Threat-2
Elijah’s Point of View
I recalled the precise moment, at this same spot inside the theater, where I first spotted Atasha, with Leo and Clarence arguing at the time. I remembered that I was hiding under the seats so they wouldn’t be aware of my presence so that I could take Atasha out of this area and return her to the main territory without them knowing.
If only I could turn back the hands of time, and if I could do it swiftly, perhaps the conflict between us wouldn’t ever happen at all.
What Atasha had told me earlier, about her plan to seek help from Zach to train to become a Luna, took me completely by surprise. I was curious as to where she got her guts. Her aura changed as well, to a certain extent. When we first met, it seemed that all through the day, she was terrified and worried. But right now, I observed that she was gaining more and more confidence with each passing time.
I wasn’t sure if this was a positive or could be a negative development as I was also concerned that she would become self-sufficient to the point that she no longer needed my help.
I had to scold myself inwardly. I shouldn’t even think about something like that. I should concentrate on achieving my objectives, with Atasha’s cooperation, of course.
"Atasha, what will you do once you find your mate?" I asked.
She took a deep breath. My attention was drawn at her, waiting for her to say anything.
"Forget about it . . .” I added, then I took a long breath.
What the hell was I even thinking? Why did I ask her that question? I scratched the back of my neck in annoyance. From a distance, I could hear a familiar voice that added up my nuisance. When I turned to my left, I saw Clarence who was heading toward us.
I was disappointed with her desperation. I uttered a curse, as I had to face another dilemma now that she was around . . . once again.
"Hey, El. What’s up? I’m so happy after learning that I’ll be sitting next to you!” she exclaimed as she took her seat beside me, and then she looked over my shoulder. “And oh, Atasha is also here! This surprised me!”
All I could do was shake my head, completely annoyed. I was seated in between Atasha and Clarence, and I was feeling a little smothered at the moment.
I only came back to my senses when I saw my father, Alpha Gregory, come in with his trusted Beta and his men. The moment I looked around the room, I was convinced that his guys were already on their way in to ensure that he was safe to enter this area. It was a good thing that we were all hiding behind our masks. With this, he wouldn't have guessed that we were with Atasha.
"I still didn't see Leo," Atasha said after a little while.
I was becoming apprehensive since the performance was about to begin. Everyone in attendance was welcomed by the host, who delivered an opening speech. When Alpha Gregory's name was mentioned, we all rose to our feet to pay our respect. We applauded in anticipation of the play's commencement. The performers arrived and immediately began delivering their lines. I couldn't concentrate since my eyes were still on the alert for my father.
The performers began to sing, which strangely distracted me from listening to every sound inside the room.
There was still no sign of Leo even after the performance on the stage, and I began to wonder whether I was fretting a little too much.
“Elijah . . .” Clarence called my name in hushed tones. She then wrapped her hands around my arm. “Could you maybe allow me a minute to hold your arm like this? I am feeling a bit cold and I would like to feel your warmth," she uttered.
Atasha's sharp eyes were fixed on me as I glanced at her seat. She quickly moved a little bit, which made me startled. I instantly removed Clarence’s hands away from me.
"Fuck off, Clarence," I whispered through my gritted teeth as I didn't want to get the crowd’s attention.
"But I'm freezing!" she said in her seductive tone of voice.
I then shifted my gaze back to Atasha, wondering what was whirling through her head right now, but she looked at me with a calm expression on her face, which I found odd.
"Would you be interested in switching seats?" she inquired.
I was a little taken aback by her question, but I just nodded my head, and swallowed hard. Atasha rose to her feet, and it was only then that I understood we were supposed to switch seats.
"Thank you very much, Atasha."
Now, I was seated right next to the stair which would lead to the exit and entrance point of this area. A few inches away from my sit were the front row and from here, I could see my father and his men very well.
"Elijah, please check on your father and see if he's all right," Atasha stated.
It was reassuring to know that I can put my trust in Atasha from this point forward. Everyone could say that I wouldn't have gotten this far without her. When I turned to my left to thank her, Atasha and Clarence were no longer in their seats. On the other hand, Veronica and Zach were still in front of us, and the other people seemed to be amused about what was happening on stage.
I became anxious, trying to look everywhere to see where Atasha and Clarence went.
I immediately got to my feet and tapped Veronica.
“Can you tell me where Atasha and Clarence are?" I asked Veronica.
“Shh!” Veronica hushed me. I turned to Zach instead.
“Have you seen them?” I whispered but he didn’t seem to hear me as both of them were paying much attention to the play.
"All right, fine," I said to myself.
I then excused myself and went out of the theater. I checked the reception area, hoping that I’d be able to find them but to no avail.
I ran and went out of the Coliseum and saw Clarence and Atasha arguing near the staircase.
“Atasha!” I ran toward them to try to stop them.
But in the process of doing so, I noticed someone walking somewhere and based on the sound of his footsteps and smell. I stopped. I was confident that it was none other than Leo. However, at this moment, I was debating whether or not I should follow Atasha or Leo right now.
I made a decision to follow Leo. As soon as I was near him, spun around and caught me.
"Elijah, I see you've been following me," Leo remarked with a sneer on his face. "Can you tell me why you're here when you’re supposed to sit back there and enjoy the main event of the night?”
My jaw clenched as I looked at him. "I'm just checking in to make sure you don't do anything stupid," I replied.
He laughed hysterically which made me furious. I tried to punch his face but he easily grabbed my fist.
“You can hit anyone but not me, Mr. Elijah Montreal. I won’t allow your filthy hands to disgrace my beautiful face,” he uttered and released my hand. “Please, enjoy the night,” he said, turned around and went inside to the theater room.
It was the first time I've ever seen those types of orbs emanating from a werewolf. I had to confess that if I didn’t act right now, I would be in serious danger.
He had even more rage in his eyes, and it was clear that he would go to any length to avenge their pack's defeat. I could tell he was a distinct breed from the rest as with the exception of my father, Alpha Gregory, no one could simply dodge my fist, like the way Leo did.
I inhaled sharply; I had the impression that he was a real threat to us.
