WHAT THE HELL WAS KIERAN DOING?
CHAPTER SEVENTY TWO
WHAT THE HELL WAS KIERAN DOING?
My days are almost over and I’d be back in school next Monday. I fed Milo his supper and take a few pictures for my followers, preparing to head back to my room when something stops me. Or more like voices.
They are low whispers and it’s coming from the garage. I have a bad feeling about this so I go to hide behind a wall. The same spot I used to hide to spy on Kieran and his friends.
“Are you sure about this? Moncar said to let the rumors die over before going back there.”
Moncar? Going back? They were talking about the ring.
Kieran was going back to the ring.
“You’re risking everything just to go and meet her?”
“I have to see Kat. Don’t stop me.”
“What of Aaliyah.”
“That’s why you’re not following. Make sure she doesn’t find out I’m gone.” Kieran says, revving his motor before I hear it disappear into the night.
Why is he going to see Kat and risking everything for her ? Was Kat really trying to tell me the truth and warn me? Was I being foolis and trusting Kieran fully? Maybe she wasn’t an angel but neither was Kieran.
What the hell was Kieran doing?
I run back to the kitchen, whipping out a blender and making a smoothie. I needed to follow Kieran and so first, I have to get rid of Ryan.
I put banana into the blender and add some milk. I rummage through the drawers finding Aunty’s stella’s sleeping pill. I knew I’d find them. She confessed to my mom that Kieran was giving her trouble at home some time ago and she used to have trouble sleeping as she’d lie awake thinking of him. She admitted that she got sleeping pills and some were even lying in the medicine cabinet unused.
Viola! I found them. I pick up three pills. I don’t know how many would knock him up Asap so I needed to get enough but not more than enough that would end up killing him or something worse.
I drop it into the milk just before I hear her Ryan’s voice.
“Oh hey, what’s up.” He asks casually. What a pretender. Too bad two can play the game.
I intentionally look behind him and smile inside when I hear him sigh.
“He’s uhh… going for a quick ride.”
“Really? He said he’ll take me next time.”
“he did?”
“What a jerk and I even thought of him and made him a smoothie. I don’t even like bananas so I can drink this. It’s just going to waste.” I say in a teary and heart broken voice and yet again, my tricks don’t fail me.
“Don’t worry. I love banana smoothies. You can give it to me instead of throwing it away.”
“Oh Ryan, you’re too kind.” I say sweetly before handing him the smoothie and watch him consume all in one go.
“It’s fine.” He says before going to the sink to rinse out the cup.
“Oh Chloe’s calling me. Give me a sec.” I run upstairs changing from my night wear into a black hoodie and leggings. I tie my hair up and pull on a pair of sneakers. I put on a cap, nose mask and glasses. I needed to conceal my identity.
I hear a loud noise and curses and run to the kitchen. Ryan is stumbling around tryong to grab onto a solid surface. He sees me in the door way and realization hits him. I can see the feeling of betrayal in his eyes.
“You knew didn’t you? You were pretending. Fuck.” Plates crash onto the floor as he tries to hold the dining table.
“I’m sorry. I have to.” I apologized.
“Don’t follow him.” He slurs.
“Let me help you lie down.” I say and approach him but he grabs onto my arm.
“What did you put in that shitty smoothie, Waters?”
“It’s just a sleeping pill. You’d be awake soon.”
“Fuck, I should have known you drugged it. It tasted like muddy water and banana flavor.”
Those are his last words before he crushes onto the floor, taking me with him, lucky for me I don’t fall under the giant. Only my feet is trapped beneath him I manage to pull myself up.
“Sorry, Ryan I tried to get you to a more comfortable place.”
I ran out into the garage, getting into my car and hitting the road. I go way beyond the speed limit, crossing red lights and driving carelessly as I tailed Kieran.
I arrive at the Valley, driving to the building that was known as the ring and underground house.
This time round, I had a way to go in. I go into the elevator and through the car park. This time round, the vehicles are lesser in numbers and quantity. I go into the changing room. Thankfully it’s empty. It’s quite late and they might already be out. I’m about to step out when someone moves. Shit! I almost didn’t see her. It’s Niki. She would recognize me if I moved now. So I wait in hiding.
After a few minutes, she picked up her purse and take out a bottle. It’s alcohol. I don’t know which though, she pours herself a glass them before downing it in a go and placing the bottle back and leaving the room. She turns the light off before going. This assures me that the room is now empty.
I wait for a few minutes just to be sure before moving out.
I go out into the hallway refusing to think about the last time I was here. I needed to find either Katie or Kieran. I peep through key holes and unopen doors and finally I find what I’m looking for.
Katie is dressed up in a red gown and sipping wine from a glass but what’s more surprising is the fact that she’s perched on some old geezers lap as he released smoke into her face and she smiles although it seems forced.
So she was still working here?
Katie Jer, you nobody. You messed with the wrong queen.
I took out my phone and double checked that my flash was off before I started taking pictures of her. When I’ve gotten enough, I resume making a video of them. I watch as the old fat man gives her a few dollars and sinks his hands into her shirt, grabbing her boob. I want to throw up and stop for her sake, but I remember how she framed me and hurt me even though I warned her to stay away.
I wasn’t doing this to her. She was forcing me to.
