Chapter 42
Allie couldn't believe her ears. How did they come to this? Months ago, she was content doing her job along with her brother. They both targeted the Hellhounds and finished the job with ease. No one bothered them.
It seemed like in a matter of months; her entire life turned upside down. She's pregnant with a Hellhounds baby, found her Alpha, but they don't live together, and now someone wants to kill her. Granted, they had a reason to be angry, but this was not what she expected from the Crescent Pack.
The omegas hand instinctively cradled her belly, swallowing the lump in her throat. "What are we going to do?"
Sam threw his head back again. "Do our job, I guess."
Allie couldn't help but recall the devastated look on Nates face, his sobs piercing her ear and causing goosebumps to rise all over the body. She didn't want to be the reason behind that pain anymore. Holding him and sharing his sorrow while he repeatedly called out for his friend broke something inside her.
The omega had enough of this life. She didn't want to be a killer anymore. Her baby shouldn't be bought into a world like this. Moreover, the Pack they were messing with seemed dangerous enough to do the job on their own. What if they harmed people close to
her as a punishment?
"No", She croaked out, her lips pressed in a thin line.
Her brother snapped his head at her. Sam blinked at her like he didn't believe her simple response. "What?"
"I said no, Sam. We are not going to do this anymore."
Sam gawked at her for few seconds, shaking his head. "What has gotten into you?"
Allie looked away. She was unable to answer him the real reason behind her decision. Now it's Jake. Someday they could target Nate. After all, he's a werewolf as well. And if she refused to do the work, they may take it into their own hands. The omega didn't want to have any more blood in her hands.
"Believe me, Sam. These are not the kind of people we should be getting involved with. It's not too late for us to find a decent pack."
Sam sighed. "But—"
"They may kill us too, Sam." Her voice cracked. "If we don't act as they want, we would be dead. Does that not scare you?"
"It does, but we don't have a choice here."
Allie sucked a sharp breath. "Then we will make one."

They decided to visit the Crescent Pack and meet their Alpha. She was ready to do anything that may get them off the hook. Both of them could live their life without being attached to that pack. After all, they were fine before. Nothing would change.
It took them an hour from the hotel to reach the pack house. As expected, it was built in the middle of nowhere. Too close to the woods with large fences around the building.
They passed the security and stepped inside the large oak door.
Once inside, Sam and Allie stood at the bottom of a large staircase, their eyes glaring at the space where two wooden doors were propped open. The omega couldn't help but stare at the freshly painted white and with brown-tinted windows.
Her attention focused back on the staircase had three large steps leading up to the doors, and on either side, tall bushes of grass.
As soon as they took a step forward, someone halted them at the doorstep.
Allie gawked at the person, her mouth agape as the warrior met her eyes. His silver belt shone against the light in the room, the equally shiny armour making her nervous. She didn't think that the guards would be roaming around with such heavy armour on their body.
Then again, the pack house was housing more than a hundred wolves at the same time.
"State your name and business."
Sam nudged her.
Allie cleared her throat. "I am Allie, and this is my brother, Sam. We want to see the Pack Alpha."
"Follow me."
She was in a trance-like state, simply dragging her feet along the stairs. Her eyes were focused on the doorframe; body relaxed, mouth hanging open a little.
Candles were lining the stairs, providing a warm glow in the room. Large paintings of Werewolves were apparent everywhere her eyes could take. Most of them were graphic, werewolves killing other species. So from what she witnessed in Nates pack house. Those were atleast ancient and mild, depicting their history.
She had a feeling that these paintings were made out of spite, purely to depict that the werewolves were of greater power. The thought would have pleased her before, but now it only annoyed her. Since when did the werewolves become so self-centred and egotistical?
Finally, they were guided to the study room, where a shirtless man hunched over in the aisle between the seats. His body leaned forward to look at papers spread all around him and on the floor. She noticed the two Alpha guards standing behind him right away.
The Alphas dark brown hair covered his face, making it impossible for her to get a peek of him. His smell hit Allie, strong musk along with spicy cinnamon.
She stopped midway from the Alpha, her brother doing the same beside her. Her eyes zoned into the pack soldier as he made his way towards the sitting man.
"Leader," The soldier cleared his throat, his hands tied behind him. "Two omegas are here to see you."
The Pack Alpha didn't answer the soldier, just continued to reach across for papers and scribble something down. She watched the muscles in his back ripple under his skin, and his back looked drenched in sweat due to the candles.
Suddenly the omega became aware of the hot air in the room. Beads of sweat trickled down her forehead, and she wiped it, her eyes still trained on the Alpha.
"Alpha, they want to speak with you," The soldier tried again.
The Alpha raised his head at the soldier, but he hadn't yet noticed Sam and Allie, who stood halfway in the aisle. That's when she was able to see his face. He was in his late forties, judging by his sides' deep wrinkles, eyes hollow and sharp, the silver hair in his brow and hair.
"What about?" He asked, his voice deep and rumbled in his chest.
"It's urgent", The omega answered.
The Alpha met her eyes. His gaze pierced her as he sat silently. Now that she was facing the man, Allie saw the hardened look on his face; a shiver ran down her spine. She was intimidated by him, and it's only been few minutes since they met.
"Oh, Sam!" His face broke out in a smile. "You must be his sister then."
"I am Allie", The omega hummed. "And you're the Pack Leader?"
"Correct. My name is Harold White."
She didn't know what to say after. The omega nodded her head respectfully to the Alpha, her eyes set on the carpet below. Harold raised his hand, his finger motioning for Allie to come closer.
This is it. The omega muttered under her breath before taking a step forward.
"Come here."
Allie obeyed. She was fast to do so, which made her wonder if it was just her inner wolf reacting to the powerful Alpha. When she neared closer, the Alpha gathered his papers and lifted himself. He ultimately towered over both Sam and Allie; his frame built solid and muscular.
He wasn't as tall as she expected him to be. Harold was lean and framed well, his body just screaming power behind it. Two soldiers immediately came behind him.
"I have heard a lot about you, Pure Omega."
The way he said it, drawled out those words made her skin crawl in disgust. Her wolf was not her only identity. Unfortunately, it seemed like that's all they care about.
Allie forced a weak smile on her face, nodding along.
"What can I do for you today?"
From the corner of her eyes, she stared at Sam, who was quiet all of a sudden. He expected her to talk on behalf of both of them. And here, she thought that he'd be of some help. A sigh slipped out of her lips.
"We don't want to do this anymore."
The Alpha raised his brow. "This meaning?"
"We don't want to kill anymore. Please"
Harold turned his lips at that, taking a step further in her direction. That didn't deter her at all. She met his eyes daringly.
The Alpha began sniffing the air, his eyes closed for few seconds. "Mhm, what's that scent I smell on you?"
Her face turned red at that. She immediately looked away, trying to finds words to make up a lie. How can she be so stupid? Allie barged in, smelling like Nate, a Hellhound.
"It is my friend's scent—"
Harold smirked, blinking innocently. "Is that the same friend whose baby you are carrying?"
