Lucas POV (โ๐ฃ๐๐ค๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ช)
"AH!' I howled in raw pain as I sent my bullets flying to where that evil bitch and her minions were. All I saw was red, and all I needed to see was blood. Their blood. I needed them all dead, like right now.
I sprinted towards the stairs in rage, my only destination, up. Behind me, I could hear bullets flying as Gina's men began shooting at me, but somehow, I wasn't being hit. Which only meant one thing.
Eve had my back.
As I ran up the stairs, narrowly missing a shot as it met with the iron hand of the bannister, I raised my gun and aimed for Gina - who was already heading for the metal doors she had previously emerged from.
Oh no, you not getting out of this one.
I fired, hitting the metal doors in front of her. How the fuck was she missing my bullets? I fired again, this time letting the gun fly carelessly. I didn't care where I hit her so far a bullet was lodged beneath her skin.
"Fuck! she grunted and fell forward, the metal doors serving as a support to her weakened form. I had got her in the shoulder.
That was step one.
I reached the balcony and made my way towards her but just as I lifted my gun to her head, a gun poked out of the darkened passage beyond the mental door, aiming at me with intent.
"You'll have to let us go, Lucas," Damien muttered as he stepped out of the shadows to face me. Behind him, Laura had appeared and was already aiding Gina into the darkened passage and away from sight.
"Get out of my way, Damien. Or I'll shoot you myself, and this time it would be for real."
"I thought I was already dead to you, brother? The person you need to be worried about is Rita - for, in the next ten minutes, your van will explode, with her in it."
My nose flared. "This is not over, not in a long shot." I pulled the trigger, the slug hitting him in the knee. "That's for my parents." With that said and quickly whipped around and made for the nearest exit, flying down the steps with lightning speed.
"Lucas!" Eve groaned, her hands clasping her left shoulder as she made her way towards me. Fuck! She was hurt.
"Eve, I have to go get Rita, she has just eight minutes before the van blows up." As I said this I noticed the shooting has stopped. "Where are Gina's men?" I grunted, looking around the hall to find out for myself.
"I killed them," She muttered, "I killed them all."
"Damn woman!" I rasped and drew her close to me. "We have to talk, and we'll do it soon," I whispered, placing my lips on her forehead and leaving a chase kiss there. It was a promise, an apology, a declaration.
"Go," She whispered, her voice weary. "Go save her."
I took off towards the exit, my heart in my throat as I checked the time, four minutes left. As I sprinted out into the open, my eyes landed on the van, then sank at the sight of Gina standing a few kilometres away, her shoulders bent to the side due to the slug I planted there, a detonator in her hands, her lips curved in a wicked smirk.
"Say goodbye to your sister, Antonio." She sneered before pressing the red button on the detonator. The van went up in flames, my orbs capturing every moment, every flash, every flame.
I died inside.
"Noooo!" I hauled and sprinted towards the burning van, just as I was about to haul myself into the flame, a hand caught my wrist, dragging backwards and away from the burning van, away from Rita.
"Let me goooo!" I cried and collapsed on the tared floor, taking Eve along with me.
"Lucas, Lucas, look at me." I vaguely heard and felt Eve as she clutched my head between her fingers, tears dropping from her beautiful Amber eyes, eyes that were supposed to be blue. Had she changed her eye colour too?
I looked at her, but I was far away, unseeing, empty and once again, dead. And I was sure that this time, there was no rising from the aches, no picking myself up from the flames. This time, I wanted to die.
"I know," She sobbed above me, her nose red, eyes blurry. "I know and I am sorry. Please don't leave me, Lu. Please don't-"
Her words were suddenly stunted and the slithering form of Laura appeared behind her with a shotgun in hand. Eve's eyes went blank before she passed out on top of me.
The last thing I saw was Laura as she raised her hands and pulled the trigger, the drug-filled needle embedding itself into my skin, and the pitiful gaze of Laura as she began dragging Eve off me.
It was decided. I was going to enjoy killing the woman.
*****************
I woke up with a start. My hands were tied behind my back in a painful nut. The tin wire disrupting the blood circulation there. I lifted my eyelids, trying to get a better grasp of my surroundings. I was in a dimly lit room. The place looked somewhat like a dungeon. The walls were old, there was just one window and it was very high up the wall, almost touching the ceiling.
I tried turning my head to the left to get a better view so I could start plotting my escape but winced from the dull pain the filtered into my skull. The tranquillizer Laura had injected me with was taking its time to wear off.
"Lucas?" A familiar voice whispered beside me and I slowly turned my head towards the voice. Eve was sitting two meters away from me, her hands tied behind her back, head leaning back as she took in her surrounding just as I had.
"Where the fuck are we?" She asked in a hushed tone, her eyes finally landing on me.
"How the fuck would I know? I just woke up, just like you did." She nodded and I sighed. I was being an ass. "I'm guessing we are in the basement of a warehouse. They couldn't have taken us far, it would draw attention to them."
"That, you are right about." A voice hummed from behind the metal door that was in front of us. We both stilled, our gaze fixed on the door. It opened and Laura walked in, looking like a hair hasn't been touched on her head.
I rolled my eyes at the same moment Eve hissed. "We were hoping to meet the boss, but instead we got the minion."
I chuckled bitterly. Ignoring the glare Laura sent my way before facing Eve. "I'm sorry, but you'll have to deal with me."
"Why aren't we dead already? Isn't that what your boss wants?" Eve scoffed, her features set in a growl.
"True, that's what she wants, but not me. I for one want something entirely different."
I hoisted my eyebrows in apprehension. I didn't trust the bitch, not one second. "And what would that be?" I sneered, shooting her my deadliest scowl.
"I want to see Gina fall."
Eve threw her head back in laughter, laughing like this was the funniest thing she had ever heard in her entire life. After a second of good hearty laughter, she raised her head and sniggered at Laura. "The minion betrays the master. A classic tale."
Laura smirked. "As you've recently discovered, I've just been a pon in the game, and now, I think it's time for the pon to become queen. Your mother is nothing but a psycho. Have you asked her why she did all she did in the first place? The bitch was just having fun with your lives. Your options are simple; Join forces with me and live. You also get the chance to kill the bitch yourselves. Or refuse and die, right now."
"And what exactly will it take for us to join forces with you?" I asked, my eyes gripping hers in a visual stare down.
"She'll need the documents you stole from me." A deadly voice growled behind Laura. Her eyes widening, she turned and met a grinning Gina and the end of a barrel.
"Gi-Gina I-" She didn't get to finish her sentence because there was a loud bang, followed by the body of Laura hitting the ground.
Tucking the gun beneath her waistband, a grinning Gina drawled. "Now, where were we?"
