"And he didn't check."
From the pavilion you have a view of the entire training field and so we were not denied Beau's departure. What a fucking jerk.
"What?" Zaira turned to me in my arms, her confused knitted brows looking damn cute on her face.
“Not what, who . Beau. I've spoken to him, but it doesn't seem to have worked. That idiot.”
She sighed and her purple eyes were sad. Then she leaned her back against my chest again and stared at Georgie, who was standing deserted in the aisle, watching him go. “You are mates. I saw the tape."
I wasn't amazed. Her abilities had evolved, and now she could perceive far more than ever before. Seeing mate tapes has also recently become part of it. But I was amazed at my mother's questionable decision. "mates? Beau is the last thing that would do Georgie any good.”
"Hm. Georgie has always had a crush on Beau.” She turned to me, smiling. “Besides, I have a feeling that sometimes the beginning can be a bit bumpy.”
"Only the beginning."
"Yes, just the beginning." She pulled me down to her - I silently followed her nonverbal command. Then she kissed me softly in her lovely, feminine way and I understood the unsaid message in it . The past is long forgotten .
"Don't say anything to Beau." When I didn't answer, she gave me a warning look. "Don't you dare, Aramis."
I growled. "You know that's impossible."
“You are mates. You have to take care of it yourself - no one can intervene. Imagine if someone pushed you into giving in to the bond. You would probably have avoided me even more.”
My wolf bared his teeth. "I wouldn't be."
She crossed her arms.
I grabbed her chin, kissed her and bit her lip. Supple, she gave way under me, became soft and snuggled up to me. I lingered briefly in the pleasure of tasting her before breaking away from her seductive mouth. "I will not say anything. But if Beau fucks it up, you won't be able to stop me. I know how deeply this affects you.”
She nodded and we lingered for a few minutes in the little pavilion that she liked so much.
"You miss him." It didn't take much of my strength to bring the golden portal into view. "Let's go." She could never be away from our child for too long.
"You felt it."
There was so much love in that look that a heart that had been so cold and bloodthirsty a thousand years ago now grew warm.
“Of course you have, you always do. You know, I wouldn't want our story any other way."
I cocked my head, looking at her in silence.
"You do not believe me. I wouldn't be the Zaira I am today."
My eyes narrowed. "What? If I hadn't been so mean to you?"
But she only laughed. "Facing a dominant wolf like you is still one of the bravest things I've done in my life."
How could someone be so damn perfect? I grabbed her waist and pulled her tightly to me. "And you do it every bloody day." I grinned. I grabbed her chin again and pulled her in for a firm kiss that there was no doubt this Lycan would always choose for her. "Now let's go home."
I took her hand and led her through the portal home to Koray, who was sound asleep under Reah's watchful eyes.
