~Aurelia Williams~
When I opened my eyes, I recognized the hospital room I woke up from when I first arrived here.
I looked at the windows through which the sun was shining into the room. It must have been noon.
Then my eyes met Arsen, who was lying with his head on my hospital bed, apparently fast asleep.
He was here, just like last time. Only with the difference that this time I'm happy to see him. He was also so close to me that I only had to reach out my hand to feel the nice tingling sensation when I touched him.
I started smiling. He looked incredibly cute while sleeping. When his features relax and he doesn't look so fierce anymore...
I lifted my hand and stroked his black hair, which was incredibly soft. I've wanted to do this for so long
Then I had to think about yesterday again. He confessed to me that I'm his mate. So could it really be true? Am I really his? Or did I just dream it. But then he wouldn't be here, would he?
"Aurelia?" Arsen grumbled, raising his head now and eyeing me sleepily.
"Hey," I replied happily. It's hard to believe that we're sitting across from each other now. It made me happy to be around him. Where I felt fear a few days ago, there was now pure happiness and light-heartedness.
Arsen took the hand that just ran through his hair between his hands and started to give me the most beautiful smile in the world, which I returned. When he touched my hand, you could feel those thousands of sparks again. Was that the mate connection?
"I'm so glad you're okay."
And I'm glad he's with me.
"So I'm your mate?" I asked after a little pause. I wanted confirmation that I wasn't just dreaming about it.
"I've wanted to tell you for so long." He brought my hand to his lips and kissed me lightly. The spot he kissed immediately started to tingle, sending goosebumps all over my skin.
"What about Savanna?" When I remembered her, my smile left me.
"It's a little complicated to explain. The fact is that she got pregnant and I thought the child was mine. As an Alpha, you are obliged to take care of your successor, and the successor's mother must be Luna. That's why I stayed away from you. But Savanna lied to me. Turns out I'm not her pup's father, I'm her mate. She now lives with him in the pack."
"You slept with her anyway, even when we already knew each other. Or was the woman in your room another woman again?" It made me angry to think about it.
"I wanted to give you time until I slept with you, and that's how long Savanna had to satisfy my needs," Arsen said easily.
"'So long Savanna had to satisfy my needs,'" I mimicked. What does he think of himself? If he loves me, he shouldn't get into bed with another woman. No matter how happy I am right now he was, now i was angry, he knew from the start that i was his mate, unlike me.
Arsen broke his arrogant smile, as if he couldn't understand why I was angry.
"You know what? You'd better find someone else to make out with right away, because I'm definitely not going to sleep with someone like you." I snapped at him angrily. Who knows how many he's been in bed with.
"But with Steven or what?" he yelled back angrily.
"YES, BECAUSE STEVEN IS A LOYAL MAN."
"DO YOU THINK I WILL NOT BE FAITHFUL? WEREWOLVES ARE THE MOST FAITHFUL BEINGS ON EARTH!"
"SURE, I HEARD." I was referring to the noises I heard coming from Arsenic's room the first few nights I stayed here.
"WE WERE NOT EVEN TOGETHER! SO WHY BOAST ME WITH PAST THINGS NOW?" He took a deep breath and then continued more calmly. "We should focus on our future."
"But I don't want anyone who just wants me because I'm his mate." I calmed down too and started sobbing. This whole werewolf thing was killing me. Was that even real love? I hadn't been your mate." Arsenic just looked at me. I could tell from the look on his face that I was right.
"Say it!" I demanded.
"Aurelia, no."
"Say it!"
"Fine," he began, giving me a sad look, "I would have killed you back then without batting an eyelid." That gave me certainty and hot tears ran down my cheeks.
"But now I've seen the woman behind the human and I regret wanting to do it. Because even if you weren't my mate now, I would never kill you." He tried. "Because I've seen you, Aurelia. A strong woman who says what she thinks and now I understand that you Humans are not all the same. Please forgive me!"
"I think I need some rest now. Would you please leave me alone?" I asked him. I couldn't forgive him that quickly. I have to think about it first and need time.
Shortly thereafter he ran a hand through his hair in desperation and left the room.
I was trying to close my eyes again and block out the mounting headache when I heard a knock. This time Dr. Malcolm left the room and gave me a warm smile.
"I'm glad to see you're awake and seeming fine. How are you?" he asked.
"Fine, except for the headache," I replied.
"I think that's normal for a concussion. You were pretty lucky in your accident. You don't have any major other injuries. Just a few minor abrasions. We'll keep you here for one more day for surveillance, then you can go out again."
"Thanks."
"No thank you, Luna." My eyes widened. Did he really just call me Luna?
"Oh um no. I'm not Luna."
"You're the Alpha's mate, so you're automatically Luna." He gave me another smile and then left the room as well.
How fast has the news spread now? Does the whole pack know about it now? Do I even want to be Luna?
Suddenly there was another knock. Who is that again? But when the person walked in, I had to start smiling.
Inala entered the room with a slight smile on her face. She approached me and finally wrapped me in a gentle hug. She was probably afraid of hurting me.
"So you're Arsens Mate.", she started with the topic now. You could clearly hear the joy in her voice. It was also clear. I was also happy that Arsenic returned my feelings. At least before I realized that he must feel this way and can't do anything about it.
"Does everyone know that now?" I whined.
"I found out right after you escaped. Believe me, I wouldn't have helped you if I had known beforehand."
"Speaking of escape. How is Steven and where is he?"
"Don't worry, we wolves heal faster than ordinary people. He was feeling great again this morning. Arsen initially wanted to punish him and put him in the dungeon, but he just decided that he shouldn't come visit you."
"Thank God." This now referred to the fact that he wasn't dead. Of course, I thought it sucked that he wasn't allowed to visit me.
But one question was still swirling around in my head.
"What idiot of a wolf came up with the great idea of standing in front of the car?"
"That was one of the younger warriors, new and inexperienced. He thought it was a great idea and disobeyed Arsen's orders. That's why he's allowed to spend the rest of the day in the dungeon.", Inala answered.
"Enough chattering about it. I want to know everything between you and Arsenic." Inala continued.
"There's not much there. But I can't get it out of my head that if I wasn't his mate, he would have killed me." I avoided her gaze and stared out the window, which gave a view of the trees swaying in the wind.
"I understand you, but this can't stay between the two of you forever." She tried to calm me down.
"I know, but I just need a little more time."
"You should speak up." She grabbed my hand and squeezed it lightly. I gave her another smile, knowing that talking would be the only sensible thing to do.
Inala stayed a little longer and we talked about many things. In the evening she finally went home and I also finally started to rest.
