Abby Gets Admitted.

Jack's POV.

It was already getting late in the night and here I was, sitting on the ground with Abby in my arms unconscious.

I was stunned at first seeing how she had gone mute all of a sudden after drinking the poison and coughing out blood from her mouth.

"Abby?" I called out voicelessly as I just couldn't find my voice anymore.

"What is this? Is this a dream or something? Why isn't she moving? Why is she mute right now?" I asked myself countless times like I wasn't aware of what had happened to her , before my eyes.

"Abby?" I whispered as I quacked her lifeless body in my arm.

"This isn't happening right? Abby you're still alive right?" I questioned as I placed my ear on her left boobs to see if I could still hear her heart beat.

I did the process four times and for the first two times I placed my ear on her chest, I was sure I didn't hear a thing but the last time was just different.

Truth be told , I was going insane and wasn't sure what I was hearing or feeling anymore.

I paused for a second as I gazed at Abby laying lifeless without saying a word to me.

The memories we had from the very first day I met her in a public bus immediately came flashing through my head.

All I could think of was how beautiful and sweet she was in all she did back then. I felt a pain in my heart the moment I thought about how bad I had been towards her.

"She did this because of me. She is this way because of me right? I made her do this to herself ….. I… I killed her!!!" I revealed, like I was conversing with someone standing next to me.

"I…. I made her this way. I should fix this, I should take her to the hospital! I…. I…."

I panicked as different thoughts jumped into my head at the same time. I should have taken her to the hospital at first sight of blood.

"What have I done to you?? ……"

I looked around my room in search of anything or anyone that could be of help but unfortunately, no one was staying with me and Abby.

We lived alone but it was not going to be a bad idea calling someone for help.

"Help!! Someone please help me!!!" I cried out with so much pain and tears running down my eyes uncontrollably.

After a few minutes of trying to get help from anyone, I saw no one, not even a soul coming to my rescue.

I was running out of time. We were running out of time as her life was surely in danger.

I immediately stood up from the ground with Abby still in my arm and tears running down my eyes.

I carried her out of my house and dropped her at the back seat in my car.

Without wasting any more time in the house, I climbed into the car and drove out of the house.

Soon, I got to the hospital as I kept on Panicking.

"Help!!!!! Please help!!!!" I cried out one more time the moment I got to the hospital with Abby.

I opened the back door and I was still trying to get her out of the car when finally, I saw three nurses running out of the hospital with a stretcher and dashing straight towards me.

They came for Abby and I just had to let them do their job properly.

They carried her gently and placed her on the stretcher knowing that she was heavily pregnant.

I followed them into the hospital without closing or locking my car like I always do.

The love I had for Abby had suddenly rekindled seeing her hurt.

Until then, I recalled her last statement to me before she blacked out in my arms earlier on.

"It actually had to take you to see me dead before you love me again, Jack!"

This statement kept ringing in my head and wasn't going to leave my mind no matter how I tried to get my mind to focus.

"We will take it from here sir!" A nurse notified me as she stopped me from going into the emergency ward with them.

I really wished to go in with them but I was sure about the hospital's rules so I had to stay back.

I sat down quietly in the waiting room as I just wished Abby was safe.

Several thoughts ran through my head as I stayed at a spot. I was angered and pained at that point.

I wished nothing of such had ever happened! I wished I never got to know that her baby, our baby, was going to be deformed.

"I've been so stupid until this time! What the fuck have I done to myself? To my relationship?" I struck my head in shame as I couldn't stop feeling guilty for what had happened to Abby.

I took a deep breath as I tried soothing myself. I had to stop myself from getting extremely crazy anyways.

It was better to know what was going to happen to her at that point than going crazy and hitting anyone that came my way.

I was still trying to get my head into the game when the door to the emergency ward opened slowly.

A nurse putting on a flowing white coat as usual ran out of the ward and wasn't looking happy.

I stood up and ran towards her direction to know what was happening because I was as curious as the cat at that hour.

Knowing that she was alright was going to go a long way in helping me stay calm.

"How is my wife, nurse……" I looked at the name tag on her coat before I called her name.

"Nurse Sanny?" I added with a curious and trembling look on my face.

"Who is your wife sir?" She asked, panting as she kept on walking faster than I was.

"She…." I was going to mention Abby but I guess the nurse had better things to do than stand at a spot and listen to me.

"I will get back to you sir!! Please!!" She ran off without speaking a word to me about Abby's condition.

"If only I was good to her." I mumbled as I went closer to the wall and had my forehead struck gently on the wall in pity for my pregnant wife.

I was so ashamed of myself that the rest of the nurses who had come out of the ward made it difficult to talk to them.

They all had this sad expression on their faces and truth be told, I was going mad seeing such.

I sat down quietly, hoping for the best news soon that I wasn't sure when I suddenly went blank and into Dreamland.

"Mr. Jack?? Jack??"

"Yeah??! Yeah?? I'm up!!!" I jerked the moment I felt a hand tapping me on my right shoulder.

"Stay calm, please… I'm sorry If I startled you Jack!!"

"Hello Doctor Albert….." I immediately stood up realising who was standing before me in the hospital.

"I see you are back, Jack. So sorry for making you wait this long!" He apologised but with a smile on his face.

At that point, I couldn't think of anything else other than Abby who had gone into the emergency unit because of me.

"Abby… how is Abby?" I inquired as I stood up from the seat.

"...... I.. I need to know please.. How is she doing now?" I added as I kept on Panicking.

I was fucking desperate to know how she was and it made the doctor erupt a snigger out of his lips.

"You seem too interested in knowing what and how Abby is feeling, Jack. I could still recall when you warned me never to call her your wife. What changed?" Albert asked with a mocking tone.

"Can you just tell me if Abby is okay or not?????" I bellowed , not liking the way he was sounding or making me feel about Abby.

"Come with me Jack!" He urged as he made a U turn and had begun to go into a separate ward in the hospital.

Soon, we got to a door and at that point, he halted with a smile still on his face.

"What?" I questioned, still looking curious as ever.

"Don't be a fool Jack. Just like I told you last time, you don't know what you actually have in your palm until you lose it. Don't just continuously be a fool not to realise that , Jack." Doctor Albert said out as he tried telling me what was best for me and Abby.

I felt anger and shame but I just couldn't do anything other than to hang my head low, taking my eyes off him.

"Here is Abby's room. She's sleeping, just be quiet, she needs to rest!" Albert added and without further words from him , he turned around and left me all alone in front of Abby's room.

"Whatever you say Albert……" I scoffed sarcastically and opened the door to Abby's room, leaving Albert to himself.

"Abby?" I whispered the moment I saw her face in the room.

I went closer to her and had her hand placed into mine gently and in a loving way.

"I'm really sorry for everything!!" I sobbed seeing how pitiful she looked.

"Alex…. Alex?? Please don't leave… don't leave me please!!" Abby whimpered as she shook her head slowly on the bed with her eyes tightly shut.

"She still loves Alex?" I questioned, looking at her and wondering why she had

drank the poison because of me when she still thought about Alex.

"I shouldn't have felt sorry for what I did!!!" …..I said bitterly.
