Chapter 10

Ayla’s POV

There was no ridiculously loud singing on the way home from school this afternoon. I had agreed to drive the triplet Gods home with me. They refused to go with Mason, and I didn’t think he would have waited for them either, to be honest.

Whatever had happened had sent them all into weird head space. I could feel it.

The Packhouse was full again when we got back. Michael was talking to Tristan about the Sun Valley pack. Tristan went silent when I walked in; he just stared. I Know Michael noticed too.

“Hi,” I timidly said

“How old are you,” Tristan asked

“I’ll be eighteen on Wednesday; why?” I answered; what an odd question, I thought.

“You’re not originally from this pack, are you?” he added

“No, Michael adopted me!” I state feeling uneasy

“Do you know who your original pack is?” he carried on

“Umm, no, I don’t; I’m sorry. Is there a reason for all these questions?” I had to know as it was getting weird

Michael was watching us; he didn’t seem to want to intervene either.

“I just wondered as I haven’t seen a female from my pack of your age,” he shrugged.

“Surely there are girls in your pack that are my age?” I was shocked by his remark,

“Nope, we have nineteen-year-olds and soon-to-be sixteen-year-olds, but no seventeen- or eighteen-year-olds,” he answered but seemed to be getting bored talking to me.

“Are you saying you think I’m from your pack then?” I ask him, intrigued

“You might be, but I doubt it; it’s only because you have similar hair to the girls in my pack, is all, nothing major,” he seemed to be trying to shake me off.

Mason walked in then, and his eyes shot daggers at me. My new bodyguards stepped closer, revealing that Michael was standing with us also. I’m pretty sure Mason hadn’t seen him behind the broad wall the boys made. His face soon changed to one of a smile.

“Hey, dad,” he shouts with a wave

“Oh, hello, son, how was your day?” Michael asked

“Yeah, good,” he replied

I watched; it was amazing how he could switch from one persona to another so quickly; I guess it proves he was a snake after all.

“Tristan, me and some buddies are going to play ball if you wanna join,” he shouted to the red-headed guy.

“Sure, I’ll go change,” Tristan shouted as he jogged off.

Michael screwed his face up and watched his son climb the stairs.

“Why didn’t he ask you guys too?” he asked

“Oh, we already said we were busy this evening,” Aiden answered quickly

“Okay, that’s fair enough” this answer seemed to satisfy the older male.

“Yeah, Ayla has a project due in, and we said we would be happy to give her a hand tonight,” Axel provided

“I do?” I asked; I didn’t know I had anything due.

“Yeah, you know the history one,” Axel prodded

“Right, yeah, silly me, I forgot,” I said with a smile.

It looks like I will be spending my evening with these handsome brutes too! But honestly, why were they so fascinated with me? What was I missing?

I really could do with some Chase Brother free time. The sheer smell of them was starting to give me a headache. The need to be near them was driving me insane, and I was trying my best to be respectful and not run my hands down their chests and through their hair.

“Calm down, Ayla,” I scolded myself as my pulse picked up, and the fast-becoming familiar pulse down there took hold,

Archer was trying to hide a chuckle, though, but why? Hadn’t I said anything out loud?

“Okay, so I think I’m going to go change, and I’ll meet you all back here in a bit, yeah, for my… project,” I cleared my throat and said, as I ran my fingers through my hair, not believing where my head space had gone so quickly.

I needed a shower and something very dull to look at.

Aiden’s POV

Ayla drove us all wild when her pheromones spiked. We could hear her pulse quicken, and we could smell her change. She was starting to react to us more than before, and we loved it.

The only thing was, why was it that all three of us were drawn to her, and more importantly, why did it not bother us. Surely our wolves would object? It’s one mate for one wolf; it’s always been that way?

We all turned to watch as Ayla left and climbed the stairs. She was on the third floor, so once we heard her start the second set, we all set off up the stairs too.

Mason hadn’t left yet to meet his friends, and any time away from us meant danger for our girl.

Tristan passed us on the stairs, nodded his greeting, and moved on. We didn’t have any significant grievances with the Sun Valley Pack. Mostly we struggled with the Light Gorge Pack.

That seemed to be the norm within the packs. You have a rivalry with your opposite. Being the Shadow Forge, we naturally would feud with the Light Gorge pack, which means the Winter Moon pack would-be rivals to the Sun Valley. Yet Tristan seems fine with Michael and Mason.

Slowing our pace, we wait. The smell of Mason hit us. First, he was indeed coming this way. Thank goddess, we won’t have to fight yet tonight.

He didn’t pass us as amicably as Tristan, though. He glared, and then shoulder rammed Axel. Good job, it was Axel, with him being the most peaceful.

“Stay,” I had to tell Blaze; he wanted to rip that twat’s throat out, but now was not the time to start wars. The only important thing right now was Ayla, even if she wasn’t fully aware yet.

“Don’t talk to me like I’m a common dog,” he snapped at me

“Then don’t act like one,” I retorted

“I think I already hate him,” Archer pointed out as Mason slammed the door.

We all knew how Archer felt; neither of us liked him even a little. He just rubbed us the wrong way.

We carry on climbing the stairs and head off to our rooms. We all needed a cold shower, that little show, even though it was tiny. It was enough to create very noticeable bulges in each of our trousers.

“Meet you both back here in ten minutes, okay,” I tell my brothers; for some reason, I always seemed to take the lead. That would be because I was three minutes older than Archer and seven minutes older than Axel!

Ayla’s POV

The feel of the water streaming down my face and running down my back was incredible. It was exactly what I needed.

I could see the chase Brothers’ perfect bodies whenever I closed my eyes. Not that I had seen them, but how I imagined them was outstanding, perfect ripped abs and bulging muscles, and that was just their chests. If I dared to travel lower, I couldn’t control the overwhelming pulse I was getting down there more and more often.

“Get a bloody grip, and wash your hair Ayla” I had taken to snapping at myself to make myself do the things I needed to do.

Reaching over, I grab my coconut milk shampoo and squeeze a generous dollop into my hand. I concentrated on washing my hair and singing songs to myself to keep my stupid mind busy.

Once I was done, I quickly washed my body and jumped out of the shower. I didn’t give the brothers a time that I would be back, but I just wanted to hurry. The pull to them was unreal. I was going to have to ask them what was going on.

“What if it’s just you? What if they don’t feel anything for you and they are just being nice” my anxious mind decided to make an appearance.

Rummaging through my wardrobe, I look for my cutest top, the pale pink one with the zipper that goes from the low-cut top to the centre, and my favourite black jeans.

Quickly, I ran my hairbrush through my tangled mess of hair; even though I had washed it, it was still unmanageable. I opted for a French braid that I turned into a bun. I put a little bit of makeup on. Not too much; I didn’t want to look cheap, desperate, or easy!

Looking myself over in the mirror, I was secretly pleased with the outcome, which never happened.

I close my door and lock it, something I have taken to doing a lot more recently. I walk down the stairs taking them two at a time. Finding I was the first back, I went to the kitchen.

My belly rumbled; I was hungry, so I decided to fix myself a snack before the boys returned.

As I opened all the cupboards, I found bread, cheese, butter, ham, and Lettuce with a dollop of mayonnaise. I love eating; I think it might even be a hobby. Busying myself with assembling my sandwich, I don’t hear the boys come down the stairs.

Lost in my little world, I dance around the kitchen to the music playing over the speakers. I would have happily carried on if not for Axel and Archer chuckling. Aiden just stood there; arms folded with a smirk on his face. They looked amazing! All three were dressed in grey joggers, leaving nothing to the imagination, and vest tops; their hair was still damp from the shower, and all I could smell was their scents mixed with soap and shampoo.

I trip over my feet when I see them standing there, my face blazes red, and I almost drop my sandwich!

“Oh, crap, I’m in so much trouble” how am I meant to control myself when they look and smell like that. How do I keep my hands to myself? Let alone stay standing.

It’s scary being mad about three guys at once and only knowing them for a day!
