which is why the whiskey. Things seemed easier and one dimensional.
"Get me a glass of Diet Coke, please", Alina whispered, slumping on the bar stool. Maybe it's the low blood sugar. She needed to drink something and then get back to her hunt.
The sudden presence of someone on her right had her stilling slightly. The heavy scent of pine, vanilla, and the slightest bit of dark chocolate made her omega whine. She turned her head to meet the eyes of an Alpha only to freeze on her spot.
Its Nate.
"Allie?"
She swallowed thickly, suddenly hot all over. "Hi"
A thrum of anticipation ran through her body, zinging through and getting stronger when he leaned in closer, opening his mouth. She pressed her thighs together, her hands clammy and throat dry. She wanted him to ravage her—a gush of slick stained her panties at those vulgar thoughts.
The Alpha growled as if he heard those dirty thoughts, hands curled into fists by his side. "I can smell you."
Blushing profusely, she tucked loose strands of her hair behind. "I'm not wearing any suppressants."
Before he could ask anything, someone shouted from behind. They both jumped, turning around to see another frat boy who seemed a mixture of pissed and panicked. "Nate, we need you! Now"
"What are you doing here?"
I could ask the same, she thought to herself.
Allie opened her mouth to answer, but the guy gestured impatiently, and Nate sighed before loping off. "I'll be back. This is not over yet!"
