Abby’s POV.
“I see you are awake, Jack, why pretend to be sleeping?” I asked with a smile on my face as I gazed at him.
He opened his eyes slowly, so he could see my face clearly and know my mood. I guessed.
“What?” I questioned, seeing how he had refused to take his gaze off me. He kept on staring at me, and it made me want to have him right away.
“You never loved me Abby, you only wanted the sex I gave to you, so why are you here now?” He inquired, making me think Twice before responding to his question.
“Come on Jack, let’s not just talk about that now, okay?” I said as I tried making him think about something else.
“You can use the guest room Abby, you shouldn’t be here with me” His tone suddenly changed.
He turned his face to the other side of his bed and had refused to look at me for once.
“Come on Jack, I apologize for saying those hurtful words to you. I didn’t mean to hurt you, Jack. Not only that, but I just “I was about saying to him before he had to cut me short rudely.
“You just what, Abby? You can’t marry someone because you think all men are the same? Come on, Abby” He sat up on his bed and turned to look at me.
“You said I disgust you and yet, you still want us to have sex? You can’t sleep in the same bed with me Abby. You should go to another room okay” He stood up from the bed and made his way to the bathroom after making his point to me.
I was astonished seeing how harsh he was when he was talking to me. I didn’t like him that way and as wished to bring things back to normal just like it has always been.
I stood up and was about to leave his room when suddenly, I heard Jack scream inside his bathroom.
I ran over to the door and had kept knocking fearfully.
He was sad and there was every possibility that he was going to harm himself if he stayed in there alone.
“Jack come on open the door. I apologize for every word I uttered while you proposed to me earlier, I just don’t want to get hurt any more, Jack. Please open the door” I begged with my hand still placed on his door.
“leave me alone Abby!! I want to avoid seeing you again or have anything to do with you, Abby!! You disgust me too” He stated clearly which I knew was out of anger.
He was only mad at me for refusing his proposal and I understood that.
“You can hate me all you want Jack but please, just open up the door Jack!!” I kept on begging, but he just wouldn’t listen to me.
“Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!! Shit!!!!” he exclaimed and immediately, a sound that belonged to that of a wall glass being shattered by a human was heard.
“Jack?? Jack, please come out, !” I cried out as I had kept on pushing the door endlessly.
He must have scratched himself and that wasn’t going to be a good one. He was only trying his best to be a good man but all I did was to turn him into a monster just because of Alex.
“You don’t want me Abby! You will never want me so why the fuck are you right here acting like without me, you won’t live???” he questioned with a loud voice which made me fall to my knees.
“I am begging please jack just come out. I promise to explain to you my reasons for saying no to you, Jack. Please come out” I pleaded with a low tone.
“You will never love me Abby, don’t act like you care“ He said as he opened the door.
I looked at him and realized that he had actually shattered the mirror in his bathroom with his hand.
He had a little cut on his left side cheek, but his hand kept bleeding and needed immediate attention.
He walked pass me like I wasn’t on the ground. I deserved it, so I just didn’t make a big deal out of it.
“Just leave my room when you are through crying“ He climbed on his bed and used his duvet to cover himself from his head down to his toe.
He wanted to avoid hearing me speak, but I must tell him everything and my fear when it came to getting married.
I went over to one of the staffs and asked for their first aid treatment which was handed over to me.
They heard noises too coming from Jacks room, but they just didn’t want to come ask why knowing that I was with him.
“Thanks a lot” I appreciated before running over to Jack’s room to go get him treated.
I opened his door and saw him on the floor sobbing.
“I thought I told you to leave.” He placed his hand on his eyes and wiped the tears that had kept on pouring out from it.
“Is that why you decided to sit on the floor and cry like a baby?” I teased but with respect.
It was obvious that any little thing could make him angry, so I tend to mind my words to him.
I sat down close to him with the aid box on the floor too close to my Left-hand side.
I embraced him but wasn’t surprised that he didn’t reciprocate my warm embrace on his body.
“You should leave me alone, I will treat myself without your help” He spoke out gently without looking at me.
“I can’t leave you here like this Jack. No matter what you say or do. I must keep on treating you until you heal up” I spoke out like I was his mom.
“Give me your hand, Jack” I demanded, but he wouldn’t comply.
I immediately grabbed his hand and brought it closer to myself. I took out the spirit in the box and rubbed it on his knuckles.
“Crap. It burns” He said out like a kid.
“I know, and you are expected to be a man Jack” I chuckled after I said such to him, and he did too.
He stopped when he saw that I was staring at him. He must have probably tried to hide the fact that he was happy knowing that I sat down close to him.
“Did I just see a smile on your face Jack” I said, so he would know that I had actually caught him chuckling.
“That isn’t what I meant” He cleared his throat as he looked away from what I was doing.
Seeing that he was calm, I decided to be open to him. I felt bad keeping him in the dark for so long.
“I am sorry for what happened earlier today Jack” I apologized while continued taking care of his hand.
“It’s nothing Abby. You shouldn’t be the one apologizing. I should be the one apologizing for not confronting you first before making such silly moves” He mentioned as he turned to look at me. For some reasons, I felt calm looking into his eyes. It was never like this with other men, it only happened with Alex.
“You know, you were right when you said I had a bad past love life before you” I started again with my head bent and focused on his hand.
“I am sorry if I did mention that too, I ….” He was about saying, but I had to cut him short.
“Sorry? Don’t be silly. I was just scared that my history would repeat itself.” I smiled as I looked up to his face.
“I was about getting married Jack but guess what?” I asked him rhetorically.
“I was dumped, I was abandoned at the altar by someone I confessed I loved so much, Jack.” I said out.
“What? Why?” he opened his eyes widely as he questioned me.
“You look excitingly interested to know more right” I chuckled.
“I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, but the fact that someone dumped you at the altar is actually a bad crime. You are beautiful and shouldn’t be treated like a piece of trash” He stated clearly as he tried soothing me.
“Come on Jack. I am not that special you know” I announced as I wrapped up with what I was doing on his hand.
“His name was Alex and trust me, I really loved him to the last” I mentioned without thinking if it was going to hurt Jack.
“I am sorry he did such, but….” Jack was about saying again before I cut in.
“You should be tired of apologizing to me, Jack. I should be the one saying the apologies” I asserted.
“I will do my part of the apology, Abby. Don’t worry, okay, I won’t be like him” He assured as he gave me a tight hug while we sat down on the floor.
“Let me dress the injury on your cheek silly” I stated as I pulled out of his grip.
I was about dressing his wound when suddenly, a sweet and passionate kiss came from his lips to my neck.
“I love you so much Abby and I promise not to be like him, okay” He whispered into my ear before pecking me on my cheek.
