#688 - Gwen Spider is captured by Steppenwolf
Before Gwen could finish speaking, the thugs' accomplices continued to attack her.
A smirk played on Gwen's lips as she flicked her wrist, sending a web accurately towards the leading thug.
"First."
As Gwen spoke, she pulled hard.
Before the thug could react, he was yanked into the air by the web, crashing heavily into a lamppost with a "thud" and losing consciousness.
The second thug seized the opportunity to attack from the side, the sharp blade glinting coldly in the moonlight.
Gwen did a light backflip, dodging the attack while simultaneously shooting out another web.
"Second."
Before she could finish speaking, the thug attacked by her web was already hanging upside down from a fire hydrant on the roadside, his legs entangled in the webbing.
Seeing Gwen knock down his comrades in an instant, the third thug turned and ran in terror.
Gwen shook her head as she watched the fleeing figure. "Trying to run? That won't be easy."
"Swish! Swish!"
She quickly shot out two webs, each sticking to the walls on either side of the street.
Then, like an acrobat, Gwen used the elasticity of the webs to draw a perfect arc in the air, landing steadily in front of the fleeing thug.
"Third."
As Gwen spoke, she delivered a beautiful spinning kick, knocking the last thug to the ground.
The whole process took only a dozen seconds, and all three thugs had been subdued.
Gwen clapped her hands and turned to look at a dumbfounded Oliver.
"How was that?" She winked playfully. "This is the daily life of a superhero."
Gwen crouched down to Oliver's level. "Uncle Peter?"
"Yeah, he's the best superhero!"
Oliver's eyes lit up. "He promised to teach me, but..."
His voice lowered. "He left, and Mom won't let me use my superpowers."
Gwen nodded thoughtfully.
She stood up, turned her gaze to the thugs lying on the ground, and ruffled Oliver's hair.
"You know what, Oliver? I've had similar experiences."
Oliver raised his head, looking at her curiously.
"My dad's a cop."
Gwen said softly to him, "He always hoped I could live an ordinary life, but some things, we can't choose."
She pointed to her suit. "Like this outfit, it's both a gift and a responsibility."
Oliver nodded, as if he understood. "But... I really want to help people."
"There are many ways to help people," Gwen said, reaching out her hand to him. "Sometimes, listening to your mom is also an act of heroism. Want me to take you home?"
"If I say no, will you let me go? Pretend you didn't see me."
Oliver raised his head and asked cautiously.
"No, you're not safe right now, even though you've painted your skin a normal color, it'll be easy to see through."
Gwen reached out and touched Oliver's face, which he had deliberately painted to look like normal skin. "Let's go, I'll take you back. Your mom probably doesn't know you ran away from home yet."
Although Oliver could run away right now, he obediently took Gwen's hand.
If she told Mark and his mother, it would be terrible.
Even if he escaped, he would probably be caught quickly.
However, Gwen-neechan is a powerful superhero, perhaps he could team up with her temporarily, and then go find Uncle Peter.
Oliver thought to himself.
The next day.
Gwen said goodbye to Mark Grayson and Debbie.
Her original intention was to see Peter, and now that Peter had left, she no longer needed to stay here.
However, she planned to go to Peter's world for a visit.
Looking down at the bracelet with the ability to traverse dimensions, Gwen had already detected several worlds entangled with this world.
After some speculation, she roughly determined the world where Peter was.
After listening to Mark Grayson's story, she was very interested in Peter's farm and that meteorite town.
She was very envious and curious that Peter's children, who possessed so many superpowers, still had a harmonious family.
"Okay, hopefully nothing unexpected will happen, otherwise the great time traveler Gwen Stacy will have made a wasted trip."
Gwen stood on the street, muttering to herself.
In the distance, Oliver stood in the air, watching Gwen leave, and quietly followed.
Rooftop.
Gwen stood at the edge of the rooftop, adjusting the traversal device on her wrist.
After adjusting, she pressed the button on the bracelet, and a blue energy vortex unfolded in front of her.
Gwen looked at the portal in front of her, took a deep breath, and prepared to jump into the vortex.
Oliver, who had been quietly following, saw that Gwen was about to disappear, and hurriedly accelerated to fly over.
He didn't expect that Gwen could open such a wonderful door.
"Hey, Gwen-neechan, wait for me!"
Oliver flew in the air, chasing after Gwen while shouting.
Finally, one second before the portal closed, he jumped into the energy vortex.
After a dizzying spin, Oliver fell heavily to the ground.
Enduring the pain in his body, Oliver rubbed his eyes and found himself lying in an unfamiliar place.
The salty sea breeze rushed towards him, and the sound of waves crashing against the reefs could be heard in the distance.
"Where is this?"
Oliver sat up, curiously looking around.
He rubbed his eyes, trying to get up from the mud.
"Shh!"
The next second, Gwen covered his mouth and said to him, "Don't talk."
Although Gwen was very surprised and annoyed that Oliver, this naughty kid, had followed her.
But now there was a bigger crisis in front of her.
Gwen looked around, her spider-sense making her feel uneasy.
She lowered her voice, "There's something going on!"
The two quietly hid behind a huge reef, peeking out to observe.
The scene in front of them made the two gasp.
The towering figure of Steppenwolf stood in the center of the mudflat, his armor gleaming coldly in the sunlight.
Surrounding him were winged, humanoid creatures wielding energy weapons.
An Atlantean was nailed to a reef by his battle axe, blue blood flowing down the rocks.
"Tell me the whereabouts of the Mother Box," Steppenwolf's voice was like muffled thunder, "or you will regret being alive."
The Atlantean gritted his teeth, not saying a word.
Steppenwolf sneered, and a dark red energy wave appeared on his battle axe.
The Atlantean let out a painful groan.
Oliver grabbed Gwen's arm tightly and whispered, "We have to save him!"
Gwen's eyes were full of vigilance, "No, wait, don't let him find you."
She carefully observed the surrounding environment.
The mudflat was scattered with reefs of all sizes, and in the distance was a mangrove forest, the tide was rising, and the waves were getting closer and closer.
On the mudflat, Steppenwolf's interrogation continued.
"You can't make your own decisions."
As he spoke, Steppenwolf placed a "mechanical spider" on the Atlantean's head.
The mechanical spider burrowed into the Atlantean's head, piercing his brain with its mechanical claws.
Suddenly, a three-dimensional image was projected into the air.
Looking at the image of the building hiding the Mother Box in front of him, Steppenwolf nodded, "You have betrayed them."
As he spoke, he seemed to sense something and suddenly turned his head.
"Who's there?!"
Seeing that they had been discovered, Gwen quickly said to Oliver, "Listen, Oliver, I'll use my webs to create chaos, you run away quickly, remember, be quick!"
Without waiting for the stunned Oliver to speak, Gwen took a deep breath, flicked her wrist, and several webs shot towards the reefs around Steppenwolf.
She pulled hard, and several huge reefs collapsed with a bang, stirring up mud everywhere.
"Now!"
Gwen shouted loudly.
Although he was a little reluctant, Oliver knew that if he didn't run now, he would definitely let Gwen-neechan down.
Oliver endured the urge to cry and quickly flew out.
But soon he stopped and glanced at the dying Atlantean.
Without hesitating for too long, he flew towards the Atlantean lying on the ground.
Oliver's small body carried the Atlantean and ran towards the mangrove forest.
"Bang!"
Gwen Spider-Woman jumped out from behind the reef, and before Steppenwolf could chase after Oliver, several webs shot towards Steppenwolf's eyes, "Your opponent is here!"
Steppenwolf roared angrily and waved his battle axe to cut through the webs.
His eyes flashed red, staring at Gwen, "An annoying bug."
Gwen did a light backflip, dodging Steppenwolf's sweeping battle axe.
Her spider-sense was going crazy, reminding her that danger was imminent.
"Pretty fast!" Steppenwolf sneered, "But how long can you dodge?"
He suddenly jumped up, and the battle axe slashed towards Gwen with a whistling sound.
Gwen quickly shot out a web, sticking to a reef in the distance, using the force to swing away.
With a loud "boom", the battle axe slashed on the mudflat, stirring up mud everywhere.
Gwen seized the opportunity to shoot out several webs, trying to entangle Steppenwolf's arms.
However, Steppenwolf's strength was far beyond her imagination, he easily tore the webs apart and continued to chase.
Gwen quickly moved on the mudflat, using the reefs and mud to limit Steppenwolf's movements, and constantly shot out webs to create obstacles.
Steppenwolf's battle axe split one reef after another, but he was never able to catch the agile Gwen.
Annoyed, he raised his battle axe, and dark red energy gathered on the axe blade.
As Gwen ran, her spider-sense suddenly stung.
"Boom!"
She quickly jumped up, and a wave of energy swept past her feet, blasting the reef behind her to pieces.
With a "bang", Gwen was blasted away by the shock wave.
Patrick Farm.
Peter didn't know that Gwen Spider had arrived in the DC world and was already in danger in the battle with Steppenwolf.
At this time, in the farm, Peter, Vixen, Persephone, and all of Peter's children were gathered in the living room, listening to Diana tell them.
"According to the information I have, they are another kind of creature from the universe, they serve a dark force, an ancient force."
Wee nodded and asked Diana, "Then what is their purpose?"
