Chapter One Hundred and thirteen
"Damien?" I tapped on his bicep continuously as he slept.
I had tossed and turned on the bed up until it was midnight and I couldn't take it anymore. The face of that woman had been plaguing my mind especially after Damien had given me the cold shoulder all day.
"Damien!" I whisper yelled, shoving him a little bit. Damien was a light sleeper so he was supposed to have come awake by now unless, of course, he was ignoring me.
"What is it Ariana?" He asked groggily.
Ariana? Not babe? Oh hell no! I won't take it!
"We need to talk." I coldly muttered.
"About what?" He sounded whiny.
"Sit up. It's imperative that we talk about this, right now!" I practically ordered and he slowly sat up muttering something about me not letting him sleep when he needed all the rest he could get. I ignored him and went ahead to speak after putting on the bed lamp so I could see him better.
"Who's Daisy?" I asked seriously.
"Huh?" His brows furrowed in question.
"Why are you asking?" He asked back.
"Just answer the question, Damien."
"Well, I want to know why you're asking about her." All traces of sleep had disappeared as he sat up to glare at me.
"You spent so much time speaking to her today via FaceTime and I just want to know who she is to you." I said.
"That's none of your business." He replied coldly and laid back down after switching the lights off.
I immediately switched them back on.
"Damien, answer me!" I exclaimed in annoyance.
"I'm not answering that and there's nothing you can do about it. Let me sleep Ariana." He said in that spine chilling tone of his that still scared me till now.
I swallowed, glaring at his back that faced me.
"Fine then." I said not at all conceding to it but I had other plans to get back at him for ignoring all day up until now.
"Alexa! Play me Friends by Marshmello featuring Anne Marie!" I said loudly, hoping she had picked up what I said.
She responded accordingly and the sound of the song filled the room.
I got on my feet and danced on the bed to spite him, yelling the lyrics to his hearing as I moved.
"Don't go look at me with that look in your eyes!" I sang emphatically, staring at straight at him.
He grabbed his pillow and placed it over his ears as he turned to glare angrily at me.
I was only halfway through the song when he called for Alexa to stop it.
The glare he shot me made me know better than to go against his order and have the song playing again. But, I was pretty sure he got the message.
With no words said, I got back into bed and managed to get in a few hours of sleep before awakening to an awkward morning with my roommate.

"How's Damien doing today?" Mom asked me as she placed a cup of tea on the stool beside her. We were seated by the poolside, having our usual day to day bonding time with all the ladies present.
"He's fine, I guess." I muttered, unable to hide the distaste in my tone.
Damien and I had not been in talking terms for over a week. I only went over to give his medication whenever it was time for him to take them. And, while I did that, there were hardly any words said.
Keeping to my words, I slept next to him every night, but there wasn't any sort of physical contact between us. He slept close to the edge with his back turned to me and I did the same leaving a wide gap between us on the king sized bed.
"You two are fighting?" Mom asked a little concernedly.
"I wouldn't call it a fight. It's just a little tiff." I said dismissively making it obvious that I did not want to talk about him.
"Hmm okay. I have some work to get to at the office, I'll see you guys later." She took one last sip of her tea and bade us goodbye with the usual hugs.
I let out a breath and shook my head to ward off certain thoughts.
"You and Damien are so dramatic..." Amy commented with an eye roll.
"Why would you say that?" My head turned to face her, looking away from her eyes that reminded me of him.
"You too bicker back and forth and act like you don't care about each other, whereas you can't stop thinking about each other." She said ending her statement with a chuckle.
"What makes you think I'm thinking about him? And, why would you think he's doing same?" I questioned her wondering why she looked so amused.
"Duh! It's so obvious. Besides that, he's staring at us, you in particular, from up there." She gestured to the terrace towering above us with a suggestive tilt of her head.
Instinctively, I glanced up and saw him standing there, staring down at us. I looked away instantly.
"You two should just talk it out already. He has an appointment at the hospital tomorrow and I think you should go with him." She advised.
I nodded in agreement. I had no choice anyway.

My feet tapped continuously on the floor as I turned back and forth in the doctor's office awaiting the results of the tests that were being ran on Damien.
It had been a full thirty minutes since they left for his medical examination and I had been sitting here expecting their return with good news. I would have followed but for the Covid protocols that were still very much active.
"Yeah sure." I heard voices coming from a short distance and I sat up. The door came open and in entered Damien and the doctor.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting, Mrs Kingston." Dr Kingsley acknowledged me as he took his seat opposite us.
"It's alright doc. How did it go?" I asked, glancing briefly at Damien before turning back to the professional.
"Your husband is in great shape. His quick recovery almost seems like a miracle!" He grinned.
A relieved smile found its way to my face.
"Wow. That's so good to hear." I said genuinely happy about the good news.
He turned to Damien whose hair was finally in full display with all the bandages taken off.
"You might have a series of recurring headaches from time to time but in all, you're good and ready to get back to work if you want."
"This is amazing news. Thanks Doc." He said with a slight smile.
"Don't overwork yourself Mr Kingston." The doctor advised knowingly. Damien chuckled and managed to promise that he would try.
We stayed for only a few more minutes before shaking hands with the doctor as we exited the room.
I really wanted to do a happy dance but I had to comport myself because of the prying stares that followed us as we walked by.
"I'm happy you're much better now." I commented meekly, as we got seated in the vehicle.
"Thanks." He curtly said. I sucked my lips in and nodded stiffly before turning to the window.
This was awkward, really awkward. In all honesty, I didn't understand why he was so mad at me. Damien never ignored me for so long asides when we just got married and we were barely friends.
For a man who claimed to be in love with me, he was sure giving off some attitude. I wasn't supposed to be chasing him and trying to gain his attention, it was supposed to be the other way around.
What kind of man decides to ignore his wife, the woman he claims to be hopelessly in love with, for more than a week? Just what?
I scoffed, unable to express my agitation solely in my thoughts. My feet soon unconsciously started tapping on the floor of the vehicle. I so wanted to pace but that wasn't possible for now.
I opened my mouth and closed it. I repeated the process about three times and I couldn't form any words, I simply looked like a fish out of water. So, I just stayed aside and sulked.
I craved his attention and he was blatantly ignoring me even when he knew it.
Damien's mean. Very mean.
Getting to the villa was no different. He just walked away after we shared the news with everyone.
Of course everyone else was happy that Damien was alright and was soon going to return to work. Mom even asked for Lorenzo to prepare a large dinner to celebrate it. I was inviting Brianna to join us while everyone else invited whoever they saw fit. Damien surely had lots of close associates who were going to be present so it was going to be an intimate but formal setting.
The night was going to be an eventful night for sure. I could feel it.
