Chapter Thirty one

Damien's POV;

"Did you deliver it?" I questioned.

"Yes sir." Miguel said enthusiastically.

"Good. Keep an eye on her every move in my absence and report to me accordingly." I hung up the phone immediately.

I dug my hand into my left pant pocket while I walked towards the balcony of my hotel suite and leaned against the door frame, looking out into the busy city.

I had left for Italy after receiving an urgent business call, I was here to sort it out. Ariana was nowhere to be seen when I got into the room to get prepared. My jet was ready so I had to leave without telling her anything.

I was well aware that calling her was impossible because she did not have a phone, no thanks to me. I knew she must have abhorred me even more than before after my fit of rage. I could not face her because I did not like seeing women cry, it was just not something nice to see.

I did not plan on throwing her phone away, it was an impulsive reaction, honestly. I felt like she was speaking to that friend of hers again and when I heard her confessing her love to him so affectionately, it irked me so bad and worsened the situation when she kept arguing back. I'm a jerk, I know.

I was going to be away for a few weeks so I thought to have her phone replaced as well as give her a laptop to do whatever she wanted with. I noticed she was getting bored sitting at home, doing nothing. I knew how hardworking she was before we got married and she needed a break but now I was sure she was tired of it.

I walked back in and sat on the bed watching the sun set slowly. Her face kept popping into my thoughts and I had tried to push the thoughts of her out of my head.

I had said a lot to her and I knew I must have hurt her real bad. I did all of that on purpose because I did not want her getting any ideas of us working out in the long run.

I thought back to the night she had placed the pillow boundary on our bed. Our, that had a nice ring to it. I smirked.

I found it totally amusing that she would think for a second that something like that would stop me from touching her if I wanted to. I had to tell her she was not my type when she was physically everything a man could want. Those skinny models I had on my arm every other day before I got married had nothing on her.

I did want to touch her so bad. I really wanted her screaming my name under me as I take her to points of ecstasy she did not think possible but strangely I felt like she deserved better than just being used to satisfy my wild sexual desires. She deserved to be loved tenderly and cared for.

The innocent aura she exuded was just too pure to be tainted by my darkness and impurity. I was bad news for her and the fact that she was tied to me for as long as possible was all the more reason why she would hate me even more if I decided to play with her perfectly sculpted body.

I truly wanted to wrap my hands around her wide hips and bury my head in between her luscious breasts, my hands ached to squeeze them so bad but I just couldn't. I wanted to see what was underneath all that clothing really.

I looked down and realized that I had a boner to take care of, thanks to Ariana. I rubbed on my face in frustration. I wanted to get laid but I did not want be with anyone but Ariana at that point. It was frustrating.

I took off my clothes and headed to the bathroom for a cold shower. I had a meeting and going in there with an obvious boner was not an exemplary feat.

I was done with my shower and I came out to find my phone ringing. Someone was trying to FaceTime me, I scowled wondering who it was.

It was Aleena, I groaned. This girl never gave me a break. Yes, she was my childhood friend and she obviously had feelings for me right from when we were younger but I had straight up told her I did not see her in that light. Aleena never gave up, I knew she was actually not happy with my marriage to Ariana, same as Tracy but I pretended to be oblivious to how she kept asking questions about my wife and I, trying to get something out of our relationship. She felt I was dumb as a rock when it came to matters of the heart but she should have known better. No one outsmarts me.

I let the phone ring out until it stopped. I was relieved until it rang out again. Knowing Aleena, she would call me over and over until I eventually picked up.

"Aleena." I said the moment her face popped on the screen.

"Deeeeee!" She squealed in an overly excited tone. That nickname made me want to roll my eyes and gag whenever she called it but I went with it cause she would not dare to call me that aside when were alone.

"You're not nice, you know that?"

"What have I done this time?'' I said uninterestedly.

"You left without letting me know." She whined like a child.

"And since when did I have to tell you about my moves before taking them?" I asked, not hiding my irritation at the entitlement she was beginning to show off. She definitely got the message because she composed herself before speaking.

"I did not mean it like that Damien, you told Ariana you were going out for a business trip but you did not think to let me or anyone else know about it." She explained ridiculously.

"And who's Ariana?" I quirked am eyebrow as I asked. She paused and swallowed, frowning in the process.

"Your wife." She managed to get out with great difficulty.

"Exactly. There's your answer." I said dismissively.

"But..." She tried protesting.

"I have a meeting to attend Aleena." I butted in.

"Okay, okay, wait a minute." She sat up and said pleadingly.

"When are you coming back?"

"Not anytime soon." I said in a clipped tone and then I made it clear to her before ending the call.

"Go home Aleena, cause you're not going to be seeing me anytime soon." I ended the call and dropped my phone before she could say anything else.

I headed out for my meeting which turned out to be a success. I was trying to build an exquisite hotel here in the heart of Rome because it is a nice tourist destination.

I had to come and oversee the project myself because I wanted to hire local hands to do the job along with my team of experts from the US. In truth, it was a perfect excuse to be away from my family, Gerald especially.

He had been trying to speak to me all week but I kept avoiding him. I wondered if Ariana noticed how strained my relationship with him was because I hardly ever spoke to him. The only reason why I let him live in my house was because of my mother. It would have hurt her badly if I let her husband stay apart from her because she was so in love with him. It annoyed me to no end that she could not see through his facade of lies.

"Sir!" Drew, my new assistant exclaimed, interrupting my train of thoughts. I glared up at him for no particular reason and he gulped.

"You need to see this sir." He was referring to whatever he was watching on his phone.

"What is it?" I muttered.

"I'd rather you see for yourself sir." He said with a smile and I eyed him suspiciously. I picked up his phone and the next thing I saw knocked breath out of my lungs for a second.

It was a post of Ariana's on Instagram. She had a bright yellow one handed top on, paired with denim pants, her hair was let down with a center parting that accentuated her round face. She was bare of make up but she still looked so beautiful. She was barefoot and from the looks of things, she took the picture at our bedroom's balcony.

The first picture was her facing the camera with a big smile that showed off her perfect dentition, the other was a selfie with one hand on the railing and then when I slid to the last slide, there was Snapchat video of her and Fiona making goofy faces and smiling.

I smiled unknowingly, my wife was truly a beauty to behold. I was glad she had her rings on and never took them off as I had instructed. She knew how to keep her end of the bargain and I liked it. I was actually proud to be the one who put the ring glimmering on her finger.

I gave the phone back to the owner and soon after, he commented.

"You have such a beautiful wife sir, you're such a lucky man."

I nodded and smirked in response.

"I know Drew, I know."
