918 Chu Pengzhan's Terms

Mengyao blushed, assuming that Lin Yi already knew what Pengzhan wanted to talk about when he suggested discussing matters in Lin Yi's room.

"Alriught," Pengzhan nodded before moving into the room with him. He closed the door properly before making a gesture for him, "Do sit, Lin Yi. No need to be courteous with family."

"Okay, Uncle Chu," Lin Yi had already gotten used to how Pengzhan treats him at this point. He sat in front of him.

"Yi, I heard from Yao Yao that you've lost all your strength, and that you're planning on resigning. Is this true?" Pengzhan asked.

"Yes, Uncle Chu- to tell the truth, I'm not much stronger than a regular person now. I can barely protect myself, so watching over Yao Yao and Shu is pretty much an impossible task at this point," Lin Yi said bluntly, "I have no choice but to bring up my resignation!"

"I see…" Pengzhan nodded, "You've lost your strength, but there's not that much to it… It's just that you're a normal person now, nothing wrong with that. Ah, what do you think of doing business??

"Business?" Lin Yi paused, not sure where this is going, "I think it's fine…"

"All rivers lead to Rome- business is a good path to success as well," Pengzhan said," Yi, you're already the second shareholder of Pengzhan Industries, aren't you? Learning to do some business will do you well too. I do have to retire one day, after all, and the company must live on…"

Lin Yi froze upon hearing the words- Pengzhan hadn't said it outright, but the connotations were clear as day, and Lin Yi was no fool. Pengzhan was saying that he'd keep Lin Yi around as his inheritor!

"Uncle Chu, Pengzhan Industries has to go to Yao Yao's hands, not to an outsider, right?" Lin Yi shurgged with a laugh, rejecting the proposal.

"Haha…" Pengzhan laughed slightly, changing the topic, "What do you think of Yao Yao, Lin Yi?"

"Yao Yao? She's fine…" Lin Yi looked at Pengzhan suspiciously, not sure how to handle such erratic discission topics.

"Oh, do you like Yao Yao then?" Pengzhan said, cutting straight to the chase seeing that his implications regarding the inheritance wasn't going anywhere with Lin Yi.

"Wha-?!" Lin Yi froze yet again, his eyes wide as he pondered the assault from Pengzhan's question. How was he supposed to answer this?"

Like… If Pengzhan was talking about like, then, of course… but Lin Yi had to measure his words carefully before he understood Pengzhan's intentions.

"Yao Yao's pretty and cute, the flower of the school, and the target of many boys…" Lin Yi said in a roundabout way, while also implying that he thought that way too.

Outside Lin Yi's room were two little spies, eavesdropping on the discuission.

Mengyao's heart tightened upon hearing Pengzhan bring up the topic, her breathing becoming rapid as well.

"Oh, Yao Yao, what do you think Shield Bro will say?" Shu asked.

"Shh!" Mengyoao was worried Shu's nonsense would make her miss Lin Yi's answer.

But, when Mengyao received the entirety of Lin Yi's answer, she couldn't help but feel a tinge of disappointment- why couldn't this bastard Lin Yi just get straight to the point instead of darting around like this? Do you like her or not? Stop talking about other people!

"Haha. Then what about you?" Penghzan looked at Lin YI.

"I think… Any boy who's spent time with her would like her…" Lin Yi shrugged. Pengzhan didn't look like he was stopping anytime soon, so he had to give him a slightlymore direct answer.

"Alright, let me put this another way," Pengzhan could see what Lin Yi was thinking as well.,"I'd like to pass on Pengzhan Industries into your hands so that you could bring it to glory!"

Lin Yi, naturally, understood what Pengzhan wanted now- no wonder he brought up the company, and brought it up again.

"Uncle Chu, I have a girlfriend already…" Lin Yi smiled bitterly, "I think you already knew that, but I was just on a date with her too…I even gave her a ring."

"Oh?" Pengzhan said after hearing Lin Yi's response, clearly not expecting his seriousness towards Tang Yun. Now things were more complicated- his daughter may be able to accept Shu, but could she do the same for Tang Yun?

"Uncle Chu, actually- I know you put a lot of trust in me, I'm very grateful for that!" Lin Yi said, "But marriage is a different matter- the people involved need to agree, and I don't think that Mengyao would like me, so, maybe if you were to suggest it to her she might say yes due to her gratitude for me, and give an answer she wouldn't wholeheartedly give otherwise… And that's not fair to her! And not fair to Tang Yun, too…"

Lin Yi really didn't think that the Miss would genuinely like him. She'd be thankful, yes, but as for the 'fighting over him' that she was doing with Tang Yin… It was something under Shu's influence. As far as Lin Yi was concerned, the Miss only had feelings of gratitude towards him, and the feeling of safety he brought with him to her life.

Tears dripped instantly from Mengyao's eyes.

I like you, of course I like you! Who said I didn't??

Mengyao wanted to burst into the room and tell him everything- but she couldn't!

Lin Yi's attitude made it clear that he wouldn't give up on Tang Yun- what was the point of bursting in at all? Just to make a laughing stock of herself? Maybe beg Lin Yi to let her be a msitress, and Shu to be the little mistress??

The Miss wasn't able to do something like that, nor would she be able to propose it!

"From what I see, Yao Yao semes to be in rather good terms with Tang Yun?" Pengzhan wasn't expecting such a unyielding rejection… It was true that he didn't want his daughter fighting another girl for Lin Yi- from his perspective, good men must devote themselves to one love, just like what he did himself!

But, the promise he made as a father… For his daughter's happiness, Pengzhan's words revealed a hint of his willingness to compromise.

In other words, if both Tang Yun and Mengyao didn't mind… Neither would he!!!

Lin Yi froze once more, and he couldn't understand. Just what in the world did he do to warrant this special treatment, trust and respect from Pengzhan? Just from the first time he came here the man was already being respectful towards him, not in any way an employer should be acting towards his employee…

Yes, Lin Yi didn't understand at all. He didn't know what sort of secrerts were in play here, and the old man wasn't telling him anything. Pengzhan wasn't being very clear on the matter, and Lin Yi felt that there was something bigger here at play!

"Uncle Chu, do you mean…" Lin Yi looked at Pengzhan with disbelief.
