Chapter 36
Allie felt jittery all day, unable to distract herself from classes now that she's on break and not knowing what to do. Nate asked her to spend his rut. Alphas tended to enjoy their ruts very much, counting down the days until they could get off work and spend the next few days with omega to satisfy their needs.
Relief washed over her when Rachel and Ashton suggested they go to the cinema. Still, even then, she spent the majority of the movie tapping her fingers against the armrest, leftover salt from the popcorn they devoured during previews sticking to her tongue, every fidget too loud for the quietness of the theatre.
No matter how much the omega tried to pay attention, Allie walked onto the street, having remembered little of anything, listening to her friends chatter about the movie. She couldn't stop thinking. A lot of things, actually.
The Jake thing was on the forefront of her mind all the time, bothering her. She had to find a way to put a hold onto the entire thing but without Sam finding out. Just thinking about it didn't sound easy.
How was she going to pull it off?
Before that, she had to talk with Sam and explain her upcoming week plans. Lie to him again. It's only for his sake. Allie had no idea how he would react to her news, and she had no intention of finding that any sooner.
After the movie, she went to see her brother in his hotel room.
"Allie?"
"We need to talk."
He groaned. "I already apologised for pulling that stunt. What more do you want?"
The omega cringed at the mention of that. She slid in next to him, trying not to ponder over the incident, especially Nates words. It would only make her feel guilty.
"It's not that", She sighed. "I'm going away for a week."
Sam sat up, his eyes wide. "What?! Where? You cant leave in the middle of the mission."
Allie swallowed loudly, eyes focused elsewhere. "It's urgent. I have a week-long project, and the Professor is expecting me to lead the other students. Sorry"
"Oh"
"Sorry. I tried convincing him"
Her brother made a sound, shaking his head. "No! No! I get it. Yours thing sounds important. Don't worry. I'll try to track that hound all on my own"
The breath knocked out of her lungs at that. She was trying to avoid that at any cost. Sam would get caught in her absence, and once they find out about his identity, it's over. For both of them.
"No"
"Excuse me?"
"Sam, you almost got caught once. They will recognise your scent. Please do not try anything until I'm back."
"But—"
"Please", She rasped, turning towards him.
Sam heaved a sigh, settling against his pillows and turning his attention to the television. Annoyance was evident in his face. "Fine"
"You promise?"
"Yeah"

The following week found Allie standing in front of her wardrobe for an excessive amount of time; she realised, with nerves collecting in the pit of her stomach, that she had no idea what to wear. There was no telling what the omega would be wearing, whether her outfit would consist of junky clothes or something nicer.
Usually, for arrangements like this, there was an unspoken rule to dress comfortably because all clothing would be removed soon, anyway. Then again, Nates rut wouldn't begin for a few hours, meaning she had those hours of transparency to worry about everything, including her decision between jeans and sweats.
In the end, they decided that it was better to meet after dinner, right when his rut was going to start. Arriving earlier would be more preferable, but Allie took too much time packing her bag and selecting her lingerie.
She showed up to the frat house at eight in the evening, her hair damp from a quick shower while dressed in leggings and a thin cotton shirt. They were going to be ripped anyway.
Just like before, she took the balcony route, cradling her barely-there bump before stepping towards his room. Allie knocked on the door gently.
"Hi," She breathed, the door swinging open from Nates hand.
The Alpha stood on the other side in joggers, a black tee and his loose curls brushing against his forehead.
"Uh, hey," Nate greeted after a moment too long, opening the door wide. His voice sounded rough, another effect of his impending rut. It immediately became overwhelming even when she was still standing in the hallway. "Welcome to my, uh, room."
"Come in."
She brushed past him, walking into his room with a sort of confidence other typical omegas didn't tend to possess.
"Thanks," The omega replied belatedly, cringing at her awkwardness.
"I'll lock the door," Nate said firmly, voice low and gritty. She bit back a shiver, eyes averting towards the knob to make sure it's secure. Once he began walking towards her, she met his eyes to see them rake over her figure. His pupils were dilated, and gaze hooded.
"Umm...Hi," Allie cleared her throat, a bit awkward as she toed at the floorboard. The omegas did this kind of thing with someone before. It made her feel out of her element; nerves clawing their way up her throat.
"Hi," Nate parroted, looking amused. He patted the bed beside him, not once moving his attention from the omega. "Come lay down with me."
She dropped her bag near his desk and slowly approached the bed. At that, the Alpha settled in his bed and shut his eyes, head tilting back until a few stray curls were flopping down onto his forehead from where they're normally pushed back. Allie quietly crawled onto the bed and laid down a foot from the Alpha, not wanting to be the one to initiate contact since Nates the one who needed it.
The Alpha didn't hesitate before reaching out and grasping the hem of her loose shirt. He tugged gently, mumbling, "Come closer. I don't bite."
"Not yet", He replied teasingly.
Allie obliged, carefully resting her head on his chest right and placing a timid hand on his side, fingers curling into the fabric cautiously. Nates arms enveloped her around her waist and shoulders, and then he's burying his face into her scent gland, groaning deep in her throat.
The omega shivered, his intoxicating scent even more overwhelming than before. She's still nervous, but much less so now that Nates touching her.
"You smell so good," He whispered hoarsely as he nuzzled into his skin unashamedly. "Fuck."
The cold tip of his nose brushed along her throat and nipped down at her pulse, making a whine fall from her lips. She hissed, looking away, and Nate pressed his smirk into the now pink skin.
The Alphas lips were driving her crazy, toes curled around, and her hands bunching the bed-sheet. She tried not to shy away at her exposed neck as Nate greedily sucked a red bruise onto her collarbone, prominent and unavoidable.
He's stalking a claim.
The thought caused her stomach to clench.
"Is it starting soon?" Allie inquired breathlessly, trying to distract herself. She suppressed another whine when he bit down on her neck, a low growl rumbling in his throat.
"Soon," Nate huffed vaguely. Then he's tightening his grip around her and rolling them over. Allie stifled her yelp and bit her lip as the Alpha leaned over, his forearms bracketing her head unyieldingly.
"What are you majoring in?"
The omega rolled her eyes, shuddering as she released a small wave of slick. "You already know, given you spoiled my classes before."
"Amuse me."
"Are we playing 20 questions now?"
"I'm just trying to make some conversation before I bend you over and fuck you. It's the polite thing to do," Nate drawled, almost petulant. "And you didn't ask me back."
Her face went red at the mental image. She scoffed. "But I know already"
"Then ask me something else."
"Okay," She drawled, folding her lips together. "Got one! What's your dream- football or business?"
"Football first," He said easily. "That's what I want my career to be, but since I have to major in something, I figured I might as well choose something I like."
She hummed, "Do you play any instrument-?"
Allie hissed when Nate bit down on her neck again, soothing the burn with his tongue. Fortunately not near the bond mark. He gave her major feral and possessive vibes, but she wasn't complaining.
"Guitar," The Alpha murmured in her skin.
"Ah! So cliche," She mused, an easy smile on her lips.
Nate pulled back and met her eyes. "What, should I learn the accordion next?"
"That'd be more interesting, yeah," Allie replied, to which Nate bit her earlobe, sharp and teasing.
"Geez, calm down, Alpha."
It was meant to be condescending, but Nate stiffened, growling low in his throat. Allie swallowed thickly, blinking at the sudden outbreak in pheromones. She shuddered, arousal pumping through her veins as the realisation dawned on her.
Nate slipped in his rut.
