Chapter 28

Eve's POV (ℙ𝕣𝕖𝕤𝕖𝕟𝕥 𝕕𝕒𝕪)
I was right. I had to fuck him.
That was the only way to regain my sanity. All this attraction was getting on my nerves, was becoming a freaking inconvenience, because I couldn't understand how three little words could just turn me to mush.
I took a careful step forward, and Lucas grip tightened around my arms. He stepped closer to me, cosying up to my sides as he guided me past the tent, and towards what I could only assume was the beach.
We walked in silence, neither of us willing to instigate a topic for conversation. Soon his hands began to loosen around my arms, almost becoming a caress. I tilted my neck to get a better look at him.
"You know-"
"I just wanna say-"
We both stopped as quickly as we started, then doubled over in laughter. That was the intervention we needed.
"You first." He chucked, the hand he had sneaked behind my back gently caressing my ankle now. How was I supposed to concentrate when he kept teasing me?
I cleared my mind and gazed at him. "I just can't get over the fact that Dave betrayed me. What could Laura have possibly held against him that he couldn't tell me? That I couldn't fix? I don't know, I just feel like Damien's story doesn't add up."
Lucas tensed. I could feel it in the tightening of his hand, in the way his pulse slowed. He stopped his caressing and dropped his hands to his side. I picked up the hand and squeezed. "I might not know him very well, or maybe my emotions are all over the place due to the crash. That's why I need you to be truthful to me. Are you a hundred per cent sure about Damien?"
He took in a deep breath and stopped walking. Then turning to me, he picked the other hand that was resting on my sides and moulded it into his. "I trust him." He confirmed, conviction shining in his eyes and somehow, in a very fucked up way, it made me feel better.
"A few years back, " He started. Why did he feel the need to explain? "I had gotten myself into a terrible fix. And to get me out of it, Damien and I made a plan. Only to discover, a few hours before its execution, that our enemies not only knew details about the plan but had already made a move against it"
His hands slipped from my palms to the back of my neck, his fingers, slowly caressing around it. I bit back a moan. My body surrendering to the out slut of pleasure his touch evoked.
"I was furious, " He continued as if he wasn't obliterating me with his bare hands. "So I lashed out at Damien, accusing him of betraying me. By the time I finally discovered he was innocent, it had almost been too late. He almost lost his life because I couldn't trust him, believe in him."
"I'm sorry," I whispered. I couldn't believe how emotional I was right now. Somehow, I felt bad for Damien. I knew how frustrating it was to be caught in the middle of someone else's mess. It sucked.
I looked up at Lucas. He was towering over me, eyes molten with suppressed emotions. I could see his love for Damien, his loyalty, his trust. What I saw beneath those orbs were all or nothing. And that was the very same look that had stolen my heart many years ago.
"Let's go," He suddenly groaned and I sighed at the loss of his heat, feeling bereft when he stepped away from me. Linking my fingers with his again, he resumed our slow walk towards the beach, with me falling in step beside him. I knew he was trying to hide his emotions by stepping away. What he didn't know was how much of an expert I was at reading him.
That's because he doesn't know you are Evelyn. If he knew...
"We are there," Lucas said and picked up the pace. I followed behind, hearing the crash of waves as they hit the bank of the beach and doubled back. I watched him run into the water, throwing his arms around and above his head as the waters crashed against his thighs. It was a beautiful sight. Even more beautiful than the ocean itself.
I paused a moment to admire him, taking my sweet time before going over to join him. "That was unfair," I pouted, as I sent splashes of water his way using my legs.
"What was unfair?" he asked and grabbed my limb. Dragging me closer to him, he wrapped his arm below my waist, amusement lacing his voice.
"You leaving me," I whispered, my voice suddenly gone.
He chuckled, bringing me flush against his body. "Your complaint is coming a bit too late madame." He drawled with a sexy smirk.
I rolled my eyes, trying to ignore the fact that his nose was almost touching mine. I placed my hands on his chest and licked my lips. If he wanted to play, then we were gonna play. "That's because you left me no choice. You left too quickly for me to protest."
"All you had to do was call out, Eve. I would have been back before your tongue had hit the last syllable." Electricity zapped through me. Fuck, his words.
Lucas swept a strand of hair that had obstructed my face and licked his lips. My eyes followed the wicked movement of his tongue as it skimmed over lush thick lips. I wanted to bite it. I wanted him to bite me.
The hands I had on his chest began to move up, feeling up his hard muscles. Lord, did he somehow become hotter between the time he disappeared? How come I hadn't noticed it?
Because you were busy plotting revenge. At the thought, my hands instinctively squeezed his nipples, and they hardened beneath my fingertips.
"Eve," Lucas groaned painfully, his hands slipping behind my head. Grabbing a handful of hair, he pulled hard. "You are playing with fire, woman."
I moaned as his words and tight grip sent pools of moisture straight to my core. My thighs clamping together, in desperate need of fiction.
Biting my lips, I rasped hoarsely, "I don't need to play, Lucas, I am fire-" Before I would even breathe out the last word Lucas's lips were already on me, devouring me, destroying me, branding me.
I groaned in pleasure. To all the gods and beyond, he tasted liked pure perfection. Just how I remembered him, divine.
My fingers tightened on his nipples and he bit my lips in response. The moment I gasped, Lucas plunged his hot tongue into my willing mouth. The fingers in my hair tightening in a painful grip. There was nothing gentle about the way we were kissing. It was hard, fast and wild. It was just the way I loved it, the way I needed it.
The hands that were on his chest slipped onto his shoulders and wrapped themselves around his neck. Lucas groaned in response, the hands that were around my waist slipping higher.
As he caressed up my back, my moans suddenly became a painful groan and I tore my lips away from his.
On realising the cause of my pain, Lucas cursed. "Fuck, I'm sorry."
He grumbled, berating himself before pulling me into a careful hug. He then began to slowly rub my arms and massage my scalp to distract me from the pain. "I got carried away. Totally forgot about your injuries."
I giggled lightly, raising my chin to look at his face. My pain, forgotten. "Carried away huh? Aren't you supposed to be protecting me?"
A small smile played across his lips. "You are right. But how could I have protected you with the way I was so distracted." With a more serious look, he added, "Let's never kiss like that again, okay?"
I frowned. "And why would I agree to something as outrageous as that?"
"Because the next time my lips touch yours, you won't be able to walk for days."
My eyes glazed over. I needed to fuck this man, soon.
"Lucas-"
"Don't say my name while looking at me like that," He grunted, placing his fingers on my lips. What would happen If I parted my lips and licked them?
"Like what?" I whispered instead, my voice so thick, I could barely even hear myself.
"Like you want me to-"
"Dinner is ready...." An excited voice announced behind us, trailing off at the sight before her. Well, no one could blame me for being wrapped in Lucas's arms like some kind of cotton candy. He was a flame to my moth.
"That's if you guys are ready." She added, a knowing smile on her lips. I turned to her with a scowl.
"Why shouldn't we be, Rita?" I drawled, my flushed cheeks passing for anger.
Lucas chuckled in amusement. The fact that my arms were still in his possession wasn't lost on me. He was still caressing them, his fingers making slow circles up my shoulders and around my neck, my back flush against his chest.
Goosebumps broke over my skin, and Rita noticed. "For one, you look terrible. Not plane crash terrible but ravished to the end terrible. Anyone seeing you guys right now would think we were lovers."
I rolled my eyes, but she wasn't finished. "And if I were being truthful, I'd say you guys look good together. Probably too good. Thank God I'm not being truthful." She smirked then began making her way back to the camp.
"You better move it before Jay comes hunting you himself." She shouted over her shoulders and I couldn't help the slow blush that crept beneath my cheeks as we began to make our way back to the camp.
"I guess we should be lucky it wasn't Jay who caught you moulded into my arms," Lucas remarked and I grinned.
He was right. I wouldnt have heard the end of it and you know what? I didn't give a damn because fraternizing with the enemy was as sinfully enticing as speculated.
Hopefully, it didn't get me killed. As speculated.
