Chapter 23
One and a half months later,
"Ugh, I'm so bored." I groaned in frustration and looked up at the clock. It was 5 pm and Xavier should be here any minute now.
I kept flipping through the channels, feeling bored out of my mind. This has been the same routine for the past one and a half months. I wake up, eat, watch shitty shows, or read some books and stay in bed all day. I missed my job. Xavier was the only thing that was making me feel sane and happy. He used to come and visit me every evening with Hannah and that was the best part of my day. My mom was trying so hard to take care of me and work at the same time. I know it was exhausting for her but she never gave up.
"Hey, I'm just heading out." My mom called out from the living room, breaking my chain of thoughts.
"Where?" I shouted back, in confusion. I mean, where could she possibly go. She was new to town and she doesn't know anybody.
"Well, umm.." she came inside my room and sat on my bed. She was hesitating and I noticed her cheeks go red.
"What is it?" I asked with a small chuckle. She looked all dressed up and nervous.
"I'm meeting this guy, Bryan...for a drink. I just met him at the grocery store last week and.. umm...I mean, I won't go if you don't like it." She rushed out, not meeting my gaze and I broke into a huge grin.
"Oh my god, you finally listened to me. That's amazing, mom but you will be going back to New York in a week, right? How is this going to work?" I asked curiously and she just let out a sigh.
"This isn't anything serious, Becca. I just thought of giving it a try and it's more friendly than romantic," she shrugged casually and I smiled, pulling her in for a hug.
"I'm so excited. Go have fun," I kissed her cheeks and she smiled in response.
"Do I look ok? Is it too much?" She asked, looking down at her white top and blue jeans.
"You look beautiful and I swear, the poor guy is going to have a hard time, keeping his hands off you." I winked, making her blush hard.
"Nobody is going to touch anybody. It's just a friendly date," she stressed it again and I tried to hide my smile.
"Sure, whatever you say."
"When is Xavier coming?" She asked, changing the topic immediately.
"He should be here any minute now," My mom has warmed up to the idea of Xavier a bit and she absolutely adored Hannah. After all, it wasn't that hard to break the ice. I mean, who could resist that guy. He was the definition of a perfect gentleman and I don't even want to get started on his looks.
"Okay, take care and the food is in the fridge. Tell Xavier to heat it," She kissed my forehead and stood up to leave.
"I want all the details when you get back home," I yelled and heard a rumble of laughter in response.
"I just saw your mom all dressed up. What was that about?" I heard Xavier's voice at my bedroom door and sat up straight with a huge grin on my face.
"Yeah, she is going on a date." I beamed proudly.
"Really? No wonder she didn't meet my gaze. She was acting like a deer caught in headlights," he chuckled, leaning against the door frame.
"Where is Hannah?" I asked in confusion.
"Hannah is having a play date with her friend," he stated, shoving his hands inside his pockets.
"Looks like everyone has a date," I pouted, falling back against the bed.
"Just one more week, baby. Once the cast is off, we can go on as many dates as you want." He walked towards my bed, climbing beside me. I instantly wrapped my arms around him and sighed in content.
"I miss you."
"I'm right here," he laughed, kissing my forehead. He moved a bit closer and I felt his breath tickling the nape of my neck, sending shivers down my spine.
God, I was turned on already.
"You know what I mean," I mumbled against his chest and he let out a shaky breath.
"Don't remind me. You have no idea how many cold showers I've had in this past one month," he muttered in annoyance, making me giggle.
"We could fool around. I mean, I don't have to move my leg necessarily for that and my mom's not home." I whispered and felt him go rigid.
"Are you sure, baby? I mean, I don't want to risk anything." He had a concerned look on his face and I just ran my hands all over his chest. He tightened his arms around me as I started to remove a few buttons off his shirt.
"Lay back," he demanded, helping me lay carefully on the bed with a pillow on my back. He started to hover above me, balancing his weight and looked down at me with those mesmerizing blue eyes.
"Wh-- what are you going to do?" I asked in anticipation and started to breathe heavily.
"Devour every inch of you,"
Oh, yes! Bring it on!
He started to kiss me softly, nibbling it and his lips went down my neck, sucking on my weak spot and I moaned in delight. Just then, we were interrupted by his phone.
Fuck!
"Don't pick it up," he spoke against my lips but I pulled back even though my entire body was on fire.
"It's not mine, Xavier."
"It's not mine, either." He scrunched his eyebrows in confusion.
"Get up and go see. It must be my mom's," I nudged him and he frowned. Neither of us wanted to stop our actions but the phone kept on ringing, distracting us and he finally rolled off the bed, muttering curses.
"God, you always leave me with blue balls," he grumbled, walking outside the room. I just laughed and trying to calm my racing heart. It has been a long time since we did anything other than kissing and I couldn't wait for him to devour every inch of me. His words. I noticed that he was gone for a long time and sat up on the bed.
"Xavier?" I shouted and hear no response. I tried to get out of the bed, with the help of my crutches and went outside the living room to find him standing like a statue with my mom's phone in hand.
"Hey, is everything alright?" I asked in a soft voice and he just cleared his throat to respond.
"Yeah, everything is fine. I need to pick up Hannah from her friend's house. My mom is a bit occupied," he spoke, placing the phone on the table and rushed towards the door, without even looking at me. I watched him leave n in shock and confusion.
What the hell just happened?
