Chapter Seventy two
"Hello Amy." I said in a steady tone though my heart pounded so hard that I was sure if she was a bit closer she would definitely hear it.
"Damien?" She whispered slowly like she could not believe it was me. I watched as she walked around the counter and stood in front of me. My height towered over hers so she basically had to look up at my face.
My eyes trailed over her small frame. Her shoulder length bob hair, her skin had a nice tan to it so did her smooth face. I eyed her outfit in distaste, she was clad in a white button up shirt, black pants and an apron with the Cafe's name on it, while her feet had on some scrawny old flip flops that needed a change so badly.
I pulled her close not able to take it any longer and she held me in the same pattern, bawling her eyes out on my t-shirt but I did not care. I held the tears in, trying to be a man. I could not break down in front of anyone.
I rubbed on her sleek hair continuously while whispering the few comforting words I could muster.
"I thought I'd never see you again." She said in a muffled tone but I could make out what she said thoroughly.
I led her to one of the tables and sat her down. I moved to sit opposite her.
"How?" I questioned iln a bewildered whisper.
"How…? How did you…? How come...?" I found myself stuttering for the first time in years. I had always been able to keep it together but this time it was out of my control.
"Damien, it's a really long story." Her silky voice filtered out, much to my dismay. She sounded like she wanted to us to dismiss the topic and move on like it did not happen when it was actually a major piece of the puzzle we called our lives.
"I want to hear it. Trust me, I have all day." I said, pulling on to her fingers placed on the table and wrapped them with mine.
"Damien let's let it be. I'm just glad I've gotten to see you again. I never thought I would." She said with a gentle smile as she caressed my face with her soft hand.
"Amy no, we have to. I've searched all over for you and now that I've found you, you cannot continue to hide the truth from me." I said strongly trying to keep my tone steady.
"Damien..." She drawled with a tired sigh.
"Please." I said in the softest tone I could muster.
"Well," she sighed. "If we're going to have this conversation, we might as well go somewhere convenient for it." She said pushing herself off her seat with the aid of the table.
"Where are we going?" I asked standing up as well.
"My place."

I brought the car to a halt in front of a nicely done condominium.
I wished I had brought my driver with me, driving on the right hand side was something I was not used to. I had no idea how I managed to cope with it but I was doing just fine, I guess.
Amy got out and I followed, making sure the car was locked before heading into the building.
We walked on in silence, the only noise that could be heard was her ransacking her handbag for the keys. Finally she got them out just as we came to halt in front of what I assumed was her place. It certainly was. She shoved her keys into the key hole, turned the knob and let us in.
Her airy spacious apartment was pretty impressive. The blue and white theme stood out, giving it the nice look that went with the beautiful island we were on.
I took a seat even before she offered me one while she walked into the kitchen asking if I wanted anything to drink.
"Some water would be fine." I said, still scanning the place with my eyes.
When she finally came with my water, she placed it on the coffee table in front of me and sat next to me on the cozy ocean blue sofa.
"Can we talk now?" I questioned, giving her a side glance while she pushed her hair behind her ears, looking nervous. She did not respond immediately so I waited patiently thinking she was trying to garner her words.
"Amy, tell me what happened." I pressed when the silence had stretched for too long.
"I don't know where to start from." She chewed on her lower lip after she spoke, looking so nervous.
"Let's start from that awful night from years ago. What happened that night?" I asked slowly, watching her closely as her chest heaved up and down.
"Okay I'll talk just give me a few seconds." She said breathlessly and I nodded, intertwining my fingers with hers.
"About fifteen years ago, we had our fifteenth birthday dinner going on in Dad's mansion and somehow I wandered over to the hall way where I saw Uncle tampering with the wires. I tried to raise an alarm and then out of nowhere, he hit me on the head with something and I fell unconscious. By the time I regained consciousness, the whole house was ablaze and I was trapped in the middle of it while in my bedroom, surely he must have brought me there. He came in back in, fully kitted in some firemen stuff and feigned trying to protect me but he took me through what I believe was a secret passage way and had me dumped somewhere telling me to never return or he would have me killed. He made sure I stayed as far away from you as possible because he threatened me with so many things I was sure he was capable of so I just had to make a run for it, I've been in hiding ever since." She narrated while I listened with rapt attention, not interrupting her for a second.
"I could not tell the truth to anyone. And whenever I saw you pop on the screen of my TV or cellphone, it broke my heart even more so I just had to put a stop to it since there was no chance I was going to meet with you. I logged off social media, sold my TV and stayed away from anything that would have make me hear of you." She hiccuped, looking so sad, I could not describe how it tugged at my heart.
"I can't even believe that you're here right in front of me, I thought I'd never see you again." She sobbed loudly and I pulled her into a tight embrace, swallowing the painful lump that had formed in my throat before trying to speak. No words came out.
For fifteen years, I had tried to find my twin sister and after so long, I finally got to see her. It felt surreal but all hell was about to break loose cause the person who did this was going to face my wrath.
"Look at me." I said holding her face and wiping her teary cheeks with my thumbs. Her grey eyes into mine without hesitance.
"I'm never letting you go again." I promised her. A tear dropped from my eye before I could stop it. I had not let myself drop a tear for the longest time because of this issue that had been haunting me for ages. I did not know how I did but I kept pulling myself together because I'm a man but this time, I felt somewhat relieved that a big part of the puzzle was fixed and it was going to be an easier ride from here on.
Now, I could stop blaming myself for everything that happened. Now, hopefully, I could sleep better at night knowing that I had found my other half after so long.
We stayed there staring into nothing, trying to hold it all together. This was the most emotional moment of my life asides losing her in such a gruesome manner, fifteen years earlier.

Ariana's POV;
I woke up and saw that Damien's side of the bed was empty and looked like it had been left for a long time. I assumed he was downstairs, working as usual.
I trudged into the bathroom and brushed my teeth, after which, I took a warm shower.
Donning a bright orange mini sundress with a pair of slip on sandals, I kept my face bare of make up and placed two small stud earrings on my ears before stepping out to get breakfast.
I went down the stairs and straight into the kitchen only to see that the cook was preparing something. I exchanged greetings with the middle-aged woman just as my eyes scanned the place in search of Damien.
"Uhm, do you have any idea where my husband is?" I asked, pushing my hair behind my ears as I stared at her. She shook her head in the negative.
"No ma'am, I just arrived." She informed and I nodded before exiting the kitchen in search for him.
I walked around the house and eventually found myself outside, still in search for him but he was nowhere to be seen.
I had to ask the driver who I surprisingly met sitting idle with the hired vehicle absent from the premises.
"Sir left early this morning and did not let me drive him." He stated. I was too stunned to speak so I just nodded and walked back inside.
Damien did not know his way around, where could he have driven to so early in the morning?
I picked up my phone to call him while I sat down for breakfast. It rang out twice before he picked up.
"Damien?" I called out when he did not say anything for the first few seconds.
"Hey, what's up?" He said, clearing his throat awkwardly while I heard shuffling in the background.
Strange...
"Where are you?" I asked.
"I'll be back soon. Give or take an hour." He stated, stunning me even further.
"But why..." I was about asking the reason for his absence without a word to inform me when he hurriedly cut me off saying he would be with me soon. He hung up before I could speak again.
Now, that was really shady.
I pushed my suspicions aside, deciding to wait for him to come back in one piece before questioning him. I dug into my seafood pasta and savored the taste not letting Damien's weirdness get in the way of my appetite.
Truly, it took about an hour before he came back. At this time, I was seated at the balcony upstairs, staring out into the beautiful horizon that was splayed before me. The ocean was one beautiful sight I could not get my eyes off. The intricate blue that drew me in and how it kept me locked on its fascinating movements that I could barely move my gaze from it. This beauty, it was breathtaking to see and I never thought of getting used to it.
I heard the bedroom door come open but I did not move an inch. I perceived the strong scent of his cologne as he drew nearer to me but my gaze did not shift for a second.
"Hey." He rasped out.
"Hey." I mumbled in response.
"You're back, finally." I said, staring down at my fingers, still not looking at him despite feeling his gaze burning holes through my back.
"Yeah, I had something to sort out." He answered in a distant tone. I heard his footsteps but they were moving away not towards me.
It was at this point I turned around and saw that he had gone back into the room. I stayed put and enjoyed the scenery for a few more minutes before going back in to join him but he was not in the room anymore.
I assumed he was going to have breakfast but after waiting for a whole hour and there was no sight of him, I had to go in search for him again.
I found him seated on the beach outside of the house. He had his knees folded in front of him with his arms placed on his knee caps. He looked so deep in thought and there was a sort of rage blazing in his grey eyes which had gone intensely dark due to dilation.
I swallowed.
"Damien, is everything alright?" I asked gently while squatting to his level.
No answer.
"Damien?" I called out again. Still no answer. I should have just let him be but my oh so caring side just did not listen to the logical part of me.
"Dami..." I couldn't even complete his name.
"I'm fine!" He snapped swiftly, making me stumble in shock and I landed with my butt on the sand.
Tears stung at my eyes because I felt so humiliated. I blinked them back in, pushed myself off the sand and dusted myself before stomping into the house.
I was only trying to show concern but if he did not want it, he could get lost for all I cared.
